Frustrating watching Rangers these day's you see the pass they should be making then they hit the ball back or square you see players standing as if waiting on a bus instead of moving creating space enticing the defender out of position4 points

Happy enough with the 3 points but that was yet another god-awful watch. I blame myself partly as after 25 minutes I remarked that this was probably the best start we have made to a game under MB and it could be a big turnaround and a big score, and from almost that moment on it fell away and was turgid. Jack was extremely stupid, and very lucky, and had to be taken off as he wouldnt have got away with another tackle. I thought the penalty was harsh as it hit him from no distance at all from where I was (admittedly at the other end of the ground so wasnt a great view of it). I thought Collum was off his meds with the 3 big decisions in the game as it is definitely not like him to give that penalty and not red card Jack after being forced by VAR to red card an opponent he wasn't even going to book just a minute or so earlier. Cantwell had a decent id f unspectacular debut. He looked very similar to Lowry to me, same sort of style and vision. It seems to be a position we are well off for. MB in his programme notes clearly agrees and says he now has SEVEN players for that position. He says "Todd is someone who connects the midfield and the forwards, similar to Kent, Hagi, Tillman, Lawrence, Wright and Lowry. We have a number of these players who can receive the ball and can create chances and score goals." I suppose in this system he plays usually three or sometimes two of these players so having a bit of choice is desirable. That is now 10 games under MB and we havent lost any, winning 9 out of 10 (should have been 10!) but still most fans leaving the game yesterday were mumbling about how poor the football on show is. An absolutely massive test coming up on Wednesday against a Hearts team who are flying and when they are flying they are a very hard side to beat at Tynecastle. We have won every away game under MB to date, so hopefully this continues this week. I dont care about the performance on Wednesday, if we can somehow get the 3 points I will be absolutely delighted.3 points

I went inside both the retail shop/cafe from one queue and then the fanzone in the other. Both are lovely and should be a good addition for fans who turn up early for games. Going into the shop/cafe, you enter the ground floor where it is all retail dotted about, but you can go upstairs where there is even more retail covering about half the upstairs space, with a small corner showing some stuff showcasing the upcoming museum, and a cafe with some seating areas surrounding it. A DJ is playing non-Rangers music, didnt quite see the point of that. Either Rangers songs with the DJ or just background music that could be played from recordings, no need for a DJ in my opinion but it was a good space. Concrete floors could do with a carpet or better flooring, perhaps that is still to come and they didnt quite have time for it in their rush to get open. I then left there and joined the bigger queue to get into the fanzone around 2.15pm yesterday. My mate had been in for about 30 minutes by this time and heard interviews with Helander, Matondo & Henderson as well as Jane Ross. Standing room only, with some high tables dotted about and a bar at either end, one a full bar and one just for pints. £4.95 a pint and cashless. It all comes to a halt about 2.30 when the bar shuts. All in all I really enjoyed the experience and will definitely make this part of my pre-game routine, much better than sitting in the bookies!3 points

I see Cantwell’s future as the furthest forward of the 3 centre mids. He could create a lot there without having to be a regular goalscorer. The front three all need to be regular goalscorers, which is why I hope Kent moves on. He’ll never be that player.3 points

And this is why we need a new league, call it Atlantic, Super league 2 whatever, but we need to get out of parochial Scotland.2 points

Visited the downstairs bit of shop and fan zone post match… ideal for killing a bit of time instead of queuing for the subway. Decent space and will be great for taking kids pre match I reckon.2 points

Truth be told, he never looked as fit as Colak or most of our other strikers. But he knew - once - where the goal stood and was able to hit it from various angles and positions. These days, he's lost quite a bit of that and thus the rest of his differences to e.g. Colak come to the fore. Maybe we can melt him and Kent into one guy ... But yes, we do need some solid striker who outlasts a season. I doubt it will be Nisbet or Shankland, as both Edinburgh clubs will want silly money.2 points

Had we any interest in Dykes or Stewart, this will be off the table now, as Stewart has ruptured his achilles and Dykes entered hospital for illness. Speedy recovery to both ... yet, just for a split second imagine we had signed them early in January. 😱2 points

Much of this season, IMHO, has been wrecked by injury and poor form from those on the park. The one thing that has happened since Beale is that we have won most of our games - even came close to beating the Scum. Yet, that was mainly - IMHO - down to us getting our defence in order and stopped conceding silly goals. We have not really scored more goals or set up any differently. Goldson found his steady form and Davies is a proper centre-half too. Neither are of the special variety though, and we have had enough scary moments to remind us of that. The one thing that really changed our fortunes of late was - IMHO - the introduction of Sakala on the right. For all the shortcomings attributed to him, he is a thorn in anyone's defence and has contributed to 9 (3 goals, 6 assists) of our 23 goals since Beale took over. He's keeping defenders busy and opens up spaces for others to run into. If only they would ... We need to find a formula to get Hagi and Tillman running the show behind the two strikers. They provide the creative spark and will also try to shoot. Yesterday could have been a fine time to go "3"-5-2 with Lundstram/Jack (hence the "") being the DM in front of the two real centre-halfs, while two strikers and another attacking midfielder should have been put on. Yet, we put on like-for-like and stuck to our game plan. Let's see what the Hearts game brings, but for some reason I doubt that we will change much. Then again, Hearts are on a high and will want to play their own game, so the 2 DMs are a certainty. Morelos is getting back to his fitness levels, yet, in front of goals he's somewhat rusty again. Colak has played but 64 mins under Beale, mainly down to injury, so might need some time to get back to sharpness. And if anything, it is time that we don't have.2 points

He hasn't been able to get much of a look in because of the injuries. You can't judge him until we see him play a few games.2 points

I would give them £2.5m for Nisbet. I don't think that's too much. We were signing Kevin Thomson for that much 20 years ago. I doubt they'd accept it from us, though.1 point

Yes, I’m incredibly suspicious of anyone who travels to a club to sign when everything is agreed and then has a last minute change of mind.1 point

Not just that when the Saints had a corner we had all our ten outfield players defending, why not have one or two forward in centre circel, baffling. Don't know if it was a deliberate ploy to confuse fans but the scoreboards in second half were showing the time as starting first half then went completely blank.Maybe if we didn't know how long had gone or to go they thought it would keep the subway loyal in place longer.🤣1 point

The inevitable win but performance still lacking. A lot of enthusiasm without cohesion from individuals who were understandably rusty or not sure where others were going to be. The ballers, Tillman and Cantwell seemed more interested in effort than doing what we need them to. Tillman was excellent at winning the ball back from the opposition. Cantwell needs minutes but can't help think Lowry could be doing the same. The fiesta moves on. Hearts in Edinburgh will be an interesting test.1 point

The thread has touched on financial challenges. Elsewhere, some have mentioned that the league is already gone. Whilst in an ideal world, we just pay the extra money and get the players in now (along with salaries) so the manager can settle them into team/squad asp.... surely given the world is far from ideal, the option of a Bosman, leaving more money to play with during the summer should be seriously considered.1 point

What on earth does "Presenting Partner" even mean? I have read the article and am still absolutely none the wiser. I am hoping we got more than just free use of their buses in return for such a prestigious deal. Given what Parks charge Supporters Clubs to go to games these days, it is easy to see where they got the money to "invest" in a deal to be presenting partner of EH.1 point

The financial disparity in Europe was evident yesterday. Roma's Nicolo Zaniolo, one of the most promising young talents in world football, is being fought over by Milan and Bournemouth. Milan are struggling to compete. Scudetto winner and European great vs relegation candidate. Mental.1 point
