I'd rather Beale brought in the best man for the job than worry about where he gets them from. He's obviously worked with Ade previously. Also, there's nothing to indicate he's a Scouser (not that it would matter if he was).8 points

I wouldn't want to sit near the UB, but that's because I'm a moaning faced intolerant old arse hole. Not so old as I cannot remember what it was like to be young, enthusiastic and driven though. The UB do a fantastic job with their TIFOs and marches, they are the only source of atmosphere in our stadium. They are organised and structured, do a fantastic job of funding their projects and deserve wider backing imo.4 points

A long piece in The Athletic for those with access: Michael Beale is a master coach and wily tactician, it’s time to see if he can run the show Jordan Campbell For the staff Michael Beale had inherited at Queens Park Rangers, when he asked whether he could attend a recruitment meeting and say a few words there was a hint of nervousness. It was his first managerial job and they weren’t sure what to expect, but the scouts need not have worried. They sat back as Beale delivered a one-hour presentation that quickly allayed any fears. He had put together an extensive document especially for them and ran through every detail himself. It explained exactly what he was looking for in each position, the age blend he was trying to create in the squad and even included training ground drills showing how he works on the shape of the team and how that feeds into the attributes he requires. It was said to have blown away the scouts in attendance as they had never experienced such a detailed brief before. The clarity in his communication skills was the other thing that impressed — when he addressed them individually he had a way about him which made them feel as if it was a one-on-one conversation. I think we will see far far better player availability under Beale.3 points

Stevie from 4lads mentioned something interesting on the Rangers Review stream this morning. He said most of the players signed in the summer were on the clubs shortlist when Beale was here previously. He specifically mentioned Yilmaz. Wilson said previously we had been tracking Matondo for a few years too.3 points

We withdrew from this two bob tournament and it lost money. Clearly the yahoos & Merseyside’s second team couldn’t generate enough money between them to make the tournament financially viable once we withdrew. You only had to look at the number of empty seats at games 😂 Take note Mr Bisgrove. And Mr Robertson. Lessons learned I hope. Our participation in this sort of tournament demands top dollar. Much more, it seems, than you’d allowed for. And we’re never to be used ever again as a cash cow when the yahoos are involved3 points

We've done this before, but once again, it's about force, which is a result of mass x acceleration. Yes, the old ball was heavier, but because of this, the velocity of the ball was much less (look at old pathe reels, wee looping crosses). Because its a lighter ball, then it can be fired in at a much higher speed, resulting in an equally high force. And factor in the players are physically far more advanced than ye olden days, and you'll realise the force is higher. I2 points

I think we need better lawyers at the pre contract stage.2 points

It's supreme shithousery in one sense, but I love the passion of the Uruguayans!2 points

I think Mr Beale has came (back)to Rangers with his eyes wide open. At least give him an ounce of credit/credibility.2 points

If we get roofe back and firing we will be a far far better team. Absolutely cracking player.2 points

I could almost live with the stupidity behind this and the mistakes made. What I deeply resent and cannot accept is the lack of apology for getting us into this mess and the total lack of personal accountability from those running the club.2 points

A fit Kemar Roofe is the best finisher at the club by a distance. He was also top scorer (league) when we won 55.2 points

trouble with that idea is they did buy tickets in droves and then go refunds.2 points

Seriously, we have been in court so often this last decade; I suspect the defensive side of the court is known as the Rangers end?2 points

Anyone heading through to Bo'ness tomorrow for the B game? Let me know if you need any advice on parking, pubs etc.1 point

Some fans talk about Michael Beale like he’s some kind of idiot who’s never seen a football before and who can only function with their advice. I think we can give him a lot more credit than that. He may or may not be successful but I believe he knows how to do his job.1 point

MB has been appointed so, for me, it's very much a case of wait and see. Hopefully no one gets games based on what they did a year or two ago and hopefully no one gets dismissed out of hand. Clean slate time for the squad.1 point

I wonder why Rangers TV don't stream these matches? I'm certain a lot of Rangers fans would purchase them! we all know the club likes to make money!1 point

We should just have replied thanks but no thanks1 point

Aye, but what if it's just players like Ridvan and Matondo?1 point

I think it was an open secret that the tournament organisers were paying the yahoos more than we would’ve been getting. That alone should have made us walk away from this tournament. Did we not ask what the fees were each club was getting?1 point

A contract is a contract and if our lot have broken it then they shall get what's coming.1 point

I wonder if mr Beale has already started thinking what am I doing here, they want me to make honey out of cats shite1 point

If we sell Steve Davis for 40 million we will be able to buy some cracking players. Unlikely though.1 point

I expect the claim will be for loss of profit. I have no clue about the mechanics of the tournament but I wonder if every ticket above, say, 20,000 is profit. @onevisionabove makes a valid point about Rangers’ fans refusing to attend. Another compromise payout looms.1 point

It wont be a claim for expenses. It will be a claim for loss of earnings, they will argue that Rangers v Celtic would have sold out the stadium on that day. Not an unreasonable claim. But there will hopefully be more to it than that, hopefully they breached the contract by early publication of it etc1 point

Given our recent court history, I'm expecting us to end up paying some sort of fee for this.1 point

As far as I remember, we withdrew not long after the plans were made public, so the expenses up to that point would be rather minimal, unless they can prove that some TV deals (if any) et al were made specifically for a "possible" rather than factual Old Firm game. Could well have been that Sydney FC or that Western Sydney team had stopped them or us on the way to the final ... Be that as it may, the chap at Ibrox who thought this up and agreed to our participation is still running, I hope ...1 point

Call me old fashioned but a singing section should be in the Rangers end, the Copland Road stand*. I'd put them wherever they want, as long as they agree to ditch that ****ing drum. *AKA the library1 point

I wonder if they have a football club, where they wave Welsh flags and sing Welsh songs and generally get on the nerves of the indigenous population. Looks like Argentina might be a force at this WC after all. I still think France will win it.1 point
