Given we're out the title race, I don't see the point in loans. Best to develop/coach our own players.8 points

Given how the league has gone, now we have Goldson and Davies back, should we not give McCrorie a run in the team to see if he is good enough or not? If he is, we've saved ourselves a fortune and have a #1 for the next 5 years. If not, we can let him go. Surely at his age we need to do one or the other?7 points

The way things transpired with the Hampden farewell sub appearance gave an insight to how our squad management is being conducted.5 points

Partly it will be to appease their support. Partly to make a noise and influence refs. I recall, when the combative war criminal John Reid was their hands-on chairman, they sent a video to the SFA regards decisions they were unhappy about. I think it may have been in Feburary 2010 when we were winning the league under Walter Smith.....Under the surface the crowds at Parkheid were significantly down and they decided on Mission Conflict to get the support onside. The extension of that was the springtime appointment of Neil Lennon. Followed by a summer tour of various supporters clubs by Lennon and Lawwell, where they told the hordes that conflict would be stepped up if they didn't get their way.......Later in the same year there was DougieGate. Full blown warfare, rallying the hordes. Crowds increased significantly. They completely forgot to mention bad decisions that benefitted them in a previous season that they had won the league. It was one after another, I recall an late Aberdeen equaliser at the Midden being ruled out for nothing and an opening goal for them against Falkirk (IIRC) punched into the net, etc. etc. Edit Might have years mixed up but points stand. https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/scottish/referee-admits-blunder-in-ruling-out-aberdeen-goal-813899.html The referee Iain Brines has admitted he wrongly disallowed the goal that could have finished Celtic's title challenge. Brines penalised Aberdeen's Zander Diamond for handball seconds before the defender fired the ball into the top corner of the net for what he thought was a last-gasp equaliser at Celtic Park on Saturday. Instead Celtic moved top of the Scottish Premier League with a 1-0 victory.4 points

There are too many problems with depth of field, and angle of the shot for the photograph to be definitive. It's a 2 dimensional representation of 3 dimensional situation.4 points

You could scream about it all you like, and you would be wrong to do so. The rules on the penalty incident are very clear. It was NOT a penalty. Beaton and the VAR got it absolutely spot on.3 points
-
Why are we being dragged down to their level. It's a handball. It's not a penalty.3 points
-
I honestly think they could beat us 10-0, with five penalties and three Rangers players sent off and they'd still whine about the ref. It's a genetic inferiority complex and a complete lack of grace they suffer from. Terrible affliction.3 points

If McCrorie was good enough, he'd have been our first choice by now. As it stands, we have three keepers who aren't good enough to be No.1 at Rangers.3 points

I find it difficult to blame Ross Wilson for us not signing anyone already as we don't know all the facts. It can depend on a number of issues including availability of the players we want and the finances available.3 points

Last season McGregor looked like a player who should have retired the year before. This year he looks the same, but another year slower. He may still have that ability to make the sort of world class saves that only elite keepers can, but how much do we really need that over a season? TBH, I've not even seen much of that this season. Its a bit sad really. Unfortunately his distribution is poor; he's not great with the ball at his feet; he doesn't come off his line (although he never really has); he doesn't come for crosses; he can't play that "sweeper keeper" role either. All of that has lead to a very shaky looking defence at times - often they don't seem to know whether to leave a ball for him or just clear it. There was a point last season where every team we played in the league was putting balls in to the six yard box because they knew he wouldn't come for them and it would cause utter confusion. But he must still be the best we have based on what he's doing in training. Again, its another sign of the poor squad management we seem to be suffering from.3 points

On Monday he made a “save” in the first half that was going wide by a yard. Pushes the ball out for a corner.2 points

Should have booked O'Reilly for that challenge on Lundstram after a minute or so and bottled it.2 points

Our goalkeeper situation should have been sorted last Summer. If we don't buy a new No.1 in the next two windows then we're in for more defensive misery.2 points

I think you’re onto something, my dear Watson!1 point

I don’t think it’s as simple as that. Much as they have the biggest influence, they can’t control all the votes and even they have to pick their battles. I think the sky deal is a good example of that. Essentially the tail wagging the OF dogs, and there was nothing we could do to stop it.1 point

VAR is going no-where unless one day it was the financial cost of it that couldn't be supported.1 point

Just like Raul and Morientes and Xavi, he’s bound for parkhead, surely.1 point

Absolutely. I've seen pics taken from Cathkin with a long lens that make Ben Lomond look as if it towers over the city. Stills can be very easily manipulated.1 point

But will there be written into the contract a loan deal at Newcastle if the geordies qualify for the champions league.1 point
-
Yes, it is similar to blowing up for every contact (football generally) to now allowing play to flow more. And as you say, the inconsistency has brought confusion.1 point

The handball rule did swing far too much into them all being given and now has come back to a more common sense approach, where the referee/VAR can make a decision on a case-by-case basis. If you get a shot blasted at your face from a couple yards, then it's instinctive to raise your arms to protect yourself. I prefer the current approach.1 point

The IFAB rules are clear mate. If the ball comes up towards the players face from close quarters (it did) and the player instinctively throws his hands up to protect his face (Goldson did) then the decision of the referee is to play on (Beaton did). Buster, plus all the raging Tims (not buster), can complain all they like (in buster's case say we would be screaming for a penalty) but they all would be proven to be completely wrong. Beaton, and Collum as VAR, applied the rules exactly as they should have. Tims are now complaining that the ref in Aberdeen v Livi never gave a penalty for the exact same situation (apparently, I dont watch any games other than ours) - but instead of lambasting the ref that day and applauding Beaton for getting it absolutely spot on..... they are chastising Beaton.... for applying the rules correctly. Only in Timland.....1 point

Isn't it irrelevant whether it hit his hand or not at this point? I'm pretty sure I saw something that said even if it hit his hand, with the position it was in and the circumstances, according to IFAB, its not a penalty? Personally, if that was at the other end, I would be screaming it was a penalty, but then, I don't think anybody truly knows the handball rule anymore...1 point

Agree and failed to book the wee jap late on for trying to trip similar to what he booked Jack for minutes before.1 point

Stills are completely unreliable in such situations, has been proven before.1 point

Its probably not coincidence McGregor renewed a day after Sam Johnston who we were heavily linked with signed for Palace on a free.1 point

Only loans we should be going for are loan to buy deals like Tillman, Hagi and Steve Davis first time round. The Billy Gilmour stuff is not happening his uncle said on a few podcasts now. Plus he is on more than our highest paid player supposedly.1 point

I was questioning the subs at the time, just as I questioned the subs at Aberdeen and at the Motherwell game. If he gets the subs right, and takes the knackered Kamara off for say Arfield, then Kyogo is not left unmarked to score the equaliser, as Kamara was a couple of yards away and didnt track him. Yes of course if Tav makes the tackle (both goals) or Jack doesnt fanny about then the ball doesnt get to Kyogo in the first place. Also if he puts Roofe or Colak or Arfield on instead of Sands, then perhaps they score the opportunity when Sands gets the ball in a great opportunity and refuses to shoot and ends up losing the ball instead. We didnt need to go all defensive to see the game out from 60 mins, we had them exactly where we wanted them and should have pushed on for a comfortable win. Do you think our opponent would have done the same? It comes down to in-game management and footballing philosophy, and while its early days I am somewhat troubled by what i've seen in this area to date.1 point
-
Very much so. Devine should get a run of games at RB and Tav should be told to sort his body out. Lowry is our player, Tillman would take a significant chunk of any transfer budget. Give AL a chance. Sands is just an obvious NO.1 point

After watching the Goldson penalty incident again, is it 100% certain it actually hits his hand(s) ? The yahoos are still banging on about this but it went to VAR & wasn’t taken any further by the VAR ref.1 point
-
Yeah and Birmingham are just gonna let him join Rangers (or any other team for that matter) on loan. As you say Craig, his potential is well know within the game and weirdly, he'll probably end up at Dortmund when Jude leaves for Real or Liverpool.1 point
-
The subs didn't cost us the game - defensive errors cost us the win (or forwards missing chances). If we had seen the game out, NO Rangers fan questions the subs.1 point
-
Posted earlier, I heard Arfield sustained an injury whilst playing with his kids at home New Year's Day. No matter who came on, we should have seen the game out. If we had, no one would be questioning MBs subs.1 point
