At last, our guarding of old Delhi's walls has been recognised. We should celebrate on Thursday against Hibs by singing, 'On the Green Grassy slopes of the Ganges'.5 points

I don't understand why we feel the need to highlight the importance of a certain group of games. We have to win every game.5 points

I think their roots took hold long before the current regime gained control. They then failed to adequately convey to the fans just how far the Club had fallen in EVERY single department, a failure to communicate at the basic level. There are things we may not like to hear but we should hear (imho). In some respects their errors compounded already problematic areas (i.e. retail) but I don't think they're claiming infallibility. As much as Bisgove gets it tight from the fans he's the calibre of people we need to recruit, if only everyone fulfilled their remit as well as he does. Given how much the Board and the other backers have invested I expect them to get it right after it is their OWN money they're playing with. Whilst they did indeed listen to me regarding the disabled situation they're not going to be knocking on my door for advice on how to run the Club. 😂4 points

As always, every match is huge but with the recent mid-season break and new manager appointment, the three matches now take on even more importance. I'm confident we can beat Hibs, who aren't very good and their best player is missing. Pittodrie is never an easy trip, so I'm not sure about that one. Dingwall on the 23rd is one we have to win. I maintain the 3-3 draw up there last season was where our campaign started to look doomed and we really need to be beating teams like Ross County if we want to challenge for the title. The next seven days will be good from a purely football viewing perspective due to the WC semis and final but let's hope Rangers can also provide us with some enjoyable performances.3 points

I would imagine that Technical Director and Managing Director would be completely different roles. Technical Director, to me, would be like what Ross Wilson currently does, which should be completely focused on the footballing arm of the club. Managing Director is a role that encompasses the whole business entity. Managing Director is a Company wide role, whilst Technical Director would, I suspect, be a departmental (football) role.3 points

Depends how much money you have 🤣3 points

That's quite a tangent you've gone off on there. Weir's job at Brighton is more akin to Ross Wilson's at Rangers miles way from Robertson's brief t Ibrox.3 points

Difficult to say for sure formation wise because every one of the forward players was roaming. A lot different from the structured inflexibility of Gio.2 points

On my scout through the on line papers I see Morelos is supposed to be after £45,000 a week even Dolly our cat was laughing.2 points

Is there some advantage of pointless repetition that I’m uniquely unable to tune into? Because I got it weeks ago …. communication isn’t as good as the club could make it. Now please, either come up with a practical solution that the club agrees to or change the record.1 point

I'm communicating the futility of your request. Rather than adapt to reality you just keep sobbing. Funny, is it not?1 point

Anyone mentioned Billy Gilmour yet?1 point

Aye, but we are the club who aren't inclusive apparently 🙄1 point

I've watched a few of the TIFO WCup podcasts with the Scottish guy (JJ?) explaining how he saw teams setup and why or why it didn't work against opposition X. I found that quite interesting.1 point

If we can't make up our minds about the formation, maybe it will confuse the opposition. At least for the couple of weeks this thread refers to.1 point

To be honest, I'm not sure yet. On paper it looked like a 4-2-3-1, but when we kicked-off it looked like a 4-4-2 diamond, with Kent as a #10. Then at other times it was a flat 4-3-3. The common theme was a narrow front three. We don't need wingers per se if we're going to use inside forwards.1 point

Newcastle will allow 29-year-old English centre-back Jamaal Lascelles, Northern Ireland left-back Jamal Lewis, 24, and Scottish wingers Matt Ritchie, 33, and Ryan Fraser, 28, to leave in January.1 point

Listening to the Gerset podcast and I hear the line about the January transfer window being difficult to do business in. I think there is truth to that in some ways where teams are half way through a season and competing for prizes. They wont want to sell key players. However in some cases, like the lad Josh Onomah we have been linked with at Fulham he is exactly the profile of a player who would be an ideal January signing. If we are smart enough the players are there and available. There are lots of similar cases of players who are now out of favour due to change in manager or circumstances who we could be targeting.1 point

Can't blame folk for that. Starting on Thursday, the team need to give the support a good reason to look forward.1 point

Problem was that Bain was called this and that by our support. The other side of the city just laughed at him.1 point

I think we need to try and look forward now. What's in the past is done and we can't change it. We have a talented new manager and hopefully an injury list easing somewhat as well. As such, there's plenty to look forward to in the coming weeks as the league resumes. In many ways, I think January will be a more important month for Beale with the Old Firm match and two cup games to traverse - not to mention the transfer window opening. As such I believe these games will be the initial barometer of his influence on the current group.1 point

Sixty years ago on this day ‘Spurs beat Rangers 2-3 in the second leg of the second round of the Cup Winners Cup to make the aggregate score 4-8. The result was a disappointment but it was a good match. The Rangers team was a permutation of the great early sixties elevens. This one had Henderson for Scott and Davis for Greig. ‘Spurs had Blanchflower and McKay and Greaves and White and a couple of Welsh Wing Wizards but I don’t think they were necessarily better players than Rangers players. They were a better team by which I mean they were better coached by Bill Nicholson than Rangers were by Scot Symon. I think Symon’s method was to assemble the talent and let them get on with it. Not entirely unsuccessful. ’Spurs went on to win the cup.1 point

I've been very critical of Morelos lately but he looked a lot sharper the other day and was more effective than Colak in the 4-2-3-1 we used - he did well in deeper and wider areas especially. Overall, although it was a friendly, there was lots to be positive about. If we can get a few more defenders fit asap then we should be better placed than before the break.1 point
-
Aye, but the problem is that our structure / executives (remit/competence) doesn't cover some important areas. If the board as a whole can't see this or act on it, then that is the problem.1 point

We do have a couple of things in our favour as the year comes to an end. Firstly, we have 2 days more to prepare for Pittodrie than the home team (who will hopefully be coming down after beating Celtic). Second, if we can get some positive momentum, then there is no break in January to halt it.1 point

Pretty sure I recall Martin Bain being described in those very terms numerous times1 point

That lot always seem to have a dark arts thing going on at the top level, whereas we definitely don't. As much as I don't like it, sometimes you just have to stoop low to deal with the worst. Being an absolute bastard is fine if it beats pure evil.1 point

Morelos doesn't look in a fit enough state to start a match yet. Colak will start and Morelos will probably get minutes as a sub.1 point

On his game, Alfie is unplayable. If he had not been injured last season, we may have won the EL. He is our all-time top scorer in Europe. However, he can implode, he can look disinterested and he can look unfit. I'm 50/50 on Alfie - if Beale and his team to get Alfie back fit (and interested) he's an asset and it will be difficult to replace him.1 point
