  1. What position did you play?😀

  2. Thought the game evened out when Sakala was subbed. It gave their 2 banks of 4 less to worry about and allowed them to push more forward.

  3. I don't think they're bothered about the turnout when they have a constituency of one.

  4. Its so bizarre how he has turned out in the media. Was a leader on the park and a brilliant player. Helped drag us almost single handidly to titles at times.

  5. Not so much a distraction to anyone because that would imply an element of directed intent. More a distraction for whoever chooses to focus on the trivia of the tweet rather than the performances of the player. At least that's what I assume Buster meant. We're not yet so closely aligned that I can be sure on every occasion. 😄 But we're making progress.

  6. A big part of this was the same problem we had under Gerrard, lots of creative players who want to be behind the ball. Not enough willing to make the run beyond and get into the box to get on the end of things. Morelos again often isolated when we had possession in advanced positions against many defenders. Would like the likes of Kent and Cantwell try to make the run into the box and try to attack a final ball instead of always wanting to play it.

  9. A lot of time for WBA and their (long suffering) fans. My Uncle played for them for 20 years and any time I've been to see them, most of their fans are decent and "lean" our way (despite their away top being yellow and green 😀)

  10. That's a hell of a young age to die and a tragedy for his family, to whom I'm sure we all send our sincere condolences.

  11. I think the league did their due diligence. A four year investigation and a hundred counts against MC? Gotti wouldn't walk on that much evidence. PLUS with the gubmint already looking to bring forward stiffer regulations on the FA for this kinda thing? Sheeeiiit...example time. Lookin forward to watchin this sphincter dilation.

  12. Conspiracy….the established clubs(Liverpool, Man Utd, Aresenal etc) don’t like upstarts such as Man City, Chelsea and maybe Newcastle now too. They like the old cartel. Man City will be a clean as a whistle once their lawyers get involved. I’m sure they’ll get the finest ones money can buy

  20. By and large I couldn't give a stuff what they do when they leave. If they feel a Ranger after they leave then good for them but I think the reality is they're only a Ranger when they actually play for the club ... the rest is just ingratiating guff they're all coached to say, something that gets them media money. I certainly don't get attached to them ... well maybe there are some special exceptions, a few players who made exceptional contributions. For me it's about the team and the club, that's all.

  21. I was a huge fan of Ian Durrant when I was a kid. Sadly, I think Simpson's tackle made me think twice about getting so focused on individual players. Since the 80s, it has become much rarer for actual Rangers men to turn out for the first team. And then we have the likes of Barry Ferguson, who can never wait to stick the knife in in his awful newspaper articles.

  22. I agree Bill but I also think we won't perhaps appreciate what we have until he goes.

  23. I thought when the manager took Sakala off he could have brought on Colak. Kamara was hardly in the game and one less defensive player might have made the difference. We aren't good enough to see out a game.

  24. Sportsound was broadcasting during the last two hours of a transfer window. Gordon was presenting and making a good job of it. In the last minutes he said something was coming in but he would have to check with the producer if he could announce it. He then said he had the producer’s approval and told the audience an offer had been made for Felip Sebo by Edinburgh Zoo. I speculate the “message” was planted by one of the production staff and endorsed by the producer rather than dreamed up by Gordon himself. @buster.posts sensibly above. We are all too quick to take offence. If Sebo’s teammates had said it to his face in jocular fashion or if supporters of any club had been saying it among themselves in derision, it would not matter one bit. But it was wrong to broadcast it. If they had said a scout from Rangers had been seen at the rhinoceros enclosure at the zoo, that would have been acceptable as a comment on the club’s style of play, a comment that listeners might or might not have agreed with. There was no need to single out for insult a young foreigner who unlike Gascoigne, for example, had hardly any profile other than not being very successful. Speaking about rhinos, can you imagine the demented press coverage Don Kitchenbrand would get?

  26. We (as a society) have become far too precious about name calling and certain types of humour. Once new rules, norms and standards feed into a society, we are our own worst enemies because we look to enforce them to the nth degree when within particular rivalries, eg. Rangers and Celtic. The small picture becomes important, we lose sight of the bigger picture and as generations pass the past can be moulded into whatever. Some changes are generally an improvement, a welcome evolution of sorts. But what we have seen, at least over most of my lifetime, constitutes an assault on free speech and an effort to make sheep of as many as possible. The gist of it is that there is something far more important than Sportsound going rapidly downhill. ps. Not holding myself up as anything as I have entered into the trap myself. Just a stand back and reflect moment.

  28. He's done not to bad for someone who's been lazy, overweight and miserable for 50% of his time here. He is now our all time leading scorer in Europe, has passed Kris Boyds goal tally for his 1st stint at Rangers and has rag-dolled defenders all across Europe and on his day he is unplayable. He was ran into the ground by Gio who must have been the only person in Scotland who couldn't see where that was heading. I know it's if and / or buts, but if he was fit at the end of last season, we would have won the EL. The media in Scotland have painted him as the villain, away fans detest him and have racially abused him on more than one occasion. Alfie is Alfie - you need to take him as package and its no coincidence that Beale seems to get the best out of him in both his stints at Rangers. Long may that continue as he fits Beales style dar more than Colak (who I rate) ever will.

  30. The accompanying comments section with the piece are very interesting. Over the five years of this thread, I have alluded on a few occasions about the Smashy and Nicey aspect of PQ. Everywhere, particularly in it's football coverage; full of guys that have been in with the bricks for thirty years plus. Tony Blackburn, Dave Lee Travis, Fluff Freeman, .............. all breathless telling what Supermarkets they were due to open. RAB and Token Tam self promote book signings and charidee dinners. They do not care, their lives are vastly different from the majority. As long as the exposure and the dosh continues to support the horse choking property portfolio and the school fees.

  31. "this is not a Celtic show". "This is not a Celtic show" were the words uttered by RAB Cosgrove on Off the Ball ten days past. The guest was Paul John Dykes, Author of half a dozen books about ra Sellik. He had another tome to flog, 'the Celtic Jersey' - a history of ra Sellik shirt as worn through time. The green'n'grey hoops did not arrive until 1903. Like the exhibition game between Renton and Hibs that took place at Sellik Park in 1888, where Sellik proceeded to sign the better halves of both teams, before playing their first match against a Rangers xi; the idea of the hoops was stolen from established Glasgow Junior club, St Anthonys. Anyways, if any one has continued interest, Paul John's book is available for £30. RAB and Token Tam lionised Paul John, telling us several Sellik minded Journos were of the opinion that Mr Dykes was the thinking man's Sellik supporter. Of course, Paul John owns and hosts ra Sellik Podcast, 'A Celtic State of Mind'. Off the Ball is not a Sellik show so we are told by RAB, but the next week another facet of ra Sellik mind from a pair of Podcasters were the guests. Former Referees, Des Roache and Steve Conroy skipped their Lodge meeting to advertise their take on the ongoing conspiracy. On Sunday last, Off the Ball not being a Sellik show had former Daily Record Journo, Anthony Haggerty as the guest. There was book to plug and an update. When the Daily Record let go Haggerty last summer, he appeared mid season to tell us he was returning to University. He matriculated for a Bachelor of Education, intent upon becoming an English teacher. On Sunday, he had dropped out, not for him. He was now working for a Sellik Podcast - 'the Celtic Way'. It is a shame he dropped out because he could have told the show's Producer, the collective noun for a gathering of Sellik Podcasters. May I suggest a PQ of Sellik Podcasters? RAB began the show by saying, "the resignation of Nadhim Zahawi was not the big story of the weekend, Wullie Collum cheating St Johnstone at Ibrox was, have you seen the decisions"? Remember, it's NOT a Sellik show?
