  1. What !! No communication about our new Communications man 😁 Maybe taking time to translate it from Gaelic.

  2. Davie Edgar says the communications role has been split in 2, and the new roles are at a less senior position. Morrison is in charge of the non-football playing side.

  3. Goalies are like drummers. Keep them in the background and don't ask them their opinion, as they're all a bit nuts.

  8. Fleck would be a great signing... ... 15 years ago. Oh, wait. (For me, letting Fleck go was one of the most stupid decisions we've ever made.)

  9. It’s just not the keeper it’s the whole defence that needs replaced never going to have success with the present lot but the problem is we don’t have the money so it’s time to employ a good defensive coach and bring in the boys that’s the cheapest option an might be the most beneficial one .

  14. Caldow got plenty until he was crippled as did Wilson. From memory McCann didn’t get another. Shearer might have but like McNeil and Mackay, who both got a few more, there was stern competition for their places. (Hamilton, McKinnon and Baxter) Up front St John and Law continued as regulars. Wee Johnny McLeod of the Hibs and Father Quinn of Motherwell, both good players, didn’t receive the call thereafter. Motherwell had three players in the team

  15. Jude Bellingham is obviously a very good footballer and from what I've read, his brother shows similar potential and as such, he'll get far better offers than Rangers in the near future. We have to accept what market we're in (it's no longer the 90s).

  16. Maybe Bellingham minor made his Brum debut at an age older than than Bellingham major was on his first appearance.

  17. Garnet Symbolism. Fair's fair? Today's national BBC lunchtime news bulletin contained an item on Liverpool supporters expressing concern at the tediousness of constant chants from away supports concerning the pursuit of justice for those killed at the Hillsborough Disaster. It was a two-three minute piece to camera from BBC north of England correspondent, Nick Garnett. His interview with Jurgen Klopp had already been shown, then clips of opposition fans abuse outside Anfield and, an interview with a sister of a victim of Hillsborough followed. Outside the Liverpool ground, Nick Garnett addressed the camera with, "just like Rangers supporters with the Ibrox Disaster, United fans with Munich and, Spurs support constantly being regaled with anti-semitic chants; Liverpool fans say they have had enough". In a week where an element of ra Sellik away support at Ibrox once again deliberately disrupted the minute's silence for the 66, it is heartening to be reminded that NOT all the Beeb is heartless towards those that attended a game of football but failed to return home. Of course, BBC Scotland did not report, question or, discuss the actions of the Green Brigade. It is accepted, it is the way it is. Thank you Nick Garnett.

  19. Reading elsewhere that our biggest fee for a keeper was Jesper Christiansen - that's some stat if correct!

  22. Positional roles change. Goalkeepers now have to do so much more. We're limited if we continue with a pure shot-stopper.

  23. Indeed. I fail to see why they would be happy with a deal that limits their income, much as we are. But I think they saw an avenue to let us continue ploughing a lone furrow on SPFL governance, and are picking their battles to maintain as much influence as they can by seeming to place the rest of the country against big bad Rangers (again).

  24. “Goalkeeper” - the clue is in the name. I like him to keep the ball from going into the net. He should be able to command the box and direct the defence at set-pieces. Anything after that is a useful bonus. We didn’t worry about McGregor until last season. He hasn’t suddenly lost his attack building skills. He never had them. He is leaking goals. That’s why his cup-final cameo should have been his last appearance.

  25. Hmm. Colour me cynical but I've yet to see anything from Celtic bemoaning the new TV deal for thier pals at Sky..

  26. We have been spoiled in regards to the quality of keepers we've had for decades - Woods, Goram, Klos, McGregor and even Alaxeder. Replacing international and at times world class keepers ain't easy.

  27. I doubt they'll get VAR binned but their main aim is to put pressure on officials enough to make sure more decisions go in their favour. They'll probably be successful to an extent.

  28. I get it. We’re so used to things going against us, seemingly against all sense. But on this, it would essentially be going against the whole footballing world which has embraced VAR for all its imperfections. It’s not going back in the box in my view

  29. Agreed and Wilson would have been working with Gio on targets until he was removed. No guarantee that those targets would have fitted into Beales thinking / plans. I would also assume that MB got some guarantees from Board on budgets and signings prior to taking over.

  30. VAR is going no-where unless one day it was the financial cost of it that couldn't be supported.

  34. Last season McGregor looked like a player who should have retired the year before. This year he looks the same, but another year slower. He may still have that ability to make the sort of world class saves that only elite keepers can, but how much do we really need that over a season? TBH, I've not even seen much of that this season. Its a bit sad really. Unfortunately his distribution is poor; he's not great with the ball at his feet; he doesn't come off his line (although he never really has); he doesn't come for crosses; he can't play that "sweeper keeper" role either. All of that has lead to a very shaky looking defence at times - often they don't seem to know whether to leave a ball for him or just clear it. There was a point last season where every team we played in the league was putting balls in to the six yard box because they knew he wouldn't come for them and it would cause utter confusion. But he must still be the best we have based on what he's doing in training. Again, its another sign of the poor squad management we seem to be suffering from.
