I think it's more down to Soutar and Helander not being reliable.3 points

Not just that but surely we can also all see that Beale is getting more from these players after a month than what Gio had got from them in 6 months. Someo f those we have said need to go..... may just have been needing a new boss - sad as that sounds. I had it on fairly good authority that the players absolutely hated Gio's training sessions - many said they were boring. Beale needs time and his own recruitments.3 points

Alternatively if MB and his staff can get Alfie back to his best, we have a £12-£15M striker on our hands. However, we only paid £1M for him so if he leaves for nothing......3 points

Given we're out the title race, I don't see the point in loans. Best to develop/coach our own players.2 points

Posted earlier, I heard Arfield sustained an injury whilst playing with his kids at home New Year's Day. No matter who came on, we should have seen the game out. If we had, no one would be questioning MBs subs.2 points

I had a short interview with Glasgow Times outside megastore when Gio ended and said that watching Gio's team had become a chore and now under Beale I am beginning to enjoy the games again.2 points

Lille, he was flying at the time to be fair i think but we could have brought in 3-4 with that money, 16 million Euro i think the Lille president confirmed on Talksport we knocked back. I think we as a club need to get into a mindset that if a good offer comes in for a player we sell regardless of form. No player is irreplaceable. We will take hits on the likes of Morelos, Kent and Kamara. Aribo, Patterson and Bassey were great examples of how we should do it.2 points

He will walk on a free and I've made my peace with it. I reckon he will end up in the MLS or middle east. I dont see him getting anywhere near a decent European League.2 points

Took a while for me to get down from the seething levels yesterday, alas, working afterwards at our ice-hockey venue did help. First half was de facto atrocious, it sure took us 30 mins before we got going. The only two reasons I could think of regarding the appearance of Kamara in the starting line-up was a) to put him in the shopping window, or b) an slight injury to Jack. For all the lovely footballer that he is, he offers very little in a DM role, and even less as an attacking player. As I wrote in the thread above, seeing him close and near to the opposition's box is all you need to know about what is wrong in the line-up. I don't know why neither of his managers told him that shooting at goal is part of the game. You can - and we did in the 2nd half in spells - only get them problems at pressing them and keeping them in their half. While our front three tried their best, those behind them for long spells did not, so they far too often easily passed their way around us. Morelos looks half the player that Colak is when it comes to pressing, in general, he just jogged around for long spells and when he had chances, he returned to his pre-injury routine of missing 5 before getting one on target / a goal. Kent likewise did a lot of running with no real effect. The first half almost fully bypassed Tillman, who I would have thought was meant to be our creative hub. And that's not for a lack of trying on his part, but mediocre passing or choice of passing by the rest. Second half exploded into action, as I said, they should serve the half-time tea (talk) before the game - from now on. The much critised Sakala (our most direct player and - Tillman aside - one willing to shoot) grabbed two assists in setting up Kent (after his wasted shot earlier) and forcing their defender into conceding the penalty. He continued to work his socks off afterwards, till the end, a change for him too. We sort of dominated them from then on, but our main drawback came to the fore again: too few players take responsibility as well as running into free spaces. There was one 3 minute period where we had 4 of our players first exchanging passes on the left side of the area with just one of our guys in the middle, then it all moved to the right side of the area. They mopped that up with throwing people in and the opportunities were wasted. That's what you get when you play DMs and CMs willing to pass the ball about, but hardly any real intention to actually go for goal. We took of Lundstram because of injury, when i had hoped Kamara getting the hook. Then Wright replaced Morelos and Sakala, who had run himself into the ground taking the sole striker slot. 2 subs, one enforced, and three more available, with three attack-minded players on the bench (NB: if they weren't fit for 10-20 mins, why put them on the bench in the first place?). Were we willing to see this game out? Then we get Sands on for Tillman 5+ mins before the end, when they threw on their potent attackers - reasonable, but more invitation for them to attack us. Which they did and - as per usual - grabbed an IMHO by then undeserved equalizer. At the time, our attacking threat was Kent (hey ho), Sakala, and Wright. When you play them, the best way to keep them at bay is putting them on the back-foot. During the last 20 mins we handed them the momentum, withdraw quite a bit of firepower and got what we deserved. Got what we deserved? Yep. I am sick and tired of this one-striker stuff with no goal-scoring attackers next to him. It hasn't worked for years - Europe aside, but it is a different ball game there. Granted, this season has been wrecked by injury and illness to vital players. Granted, Beale got almost all points out of the games we played under him (but better remind no-one of Aberdeen or Ross County), but we are still making silly mistakes or playing people who hardly contribute where it matters. The last time games were won by passes completed or chances created was never. So why we keep goal-threats like Roofe, Colak, and Arfield benched in vital games like yesterday, a game that might have kept our title chase alive, is totally beyond me. Why we can't play a system and the corresponding players in a way that presses and attacks the opposition for the full 90 mins when we have them available is equally beyond me, this season or last. There's hope that with all them returning people the way we play might change. But in the here and now watching Rangers is truly no joy for the eye.2 points

I thought he played well 2nd half. He bullied their defenders and this allowed Kent and especially Sakala to drive us forward. However he was average (at best) first half.2 points

But bringing Sands on didn't cost us the victory. It wasn't Sands fault for the equaliser and it wasn't Sands who missed a chance at 2-1 to kill the game. It also wasn't Sands who failed to hit the target with two headers at the end of the 1st half. No matter who MB brought on, we had less than 10mins to see the game out. As for Arfiled, if what I heard yesterday is correct, he was injured whilst playing football at home with his kids. As MB has said since the day he arrived back at the club the fitness levels are shockingly bad and we have to play players who are carrying injuries. This minimises who we can start and who we can bring on to influence games. A worrying trend this season is the opposition seem to score with their only shots on target and this continued yesterday with Celtic having only 2 shots on target.2 points

There's a case to be made that, while recent recruitment has been a huge failure, the root of it has been poor judgement when it comes to selling. Too often we've missed opportunities to cash in on players who could have funded better signings, only for those players to wither and end up as unsellable passengers ... Kamara and Morelos being two good examples.2 points

I’d doubt if we’ll see Helander playing again for Rangers. His contract expires at the end of this season. As for Souttar I think least said the better. Handing him a contract with his injury record was madness1 point

Sakala, easily! Not just for his attacking runs and the great assist for Kent, but also for giving Tav et al a much needed lesson on how to make a tackle. Glad to see Kent doing well too.1 point

The subs didn't cost us the game - defensive errors cost us the win (or forwards missing chances). If we had seen the game out, NO Rangers fan questions the subs.1 point

I never said Sands cost us the goal. I meant bringing on a defensive player to replace Tillman when Arfield was on the bench.1 point

Or when nobody communicates with us. I think we should all thank St Johnstone for communicating how we could spend our money.1 point

Sakala for me - Davies was good, Lundstram was decent and we lost midfield battle when he went off injured. Kents goal was a classic.1 point

Was it Nice or Lille who offered 12-15M euros for him a couple of years ago? I can't believe we turned that down given how erratic his form, fitness & attitude were. All the talk about how we should be holding out for more, it was a low-ball offer, he'll be worth 30/40M in years to come. Just another example of the poor decision making and squad mismanagement from those in charge.1 point

Dion Sanderson rumour gathering momentum, might be something in it.1 point

I guess Colak and Roofe are just coming back from injury which is why we started with Morelos. Arfield is clearly best used as an impact-sub, but we were in the ascendancy and should have got a third goal with the players and momentum we had, so I can see why he was left on the bench. Someone said he might have been carrying a knock too? Lundstram was also playing through an injury... All of which just brings us back to our fitness, injuries, squad management etc.1 point

There are many contributing factors wrt to size of 'warchest'. Bottomline We haven't spent the budget we have had wisely. Any team can have a bad window. However, when you have several successive failures, you need to heed the signal and look for the causes. One thing I have banged on about is poor squad mgmt. Including the attempt to squeeze value out of our spend by bringing in too many injury prone players.1 point

Morelos had his best spell (all round) at Rangers after the January International break of last year. He returned from Columbia (after zero minutes) like a man inspired and looked the mature, strong and sharp player we had hoped to see develop. Unfortunately, it didn't last for long as he picked up an injury. Gio had him play through it until he broke. At that point of approaching the final year of his contract, he more or less mentally checked out from Ibrox. The faster he is gone, the better.1 point

At the day's end it the result still leaves us trailing unable to defend is costing us big time1 point

I agree... that team, with those two subs should have been more than capable of seeing out the game. We had so many chances to clear the ball before they score, its just another one of those goals we should never have lost.1 point

Not matter his nationality or if he's an international, who's paying money for a player who is injured (or unfit) and uninterested and who can leave for nothing in the summer?1 point

Yip - to many fans "fixated" with the subs rather than the real issue. That is we conceded two very poor goals today and that's what caused us not to win the game.1 point

Watching highlights of the game, what was Ryan Jack doing at their second goal? He could have cleared it before it broke to the goal scorer1 point

I learned almost nothing about our players that I didn't already know. What I did take from the game today is that we've spent the season making Celtic look far better than they really are ... and that Mick Beale looks like being the right choice of manager after all.1 point

His honesty is refreshing and he tells it like it is. Players fitness and confidence levels very low, certain players playing through injuries for him, knows we'll get better when we get more players back. A long way round go but early signs are positive.1 point

I do like his honesty and for the first time in a while it at least feels like he's watching the same game as us. I definitely get the feeling he can see everything that needs to change and is wanting to do something about it. WIth Gio I was never sure how much he was trying to paint a positive picture while knowing we were in a bit of a mess, or if he was genuinely quite happy with how we were playing so long as were getting results. If only we'd held-on today, that would have been five wins out of 5 and we'd have cut the gap. I'm still very optimistic for the future under Beale though.1 point

I think Bill summed up my feelings. We were poor first half but could easily have gone in level. To then go in front early in the second half was almost unbelievable. Was really gutted not to see it out, but it is a lot more like it from us. Couple of lucky breaks for the equaliser too. The building blocks are getting put in place i think. Out of the two Americans - pay the money for Tillman but not Sands1 point

Heard today it was the council who objected to the display after the "pyros" at the Hibs game. I asked about the rumoured altercation outside Ibrox yesterday but haven't heard the real story. Wonder of the next GB display will be pulled at last minute as there are pyros in their section every home game. As you say the timing of the announcement was strange.1 point
