This is a discussion about Alfredo, let the arguments stand. If others can punch a hole in the argument provided, let it stand. Such discussion makes us ALL stronger. Alfie has had it hard here in Scotland. Just go on the court convictions for launching coins, bottles, spitting, coffee cups, ..... etc at him at Fir Park, Easter Road, Love Street; then the banners at Pitoddrie in Spanish proclaiming his Mother to be a mattress, ra Sellik fans wanting him prosecuted for driving away from a planned ambush in a Glasgow underground car park, the hatred of PQ because he was precocious, .......... etc. He is the best striker we have had since McCoist and, he was THE best ie 357 career goals for Rangers. Boyd has impressive stats but, he failed in Europe and Walter did not trust him against ra Sellik, I believe he notched one goal. Alfie has doubled the total against ra green'n'grey hooped horrors and, collected 28 European goals, our all time best Euro scorer. It's akin to those old soul songs, you never missed your water 'till it's gone. The very fact Alfie fcuked with Michael Stewart's head for two years and BBC Scotland gave him all the rope. Irvine Welsh wanted him cut to pieces with a machette and, fed to seagulls and, he ran past Scott Brown and slapped him on the back of his napper .......... Ah, you gotta luv him?7 points

Can’t be easy for a young chap whose first language isn’t English to do a press conference where many of the reporters asking questions can barely speak it themselves.3 points

Said it before & I’ll say it again I don’t know why we don’t play two strikers up front against teams like that at home ( I thought Sakala played more in a wide role rather than a second striker) And those bemoaning McLauchlin at their goal should ask whether McGregor would have come out for that cross? But I do share concerns about McLaughlin at crosses. He’s ok when they’re straight at him but he struggles to get to them when he’s got to move to the cross. Like today & at Kilmarnock recently. Assuming McGregor retires at the end of the season we’ll need to bring in at least one keeper, probably two. That won’t be easy. We should’ve brought in another keeper by now especially if, as it seems, McCrorie won’t get his chance. On the positive side today it looks like both Cantwell & Raskin will be in the starting XI each game before long. Both look like adding MF creativity which we lack2 points

Can't believe we haven't dropped more points yet under Beale. Not that I don't think he's doing a good job, just that aside from the Hearts game we have made really hard work of every other game so far. It needs to be addressed before we do start dropping the points, because with that the confidence in the squad disappears, I feel it already teeters on the brink.2 points

My MotM is Raskin. Boy looks a real player2 points

We played some excellent stuff, particularly in the first half, but struggled to create many clear cut chances with RC sitting deep. I worried about their height at set pieces and with McLaughlin flapping in the goal and no-one able to clear the ball we were lucky to only concede one. It looks like we have got 2 really good players in Cantwell and Raskin. Cantwell and Tillman were our best players. As for the ref, dreadful performance.1 point

Was at game todayand :- 1) Referee worst yet this season absolutely pathetic. 2) Yet another bus parking team(most of (game). 3) A few solid displays Tillman,Cantwell Goldson/Davies.Sakala and in some ways Morelos.* 4) Keeper problem deepening although he had one good save. 5) Full backs need rested. 6) Finally, today the absolutely ridiculous flagging for off-side rule resulted in an injury due to late flag. This was always going to happen and unfotunately for Lundstram he was the victim. * Did not include late subs.1 point

I am fully aware of how incorrect I am...but what is the fun in that?1 point

We play with one striker who isn’t a finisher or poacher. When he’s on his game he can do the other stuff well but his finishing is the weakest part of his game. Colak had pretty much equalled Morelos’ goal tally for the past 3 seasons prior to the break. I can understand why Beale is considering playing both.1 point

Two things, and they are rather obvious: Not dropping points is because Goldson and Davies are now our centre-half pairing, being fit and up to form again. Under Gio, it was makeshift time for long spells and Goldson was hardly looking in any sort of a form that he is capapble off. Not putting teams to the sword is because we play the same tactics over and over again. The things that turn our games now is the introduction of a true attacker on the right wing (he goes by the name of Sakala) and that Tillman is grabbing the ball and heads and shoots at goal in a manner that should see Kent go pale with shame. Cantwell looks really up for it, is clever and shoots as well. If Raskin comes close to that and Hagi gets back into action, we have a solid attacking midfield ready. Yet, I would still prefer two real strikers against teams that put 7+ men into the area.1 point

Poor overall performance imo. But a couple of highlights, like Raskin giving 100% from the off & the nice link up between Cantwell and Tillman for the goal.1 point

The game changed when sakala got booked. The ease in which the ref booked our players after whilst ignoring opposition fouls was concerning to say the least. Didnt think kamara on for sakala was too clever. Tillman again with another jekyl and hyde performance . Cantwell and riskin both look the part though and along with jack or lundstrum well have a midfield weve been crying out for.1 point

Wasn't at the game today but sounds like I didn't miss much. Take the 3 points and move on!1 point

Cantwell & Raskin both look like the sort of creative players we've been missing for years, so its great to see them both getting minutes. We still seem to be losing really soft goals due to individual errors which come against the run of play. It's like we lose concentration as a team and the other team seize the initiative and before you know it they've scored. I'd still be happy to see the back of our two first choice keepers, full-backs and maybe a CB or two. Anyway, am glad that's over. Let's just forget about it and move on.1 point

Raskin was on the pitch for 5 minutes and still won more tackles than anyone else.1 point

Impressed with the two new signings, Cantwell motm for me ,and Raskin doing really well in the short time that he was on.1 point

You're being silly. With a wing-span like that, surely he'd be more effective than Jon?1 point

Referee seems to only be able to book our players it seems. Callachan avoided 2 yellows in 5 mins.1 point

I'm still disappointed. OK—It's not going to be free-flowing football against a team that puts everyone behind the ball, but we need to do more in the final third: more third-man runs, etc.1 point

Oh right, well as none of us have any power let's just close the forum rather than discuss it!1 point

Good luck replacing him for £1M - thats what we paid for him. He is a "package" and I think, and this is important in any discussion we have about any player, MB, understands and relies on what Alfie brings to the team and get the impression he is keen to keep Alfie. As for being unreliable, his longest absence from the team came when our former manager played Alfie when he was clearly injured leading to long lay off and argueably cost us the Europa League. However Rangers fans being Rangers fans, we wouldn't be happy if Haaland was playing up front for us.1 point

He's done not to bad for someone who's been lazy, overweight and miserable for 50% of his time here. He is now our all time leading scorer in Europe, has passed Kris Boyds goal tally for his 1st stint at Rangers and has rag-dolled defenders all across Europe and on his day he is unplayable. He was ran into the ground by Gio who must have been the only person in Scotland who couldn't see where that was heading. I know it's if and / or buts, but if he was fit at the end of last season, we would have won the EL. The media in Scotland have painted him as the villain, away fans detest him and have racially abused him on more than one occasion. Alfie is Alfie - you need to take him as package and its no coincidence that Beale seems to get the best out of him in both his stints at Rangers. Long may that continue as he fits Beales style dar more than Colak (who I rate) ever will.1 point

Can shut this thread down now that the window is over, can we not1 point

He has been carrying an injury, according to Beale and I'd say he's been far better than 'mediocre' in the last few games. A lot of the players seemed disinterested during GvB's last few weeks/months.1 point

Aye, that's exactly what it is. Us Rangers fans are a strange bunch. Player doesn't show emotion then we hate them, player clearly gets us and its "birthday card p1sh". Do you ever take a moment to think and reflect on why opposition fans hate Alfie so much? I can never work out why Rangers fans hate him though, a real mystery. We'll be a worse team without him.1 point

Gotta luv the daft wee bugger. He is getting back to the form that saw him become our top European scorer and a forward who can rag doll defenders for fun. If he can get back to top form, I'd happily keep him.1 point
