I have sat for a couple of hours contemplating whether I should make this post and, what forum would be most appropriate. I decided I would submit the article because genuinely, I would like to know the answer. Further, since most Gersnetters will be familiar with the names and, their continuing actions against Rangers and Rangers supporters; Rangers Chat is suitable. Today in the Herald, Kevin McKenna utilises his weekly column to lionise the Parish Priest of the Immaculate Conception church in Maryhill, Glasgow. Father James Lawlor has bucked the trend of falling congregation numbers by standing up alongside some of his parishioners who are fighting the Home Office's attempts to deport their families. Certainly, it is a story worth telling. Kevin has been prominent in both the written and broadcast press in Scotland these last 35 years. The Priest's name also rang a bell? Father Jim Lawlor began his journey thirty-odd years past at Our Lady of Fatima in Dalmarnock, Glasgow. Half a mile from Sellik park and his life was a misery. The church was regularly vandalised and he was threatened. The Police advised he should remove his clerical collar whilst moving around his parish. Father Jim had an outlet for his frustrations, ra Sellik View provided the necessary. Dalmarnock was under heavy reconstruction and declining population lead to the closure of Father Jim's church. The preparation for the Commonwealth Games was not all bad, ra Sellik were beneficiaries of Glasgow District Council selling off Dalriada Street, Kinloch Street and, Janefield Street to the club, for a Penny(one pence). Father Jim reappeared in Penilee at Our Lady and St George. Like Kevin, he made the front page of the Sun. Two elderly female parishioners let themselves into the church of a Sunday evening, with the intention of cleaning. Beeb Scotland wanted Kyle done and the story was kept alive by the likes of RAB Cosgrove regularly demanding to know, what the football authorities were doing? Actually, not nearly as many times as he told us(the listeners) how big(BIG) a friend, 'BIG KEV' is to the show'; "oh aye, big Kevin is a regular listener to the show". It is like Gerry Braiden, Irvine welsh, Jum, Angela, ...... etc - big listener means big contributor by proxy. Lafferty has just finished a ten game ban, he has lost both appearance and bonus monies. If that is the way to go, what has happened to Martin Compston? Did RAB or any of those others mentioned demand action be taken after Martin conducted the balaclava choir in Las Vegas at ra Sellik convention? This month alone, Martin has appeared on BBC Scotland in Mayflies, Travels Across Scotland and, Rig. I will ask again, how do they do it?

Patterson and even moreso, Bassey were forces of nature that drove down their respective wings and delivered. Physique and power are very important in todays game and I think help give Tillman the advantage over Lowry, as it stands.

It's a fair and reasonble point of view Cammy, I just don't like seeing more avenues to the first team close for our own young promising players like Lowry. Hagi & Lawrence will both be fit soon (hopefully) and that makes it even less likely that Lowry will get a good run of games needed to make the jump up to a first team starter. I wonder if any manager now or in future the will feel at liberty to give a youngster a chance like Advocaat done with Barry Ferguson. Not just a few games, but a true run at it. Specially as we don't have such a strong team of pros to help a young guy learn now.

I agree that a lot more depends on the lad himself. Too many youngsters don't apply themselves enough. They don't want it badly enough. Beale is good to listen to but I get the impression that a lot of it is window dressing. Nobody wanted to watch a Gio presser and its make a cup of tea and get the biscuits out for the Beale show. I thought Gerrard got the tone and content just right in pressers. No big deal, it is the results that matter.

Some players work better at certain clubs. Some players work better with certain managers. I wouldn't get too hot and bothered until deals are struck. It's nothing more than speculation at the moment.

I didn't know that. All I'd seen online was that their fans wanted rid of him, our fans thought he was useless, presumably based on what their fans said. And so the circle goes round and round... What we as a support need to realise is that the Academy is set up to develop players who'll well sell. Patterson was sold for circa £16M after playing a handful of games for us. Bassey was sold for circa £20M after a good run of games, especially in Europe but let's remember his appearance in the team was out of necessity. What both those players had was a desire to develop, learn, train, knuckle down and play football at a high level. I don't doubt Lowery has the same ambition but does he have the same drive and determination? If he does, he'll get game time and get his rewards. For what it's worth, the little I've heard from young Devine tells he has the drive and determination and has all the ability. Only time will tell I suppose.

Whatever misgivings or doubts anyone has about individual players, we really have to give the manager a chance to bring his players in and build his way. The degrees of pressure at Rangers will mean that 95%+ of the time, developing youngsters will get pushed down the pecking order when the manager can bring in more expreienced players. Pressure that makes establishing a player trading model much more challenging. No player trading model and our finances don't work. Unforunately, Lowry would be better off going elsewhere and getting regular first team football.

Sometimes I wonder how fans got on judging signings in the days before transfermarkt etc, the only players you'd see were when they played against us. Now we have allsorts of armchair superagents. 🤣

Liverpool were once interested at £20M. Guy has EPL and Championship experience and with him being in a free, it's worth a punt. No reason he can't regain the form that saw Liverpool looking at him.

If Cantwell is interested, I'd rather we bring him in now assuming it's not silly money. If he's not involved at Norwich, they'll want him off the wage bill and will be resigned to him leaving in the summer anyway. There's going to be a reasonable turnover of playing staff in the summer so it would help if we started that rebuild now and had some players bedded-in by pre-season.

The IFAB rules are clear mate. If the ball comes up towards the players face from close quarters (it did) and the player instinctively throws his hands up to protect his face (Goldson did) then the decision of the referee is to play on (Beaton did). Buster, plus all the raging Tims (not buster), can complain all they like (in buster's case say we would be screaming for a penalty) but they all would be proven to be completely wrong. Beaton, and Collum as VAR, applied the rules exactly as they should have. Tims are now complaining that the ref in Aberdeen v Livi never gave a penalty for the exact same situation (apparently, I dont watch any games other than ours) - but instead of lambasting the ref that day and applauding Beaton for getting it absolutely spot on..... they are chastising Beaton.... for applying the rules correctly. Only in Timland.....
