  1. Is it just me or was Klinsmann sitting thinking, 'shut this idiot up' when Alex Scott started speaking at half-time? 😀

  2. The way my old eyes see it the league can only be lost by the hooped horrors so that leaves us a Scottish cup to defend if the draws work out we should make the final ,so I would offload all the dross get as much as possible for them and give the youth their chance I would play at least three lads in every game . mon the gers

  3. I'm talking about the main players here, Bill. You're an irrelevant also-ran. A wee dot in the background. Insignificant. Nothing.

  4. I don't doubt for a minute that there's lots of things about our game which just grinds players down over the space of a few years. Those pitches... playing the same teams 4-6 times a season... the constant negative tactics from some teams... etc.

  5. Or...play in a league with Messi and Mbappe, visit Monaco and Paris, with minimal pressure to win versus people going mad at you for not hammering teams that play on synthetic surfaces and cold nights in Dingwall. Players will go where they're offered most money.

  6. King and Lowry were / are the next two players who could be sold for decent fees. King had a few English teams sniffing around when he extended his contract. Given our injury crisis, he was thrown into the team and its fair to say he's struggled. King may recover from his shaky start, but if / when Davies and Goldson return, King will drop out. Lowry was about to break through but picked up a bad injury. If rumours are to be believed, he returned to the B Team with a "questionable" attitude and lasted only 45mins of the first couple of games he played. Looks like he has knuckled down and is back training with 1st team after a couple of good performances in Lowland League. McCann looks a prospect and featured under both SG and Gio. I like Mc ausland but don't know of he has what it takes. I hope he does because on his game, he looks an excellent football player. Lovelace could have something to offer and Ure can score goals at Lowland League level but that doesn't guarantee success at 1st team level (see Tony Weston as an example). Pinning hopes on youth carries as much risk as shoping in the bargain basement, getting one or both working well will be down to luck as much as having the right people in place (which can only help though).

  7. It's always mostly about on the pitch. To torture an analogy, and reversing Boycott's principle of adding 2 wickets to a batting team's score to get a true idea of how good it looks...I reckon if you take two wickets off the board's run tally, it wouldn't look too bad.

  8. Isn't football a brilliant game. Hollands saviour a player ridiculed for his goalscoring record at Burnley.

  13. The Dutch are woeful. Possibly the most frustrating watch of the tournament. Hope to God they go out tonight, it’s like watching Gio’s Rangers.

  14. John Bennet brought the subject up in the interview to RTV. David Graham was then moved on. Various things went Pete Tong and they clammed up. Nothing was mentioned about it in the AGM. I don't know who has taken on the remit David Graham had.

  16. The stuff on Wilson also feels like its getting over-egged. Yes there are clearly squad management situations that need to be addressed but we also need to remember that we are working within a limited budget, players aren't compelled to simply comply with what we want of them, no matter what we think the appeal of playing for us is or should be. It was said in the Q&A that for Morelos and Kent particularly, that essentially we have done all we can to try and persuade them to sign a new deal. That being the case, if the players run down their contracts there isn't an awful lot we can do other than try and move them on. This has coincided with injuries and down turn in form at key moments. Like with injuries, circumstances have kicked us hard in the last year or so, and Wilson has to accept some criticism, particularly where we have taken some gambles that haven't paid off, I just find the vitriol a bit silly. Unfortunately, with our resource constraints, we are always taking some form of calculated gamble.

  17. I actually think Bennett would be better in the role than Robertson. I thought his interview a few months back came over as condescending but at least he attempted to engage whilst Park and Robertson shied away. Said earlier, Davie Weir is building a great reputation for himself as Technical Director at Brighton. Probably out of our reach, but would be a good alternative to Park and / or Robertson. The board rightly get great credit (and I include King) for getting the club back, and for their continued investment. No denying that and I'm forever grateful for that. However, that should not deflect from their obvious shortcomings and that there are better options out there to run the operations for them.

  19. I often wonder what Graham Wallace would have been like in Robertson’s role today. Both he & Nash resigned in October 2014 after falling out with easdale after he sought funding from Ashley instead of King. Months later King & T3B got control and the rest is history. Robertson has always seemed a bit out of his depth to me. Wallace came from Man City IIRC. Perhaps he’d have had a different approach from Robertson at times these past few years but we’ll never know….

  22. I know what Cammy means. Robertson comes across as a bit of a pushover. I'd prefer a more forceful man in his position.

  23. It would be unhealthy if the control of communication was to stifle a professional, ethical "partner" of the club. C1872 gave proven themselves to be neither. Indeed, they have doubled down by becoming King's stooge. They are at the stage where they are essentially being openly hostile to the club - but you think the club should allow them to publish any 3rd party information they get ? You don't think that C1872 would take a chance to rid the club of Park on King's behalf ? Even if it means reputational damage to the club (and be mindful that they knew the Castore request would be harmful to the clubs reputation when they did that, and they cared not). C1872 are, frankly, unprofessional, unethical in their dealings and certainly not to be trusted. I would be more disappointed in the club if they didn't tie them to a 3rd party NDA. Of course they were never going to get the information from Castore - which merely proves how stupid it was to ask in the first place. Who would trust people operating like that ? Unfortunately, it IS C1872 vs the Board - which C1872 have made abundantly clear in their communications this year, add the fact they are in King's back pocket and it becomes ever clearer. The club SHOULD be looking to control communication - tell me what company wants communications to come from unofficial sources rather than official ? We can complain about lack of communication, as we should - but C1872 is not the answer to improve that - they can't be trusted, they have proven that time after time. Being transparent with ALL fans absolutely - but that certainly isnt C1872. Being transparent, more communication etc is all perfectly acceptable to desire - but why shouldnt that come directly from the club ?

  24. They can, you are right. But to then cry wolf because the club want to hold them to an NDA is disingenuous. They circumvented the club when they shouldnt have. They effectively embarrassed the club and informed the club that they were mavericks. The fact they did it is embarrassing enough. If they thought they were going to receive a reply which provided commercially sensitive information is just incredible naivety (at best) and stupidity at worst. It all shows just why the Club is indeed right to not trust C1872 The Club have an obligation to protect the club and its reputation. That story came out about C1872 directly asking questions of Castore - and it WAS an embarrassment to the club (and C1872 by the way). All of which points to the club doing exactly the right thing. The only people to blame for the club enforcing a 3rd party NDA is C1872. They brought it on themselves by circumventing the club in the first place when they shouldnt have.

  25. Which essentially means the Club allow C1872 to carte blanche inform their members of whatever they wish - the previous Castore incident is proof positive that C1872 can't be trusted to be professional enough to know when they may be harming the club. All the more reason to enforce an NDA with them. What they did was essentially unprofessional, unethical, and something that shouldnt happen - they basically didnt get an answer from the club and tried to circumvent the club. No wonder there is a lack of trust when that happens.

  28. I guess we should be looking at the initial sum we paid for the player and what they've delivered for the club during that time, so 6-10M would be a great return on investment.

  29. £6m is a tad low; but I'd probably take it. We keep holding out for the perfect sum, which rarely comes.

  31. I've gone through my speadsheet and I get 39 (26 CR). I then went back to all the thread posts to check my spreadsheet scores aligned with your posts. They are the same. The only thing I noticed was I didn't have your JOKER marked for the round of 16, but you got the wrong result so you wouldn't have got anything anyway.

  32. If Beale is serious about creating his new attacking "identity" and a team that "doesn't take a backward step" then the likes of Kamara, Kent, Morelos, Davis, McGregor, Tavernier, Matondo, Barisic, Souttar, Ofoborh, Roofe, McLaughlin and Helander will need to transform their contribution or be shipped out very soon. That's a hell of a lot of first team players who simply haven't been delivering as they should and an indication of the size of the task for Beale.
