On this subject, an important difference is if they are good, bad or indifferent at what they do. Whatever the job title is. The elephant in the room in this discussion is the former CEO on the other side of the city and the general impression that although a C**T, he was an effective politician in the various corridors of power that football would come into contact with. That on most issues, he had his club coming out on top regards Glasgow/Scotland......You could add professional PR to the above. A vital cog these days to help get the right message out. In a way that doesn't come back to bite you on the arse. Basically, some think we have been lacking that type of influence and have given them a clear run at the politics of fitbaw, etc. We have also lacked professional and competent PR (always have, even when Sir Duped hired Mediahouse, it was more to protect himself rather than the club). My impression is that the remit of Stewart Robertson (MD) and that of the former CEO of Celtic, Peter Lawwell, have important differences. Those impressions can be formed simply because X is more visual and loud. However in the above case, Lawwell definitely had a track record of favourable outcomes. More recently, we have been attempting to chip away at some of the legacy of Lawwell. The obvious one being the SPFL executive. So, who is in charge of how we go about that ? Douglas Park (given involvement of his business?). Robertson represents the club on the SPFL board in alternate years. We almost had them bang to rights at the early calling of 20/21 but IMO, our communications were poor and lacked professionalism. We also suffer from a lack of empathy from too many other Scottish football clubs. Bottomline I don't know the remit of Stewart Robertson. I don't know exactly who decides on structure of business, executive recruitment (at Rangers) and strategic decision-making. (I get the board are generally responsible) I do know we have went a long time politically second best in Glasgow.3 points

Sixty years ago on this day ‘Spurs beat Rangers 2-3 in the second leg of the second round of the Cup Winners Cup to make the aggregate score 4-8. The result was a disappointment but it was a good match. The Rangers team was a permutation of the great early sixties elevens. This one had Henderson for Scott and Davis for Greig. ‘Spurs had Blanchflower and McKay and Greaves and White and a couple of Welsh Wing Wizards but I don’t think they were necessarily better players than Rangers players. They were a better team by which I mean they were better coached by Bill Nicholson than Rangers were by Scot Symon. I think Symon’s method was to assemble the talent and let them get on with it. Not entirely unsuccessful. ’Spurs went on to win the cup.2 points

Absolutely agree, but I think fans of clubs will always have a romanticised view of what it would be like to play for your favourite club, so apart from the odd exception, its another reason we should be keeping the squad fresh to avoid things stagnating.2 points

1. Attendance given as 26192, did not look like that from GF. Over half capacity? 2. Good game but going back a few months we gubbed West Ham and thought everything was rosy.2 points

Allez Les Bleus !! Griezsmann is an underrated player. Does a lot of simple things very well and always takes the right option. Can do pretty much anything you ask of him from middle to front. He was their most important player when they won it 4 years ago and still is. The Moroccan defensive midfielder, Amrabat, ..... is having a wonderful tournament..... ,,,,,and Bellingham is an absolute diamond of a player.2 points

I never like to read too deeply into friendlies but there were one or two good signs today. In the first half Jack looked back to his old self & Kent livelier than we’ve seen him for a while. Our game looked a higher tempo than we’d been seeing lately too. But I thought Tillman & Sands both excelled once again. Would be good to get these two as permanent signings as we should be able to make good money on them if we sell them on. However the cost of getting them may be beyond our budget2 points

Vast majority I would have thought. Possibly all eleven. I doubt we'll risk returning central defenders and Devine looks ready.1 point

I’m sure there are quite a few that signed up on the card scheme to all games, but didn’t go for a number of reasons. I’m one of them so I’ll be counted in that “attendance” even though I didn’t go. Yes definitely worth remembering that scorelines in friendlies mean absolutely nothing, it’s just about match sharpness. Not sure we can take even that out of the game yesterday as our opponent clearly had no interest in making it a game, so it’s hard to get match sharpness when only one team is trying to be sharp.1 point

The Cup final finished Rangers 2 Hibs 0. Wonder strikes from Lizzie Arnot and Kirsty Howat in either half secured the trophy for Rangers Ladies. Well done to the Broomloan Collective, a hundred or so young Bears kept the drums going and sang Rangers songs, brought a bit of atmosphere to a cold Tynecastle.1 point

Today, Rangers Ladies are playing at Tynecastle in the League Cup final against Hibs. The game is currently being shown live on Sky Sports. Rangers are leading 1-0, courtesy of a Lizzy Arnot 25 yard screamer.1 point

Let's put it this way: for most of the game we played how we play best in Europe: straight in their faces, press hard and keep them as far away from our area as we could. Especially the Germans don't like that sort of style. As soon as we let others start playing though ... Leverkusen is 12th in the league, hardly kicked a ball in earnest since the WC started, BL only begins in 6 weeks or so. "Their" Alex Lowry, i.e. Florian Wirtz made his much awaited come-back after a cruciate-knee-ligament rupture back in March and is going to be one of Germany's next top stars. Much like Alex will be for us, of course. As for our display, Sands and Tillman with top marks, Devine did surprisingly well at left-back. The old hands all did as expected, there is still too much indecision in some players when it comes to shooting, there were at least three or four instances, where those on the ball should just have let fly, yet passed to someone else. Alfie still needs to find his touch, you would hope that we play him alongside Colak every now and then.1 point

Look - we won titles because guys like Barry Ferguson played through cracked ribs and all sorts of injuries. The likes of Prso, Ronald de Boer and Marvin Andrews played through chronic injuries. Daniel Sturrage wouldn’t play with a staved finger. Michael Owen famously downed tools at Newcastle when they faced relegation because felt a twinge in his hamstring and his contract was up a few months later. Injuries and pain is subjective is all I’m saying. Some want to win at all costs where others don’t.1 point

No, it can't. Squad management (putting together a group of players for the season ahead) is different to managing the existing group of players. At least, that is what I mean when I use the term. Yes, of course a new manager can have an instant impact and I'd expect us to get that bounce. Just as the same or similar group of players responded to Gio. The question now is, how long does it last? The January window tends to be used with the following season in mind. At least it was when Beale was at the club, under Gerrard (ie. squad mgmt opposed to instant impact). This upcoming window may look a little different as we need an instant impact but I think a squad rebuild/transition/overhaul will be done over the next two windows, with the emphasis being in the summer. Especially the Bosman market, some of whom may be available in January for a reduced fee.1 point

Things can change quickly in football. Bad squad management can turn into good squad management if results and performances improve, as well as less of a queue for the treatment room. It's very much a let's wait and see situation. Unfortunately, I think the 9 point gap is too much. There's no way the scum will drop that many points.1 point

I find that with a lot of our players, and I say it often. They're not good enough to do everything well. They need to simplify their game, just focusing on the things they are good at. Kamara is a case in point: allow him to play as a supportive player, winning the ball back and playing simple passes to those more creative, and he's a good asset.1 point

Beale is worth listening to. He is forthright and seems to say how it is rather than bland managerspeak. We'll see if that changes somewhat when the competitive games start but you tend to think not. He will have to be careful with the mines that the media will lay, sooner or later.1 point

Quite a split set of results. Rousseau, Gonzo, Mal, SBG, Yorkie, Stewarty, dB, Dado, Devil, BEARGER and Lenny got the Correct Result. Rousseau, Stewarty, Mal and Devil got the Correct Score. Lenny got an extra point for applying his JOKER. Gonzo retakes the lead going into the semi-finals! Latest Standings:1 point

Spot on Cammy. Tbh if Morelos goes, we should be fairly happy we got the goals we got from him over the time he was here for the small sum we paid for him. Aye, it would've been great to get a big fee for him, but shit happens, we can't always do a Bassey. Mibbe we should get compo, Gersnets very own Jim mclean, in as director of football....1 point

You have to have buyers for players and those buyers need to offer a market value fee. You can't sell them to Melchester Rovers for monopoly money. Imagine the uproar if he sold Kent nd Alfie for say £5M each after 55. Goldson ran his contract down then resigned and Alfie and Kent may do the same, maybe they'll leave on a free transfer. Players have the power, they don't need to accept a transfer and they don't need to sign an extension. What do you suggest we do? Keep them locked in The Louden listing to Marshals patter until they sign?1 point

Nope. Not having that. It looks like Welsh Guards uniform and Garter sash. Should be Scots Guards and Order of the Thistle. The Thistle sash is green but it’s a respectable dark green, no emerald nonsense. If there’s no picture of HM in a Scots Guards coat, Admiral of the Fleet would be even better. I hope this in addition to and not in place of Her Late Majesty.1 point

On his game, Alfie is unplayable. If he had not been injured last season, we may have won the EL. He is our all-time top scorer in Europe. However, he can implode, he can look disinterested and he can look unfit. I'm 50/50 on Alfie - if Beale and his team to get Alfie back fit (and interested) he's an asset and it will be difficult to replace him.1 point

Important not to read anything into friendlies but I think we’ll win the league by at least 10 points.1 point

Someone made a good point about him in a previous discussion. It was that the criticism he gets often appears to assume that he is a chief executive rather than a managing director. Do we really need a more forceful managing director?1 point

It would be unhealthy if the control of communication was to stifle a professional, ethical "partner" of the club. C1872 gave proven themselves to be neither. Indeed, they have doubled down by becoming King's stooge. They are at the stage where they are essentially being openly hostile to the club - but you think the club should allow them to publish any 3rd party information they get ? You don't think that C1872 would take a chance to rid the club of Park on King's behalf ? Even if it means reputational damage to the club (and be mindful that they knew the Castore request would be harmful to the clubs reputation when they did that, and they cared not). C1872 are, frankly, unprofessional, unethical in their dealings and certainly not to be trusted. I would be more disappointed in the club if they didn't tie them to a 3rd party NDA. Of course they were never going to get the information from Castore - which merely proves how stupid it was to ask in the first place. Who would trust people operating like that ? Unfortunately, it IS C1872 vs the Board - which C1872 have made abundantly clear in their communications this year, add the fact they are in King's back pocket and it becomes ever clearer. The club SHOULD be looking to control communication - tell me what company wants communications to come from unofficial sources rather than official ? We can complain about lack of communication, as we should - but C1872 is not the answer to improve that - they can't be trusted, they have proven that time after time. Being transparent with ALL fans absolutely - but that certainly isnt C1872. Being transparent, more communication etc is all perfectly acceptable to desire - but why shouldnt that come directly from the club ?1 point

Borna is a specialist in nervous, hesitant play. Otherwise, with a little self-belief, he might have been a really good player.1 point
