It seems many have forgotten that we only picked up 4 points from a possible 9 in the 3 league games before the break? There is no doubt a LOT of work to be done, but to pick up 9 points from 9 while not playing well, still having a lot of players out injured and a sickess bug. Add in two of those three games being weekday and long journeys away with minimal rest, I am happy with the start, its brings confidence that was so obviously non existant before the world cup. That gives us a much needed platform to build on, I'm optimistic for now6 points

Option A - Rewatch that entire game Option B - Suck bowl of diarrhoea through a straw Correct answer - Pass me that straw4 points

I'm not having a go at the kid, only 18 and being played out of position isn't easy, and coming into a team bereft of confidence is not an ideal set of circumstances, but I really dont see anything in Devine that is worthy of the praise I have seen here and elsewhere. Been caught out several times, final ball pretty poor, he is certainly no Nathan Patterson who you could tell was special from first sight. Got lots of time on his side but I am hopeful Borna is back soon, and Devine can continue to learn his trade under a bit less pressure. As for MOTM, gone for Lundstrum just for the goal as the rest of the match was poke-your-eyes-out-garbage. Happy to take the 3 points and move on. 2 massive home games to come now, there has to be improvement or its going to be ugly.3 points

You Jackass! Never tempt the bad Juju! In the spirit of the season: 'Jesus replied, “It is also written: ‘Do not put the [bad juju] to the test.’"'3 points

And there's one of the reasons the atmosphere at Ibrox is shite!.3 points

But some of the criticism is unfair and last night he was singled out when others missed as easy opportunities as he did. He created a good chance not long after he was introduced when he fired a ball across goal and Alfie was not far from connecting with it. He then hit a great shot that the keeper saved and IMO a fully fit / switched on Alfie would have diverted the rebound into the net. He should have scored when one on one with keeper (or passed to Kent) but he didn't take the right choice. Same happened a few times in final third when players chose the wrong option but they weren't slaughtered. Strange that we aren't discussing his good parts (highlighted above) but are focusing on the one thing he did wrong whilst glossing over other players "errors". The manager answered a question about Matondo post-match which mentioned earlier - maybe worth reflecting on his words and giving the lad some support.2 points

Celtic don’t need to thump anyone. They are 6 points ahead, game in hand and about 20 goals better off. They have also had us on toast in the league. They are coasting. Don’t expect us to waltz anything. These 3 performances under Beale remind me of the games we played this time last year under Gio and we all know what came shortly after. Would like to see some spark or something as a point of comfort but naturally happy picking up wins again. We need to improve chance creation, create more clear cut chances ( our best chances last night were when county came out more towards the end) and have more threat at set pieces. The defensive shape and structure will improve over time I’m confident of that. Im being harsh but we cant rely on many of these sick notes ever coming back and should be planning to replace them with hungry for players who want to play and who physically can play 90 mins twice a week over the course of a season.2 points

There's a player in Matondo, hopefully Beale and some confidence can tease it out soon. He was a wee bit unlucky tbh, gave keeper the eyes, did the right thing, was a couple of inches away from taking it round him. It's all about fine margins though eh, look at Sakalas goal in midweek, horrific first touch, second touch even worse, then slashes at the third. But, it ends up in the net so no one talks about it.2 points

Away with you, there is no place for common sense and a dose of reality on this (or any Rangers) message boards. In all seriousness - great post.2 points

To be fair, even when at his best Morelos has a tendency to miss sitters.2 points

No way. Matondo had plenty of time to make a decision and had the option to shoot or pass it. He looks completely bereft of confidence.2 points

Celtc aren't exactly thumping anyone at the moment either. We didn't play well tonight but were largely in control and if Kamara, Sakala and Matondo had managed to get a decent shot away we'd have walked it. Did folk expect us to waltz matches with a new manager, despite the horrendous injury list and lack of confidence in the squad?2 points

I don't think we should describe Morelos' effort as a "chance". I rebounded off him before he had any hope of reacting. Sakala, to be fair, made contact with the ball and his effort was on target but saved by the keeper. Matondo on the other hand made it fairly plain he is unable to take his opportunities at Rangers and should be sold as soon as we can reasonably cut our losses. If he has any talent then he seems determined to hide it.2 points

Missed the game tonight, just watched the highlights . We play like that on the 2nd and we'll get ripped apart.2 points

I think the last thing we need is an inexperienced coach who has been a player in the current squad.1 point

Each to his own and all that (and what do I know anyway) but I'm a bit stunned no one else has voted for Connor Goldson. I really thought he was the difference between winning and dropping more points last night.1 point

Probably means Steve has played his last game for Rangers, which is a hell of a sad way for a great Rangers man to bow out.1 point

He was always going to regress as he ages and I think it was a mistake to give such a high paid player a long term deal. He has no real transfer value at his age. I get he is a good servant to the club etc but the decline was inevitable, even if I didn’t expect it to happen so soon. You are correct his form this season has been non existent for whatever reason.1 point

Didn't say there is room for sentiment just some players who are genuinely injured (or ill) getting criticised for "not playing" or when they do play "under performing". Beale said he is sticking with players he knows and trusts until he can get the majority of the squad back and has also said he has identified a couple of positions that need strengthened. Fans expecting a huge turnaround in players in January are going to be as disappointed as I was the year I asked for but didn't receive a Chopper for my Christmas (and there were genuine reasons why my folks didn't/couldn't get me a Chopper).1 point

The past doesn’t matter. All that matters is what’s possible moving forward. No room for sentiment in football. We have a bloated squad because we have so many who can’t play 2 games a week. I think our manager recognises this. Our manager will have a list in his head with just about every player 19-24 who played u-19 for EPL clubs when he was at Liverpool and Chelsea and I hope he taps into it. We need some young hungry players.1 point

I started well before Jock Wallace appeared on the scene and the away support was always more .... keen.1 point

Nah, maybe it's because I started going during the John Greig / Jock Wallace 2nd stint wilderness years, it was mostly same fans home and away (as there weren't many of us if truth be told). Ibox is a like a library and without UBs it would completely silent other than moans, shouting abuse at our own players and booing if we are not 3 up after 20 minutes. Watching Rangers at Ibrox isn't a pleasurable experience most games and not just down to the performances on the pitch.1 point

But most of these "sick notes" have played twice a week for the last 2 seasons. Maybe worth listening to the manager. He has inherited a squad lacking in confidence with dropping fitness levels and a horrendous injury list. Slowly but surely players are returning from injury and we should have Borna, Colak and Roofe available for Motherwell. 3 great options including our top goal-scorer and Roofe who is best finisher at the club. We are also witnessing players willing to play through injury for this manager when previously they may have decided not to play (Tav, Alfie, JL as examples). Regarding players playing with injuries its a "no win" situation. Some fans want players "dropped" or rested of they are injured (or ill) others want players to play through the pain. The sickness bug that has gone through the squad is unavoidable but has knocked a few players for six but hopefully run its course. It appears from what I'm hearing one of the main reasons the board wanted Beale was due to how fit we were when he was here previously. Getting the squad back to full fitness and brimming with confidence will take more than 3 weeks and 3 games (excluding the friendly). There is nothing we can do other than support Beale and support the players - as an example, booing at 1-2 at halftime against Hibs wasn't supporting Beale and the players. However, song book aside, it appears we have a different breed of fan away from Ibrox who support the team from 1st minute to the 97th minute (if that's what's required).1 point

He's just one more of our squad being played out of position. What I'd like to see is Devine played at RB and then assessment of his performance might have some meaning. It might also improve our defensive capabilities because Tav gets more of a liability with every game - if it wasn't for his role taking every corner, free kick and throw in, it would be hard to say what he did in the last 3 games.1 point

https://www.glasgowlive.co.uk/news/police-investigating-reckless-behaviour-celtic-25827742 "Detectives investigating incidents of culpable and reckless conduct at Celtic Park in May have released images of three men they want to speak to in connection." Keep winning, get players back and the confidence will return. I still think we need to move players on and replace them with better too.1 point

Sure is mate and IMO Matundo's was by far the easiest and he fluffed his lines. He is also not my whipping boy as i back every player wearing a Rangers jersey. Still doesn't excuse them from critisim1 point
-
All about opinions. I think a fully switched on Alfie would have adjusted and diverted the ball home. Sakala doesn't have an excuse- 5 yards out, a brilliant delivery and he managed to place the ball in the only position where he couldn't score. Agree 100% on Matondo's lack of confidence. Not having a go at Alfie or Fashion as players miss chances, it's part of the game. The positive is that we are creating chances and players are in the positions to "miss" them.1 point

Therein lies the problem as some fans think we should just turn up, play like 1970s Brazil and thump everyone we play 6 or 7 nil no matter who we are up against. It's mental and we've all watched football long enough to know that very rarely happens. Even with a fully fit team, at peak fitness and confident, there's games where you'll "struggle". I think if someone had offered us 9 points from the 3 games we'd all have taken it. We move onto Motherwell and hopefully have more players back and more options. As fans, we need to get behind the manager and players and help this transition as it's obvious from Belaes comments, the squad is ravaged, lacking fitness and confidence.1 point

Only thing to say about Sakala/Morelos misses is that Sakala had time to react and shoot but Morelos's chance came right at him after a save by Laidlaw and the speed of the ball gave Alfie no time to react. As for Matondo my nightmares continue!!!!!1 point
