  1. In all my time as a Rangers fan I have heard this saying for Old Firm matches! I've never been convinced with that saying, no doubt the stat men will come on proving me wrong. This season has been horrible to watch/witness. Since the appointment of Michael Beale he has had four wins and we have improved from previous to his appointment, however this team still looks way short in the quality we all know they can perform at. We have had a terrible run of injuries to contend with for sure but we are getting players back fit which should improve our performances?. Our next match is the Old Firm on Monday and personally I am dreading it, our winning run under Beale looks good on paper but we can all see the team still isn't firing on all cylinders and in my opinion are not up for the title challenge. This all could change if we were to win on Monday! ''form goes out the window'', but I can't see how/where we are going to get to the level required to win this one?. Sorry for the doom & gloom post but I'm only being honest!. Mon the Rangers.

  2. Some Rangers fans have short memories (or define "last good while"). Guys confidence is rock bottom and its gonna stay there as long as we continue to ridicule him. Played in Germany and Belgium so he obviously has something to offer. We had a discussion on way through to game on our RSC regarding how we continuely talk our players down whilst the talk theirs up (no matter how bad they are).

  3. It’s not entirely new. I’ve been at games when the slow handclap (does that still exist?) would start before twenty minutes after which the crowd, 50,000 + mostly standing, would wait in sullen silence until something happened. I remember one match in the early sixties, with the legends on the park and goalless approaching half time and the patrons snarling and muttering. A huge bloke from one of the Fife clubs started bellowing at those around him to stop moaning and sing the Rangers songs. He then gave a complete and powerful rendition of Follow Follow unaccompanied and in utter silence. When he finished the carping resumed. Rangers supporters are an entitled bunch. “The team owes us. We don’t owe them” seems to be the attitude. At least in the old days the pubs didn’t open until 5pm so there was nowhere else to go. It’s not the first time I’ve heard about people arriving and leaving almost immediately. I don’t know why the alkies don’t just go to the pub where they’re obviously happiest and let football fans get their seats.

  4. It may be a rhetorical question, but why do some Rangers fans go to games? The atmosphere tonight was abysmal (it alway is apart from European games) and around me (BF4), fans on players backs from very early into game. Then to top it all, 2 guys behind me lasted an entire 6mins before declaring how sh1t the game was and promptly buggered off to The Louden.

  5. Matondo is destroying the reputation of all players that have played in Germany and Belgium. Scouts are now starting to acknowledge that it is possible to play in Germany and Belgium while having absolutely nothing to offer.

  6. I'll never forget that evening. Happy days.

  7. At Aberdeen, roundabout the 90th minute mark, I wrote this season off, with the best bet for silver being a cup or two. You never know how an OF game unfolds, but if we pick people who aren't up for it and aren't willing to run themselves into the ground, we are staring at certain defeat. We have enough players willing to give their all, Arfield, Jack, Sakala, Wright, Lundstram, Tillman, and Colak spring to mind. Others need to get out of their comfort zone first and produce from the word Go! IMHO, this season has been totally wrecked by injuries, both our strikeforce and central defense.

  8. Noise, enthusiasm, applause, positive reaction to positive performance. But not fukking drums. How about you?

  10. Celtic are on a great run, we haven’t laid a glove on them in the league since SG left. The squad looks weak in terms of ability and mentality. This game will show the manager who he can count on and who needs to go.

  11. This saying is usually used by the underdog as a rallying call and by the favourites to ward of complacency. As you say, there will be examples when the underdogs have triumphed but football is normally predictable and the favourites normally win. Unless form does go out the window or Celtic squad gets ravaged by Covid / illness / injury or Beale suddenly manages to emulate SG and find a method of beating them consistently, Celtic are more than likely to win. I always feel nervous before OF games no matter who's in form or how the league looks. Regarding Monday, I'm a currently "non-plussed" as can't see us winning (other than the scenarios above) and even if we do win, it won't mean much other than the usual OF "bragging rights". Like it or not, currently, Celtic don't look like losing domestically. They have scraped a few results, but win nonetheless. I'll go to Ibrox on Monday as nervous as usual and will go in hope rather than expectation. If we win I'll enjoy the spoils of victory, but like you, I'm not expecting much from Mondays game

  12. Tamundo might be the best player in the world but if a Rangers shirt is too heavy for him then he's of no use to anyone, least of all himself. We've seen this movie many times. Cut our losses, get rid of him now.

  13. Subtle feet very much have their place in football, you can clearly see in your ethos that US sports have conditioned your thinking. Strength, bulk, height, not so much need for skill. Gimme a proper footballer with wands for feet anytime, over a physical sample. Alex Lowry will develop into a top player, I have no doubt about that, I just hope it's in Govan.

  14. These are the years where the basics at the top level are hammered in and high level muscle memory is developed. The tippy tappy, cutesy crap can come later...maybe As for Messi, where he plays is immaterial, mimicry of him is...that much is obvious.

  15. Gone for Borna, just ahead of Alfredo. Shows exactly why he is such a good player for us and miles ahead of any other options in that position. 2 lovely assists, the first an absolute peach, and the second he puts right on Goldson's shoulder with a lovely inswinging corner. Overall another 3 points, another clean sheet, and another inept performance. But i will take another inept performance on Monday if we get 3 points. There are signs that one or two of our better players are getting back to form (Alfie, Kent) and we are back at what would probably be considered our first pick back 5, so really just the midfield that continues to be honking. Lundstrum, Jack, Davis, Arfield, Lowry, Sands, Kamara all been started in there in MB's reign and none have had good games from the start. It's a real problem area and one we need to be bang on for Monday.

  16. MB’s big test will be recruitment. It went a long way to finishing GvB. Any manager who signs a load of players who can’t get in the team will always end up in trouble. Few expect us to realistically win the league this season therefore who stays, who goes and who comes in next summer is vital for the season ahead

  17. Lowry needs to dump that 'cutesy' BS, hold possession and just make a damned pass. This ain't Spain....and he ain't Messi. He will learn.

  18. I think a lot of it comes down to habit/ritual and they don't enjoy going to watch Rangers. There also seems to be a bit of a disconnect between the club/squad and support at the moment, which is making it a bit worse than usual. I'm sick of the sight of many members of the current squad (I tend not to moan at matches though, other than an occasional "FFS" outburst).

  20. Might be a sh**e answer but for me it is simple----to watch the team I have supported for over 60 years, have done the old singing bit in past but am now a genteel pensioner still following MY team.

  21. I doubt very much if Matondo reads this or any other Rangers forum. I don’t see or hear anyone ridiculing him at games that much that would put him off, he’s just a very poor footballer.

  23. I think they were just being kind, boost his spirits. Not a chance he would have played even a third of games, hence why he should never have been re-signed.
