Christ no, there's folk on here still shouting about Gullane 🤣9 points

Yes, like @ranger_syntax says, the review of the accounts by people who actually know what they're talking about seems to be very encouraging. Its also unfair to say the board hasn't backed Gio and Gerrard in the transfer market and that all Ross Wilson's signings have been terrible as its all a lot more nuanced than that. The board have clearly made some bad decisions (Australian tour anyone?) and seem way out of touch with the fans on some important issues (disabled supporter access & provisions) so they do need to improve how they communicate and engage on those kind of things, but on the football & budget/accounts things, they can't come out and be as transparent as some fans want because that's not how businesses work. But we all know how it works. If we're winning, everyone is happy. Which is probably why following #55, there was very little criticism about the squad, because we thought it would all be fine, when in reality, some of our starting XI should have been moved-on then, with the rest following the season after, precisely so we didn't find ourselves in this position.5 points

I hope we got our legal affairs in order this time. If we have to pay anything, it comes out of Bisgrove & Robertsons bonuses. How they 2 kept their jobs over this I dont know, but if it ends up costing the club a large sum, then Robertson's job especially is completely untenable. Also funny to see how much they claim they lost due to us not taking part as they couldnt sell tickets without us. I thought it was all about Ange, and the magnificent worldwide reach and appeal of the bheasts, so the opponent wouldnt have mattered surely? All about the Rangers.5 points

Welcome back to Rangers, Michael Beale. Very excited to see what he can do as manager this time where he can implement his own ideas and utilise his own staff which offers a positive mix of contemporary ideas alongside experience. There's certainly plenty work to be done. In that sense, a few bonus weeks working with the squad should be a big help: improving fitness, increasing morale and deciding individual futures all short term priorities with a view to initial squad changes for January. Beale will certainly be a busy man through December. With matches v Hibs, Aberdeen and Celtic in his first five games then two tricky cup ties in January, Beale could not have asked for a more difficult first six weeks in the job. The league may be beyond us but fans will expect improvement. The cup games will offer an early barometer. Finally, many fans suggest this was a lazy appointment. I understand that but he was arguably the most obvious choice given the candidates available. Correct doesn't necessarily mean lazy. As always, there are no guarantees but Beale must hit the ground running. Good luck, Mick!4 points

Beale has been in the door for 5 minutes and buster is worrying about alignment with the board. It is not possible to take that seriously. I feel very positive about the finances. Not perfect but I think that we are in a better position than we have been for a very long time. Experts might correct me. Either way we will be in an even better position when we free up the wage donated to Morelos, Helander et al. As pointed out elsewhere the act of managing expectations has zero purpose when dealing with football supporters. We will be happy if we win and angry if we lose. The idea that this will change if only we had some 'communication' is a very silly fairy story. Finally he makes a bizarre plea for leadership. In my estimation leadership has little to do with acting on the endless stream of irrational complaints that will come from any support. Again it is impossible to take stuff like this seriously. Almost every time that an opportunity to take responsibility emerges, in the form of shares, you will hear little above the cacophony of excuses.3 points

We look afraid of a trip to the shops never mind Perth! Our away form in 2022 is pretty awful.3 points

Could understand it more if the balls were as heavy as the old bladders in our day; they had thick laces as well and were heavy enough just kicking never mind heading.3 points

The direction we have to take will be more down to finance, than to the new manager. If Michael Beale and the board are on the very same page regards direction of travel, then it has a better chance of working. Presuming that to be the case (very hypothetical), if the club can successfully communicate this to the support and have expectation levels at a realistic level (very optimistic), it might mitigate teething problems turning into something worse. There is an AGM in a weeks time, someone has to show some leadership.3 points

I think people can feel underwhelmed before a manager has been in the job for a certain time. I'm sure if there were Internet forums when Walter Smith took over from Graeme Souness, many Ramgers fans would have been "underwhelmed" by Walter's appointment. After the razzmatazz of the Souness arrival, replacing him with Smith was "underwhelming" but as history shows, was the correct decision. People are free to feel underwhelmed, excited, non-plused, over-the-moon at Beales appointment - however their feelings will have no impact on how successful (or otherwsie) Beale may be.3 points

Just watched and that was a bizarre q&a in my view. King queries where all the money has gone yet clearly has access to the annual report the same as the rest of us. he complains the board are going in a different direction by not investing in the way he would, yet seems to have completely forgotten that one of the things this board has done is pay back the loans from king. we heard a question from Craig Houston too, though no mention was made of his job with c1872, so presumably he was there in a personal capacity. His questions focused on the board and whether others still there might share some of his views. DK responded but Houston clearly holds contempt for the board, something he is entitled to of course, but how on earth that squares with his role at c1872 and presumably trying to work productively with the club? There were other things that occurred but I just had to get that off my chest immediately. My last remaining token contributions and therefore membership of c1872 is likely now to be cancelled.2 points

If the board didn't think there would be a backlash to Rangers participating in "Anges All Conquering Homecoming Tour" then they are more out of touch with the fanbase than I fear. There shouldn't have been a need for communication, we should have politely declined the invitation.2 points

Ifs, buts and maybes, but say had we beaten Celtic in February and gone on to win the league, I don't think it would have been us that pulled out of the Sydney Cup.2 points

We really must be spooked if we're afraid of a trip to Perth now.2 points

Beale's first month of competitive action now looks like; Hibs (H) Aberdeen (A) Ross County (A) Motherwell (H) Bheasts (H) Dundee Utd (A) Aberdeen (SF) Kilmarnock (A) St Johnstone (Cup A) Bloody hell that is a tough run of games for anyone never mind a young inexperienced manager. He will either be seen as the messiah or busted flush within a month. Welcome to Rangers! Also worth noticing that there is not one Saturday game in that run either, with games on a Thursday, Tuesday, Friday, Wednesday, Monday, Sunday, Sunday, Wednesday and TBA but prob Sunday. So every day of the week apart from football day!2 points

I think the majority of us agree the board could do better on that front. I also think the rising living costs might be a factor, for a lot of people, in the near future. There's no indication the board are going to be proactive though.2 points

Of course but the point is that could change very quickly. The last ten years has taken it out of many supporters and whilst our loyalty is not in question during that period if people feel they're being taken for granted (and many fans I do know are getting frustrated) then folk will drift off - more so if the team cannot catch Celtic. As such, I think the board could get ahead of the curve on that. That's naiive of me for sure but not unreasonable.2 points

Away draw? Are the masons off right now or something? poor show.2 points

From what I've read, it seems the first of that serious research is ongoing now, with more to follow. Time will tell what they find. It would be best if they found no attributable link but in all honesty, while it may be a long time coming, I think we all know where this is 'heading'.1 point

At some point, someone has to be accountable for this hoard of legal challenges the club have. Dont know the specifics but would hope any legal council advising/drawing up contracts/agreeing terms would be the mitigation for all this legal action. It doesn't seem like it though.1 point

But is there any indication that fans have evolved accordingly? 😉1 point

Agreed. That's the modern game. Managers are coaches now; they have to implement a style of play, instil tactics and strategy, improve players etc. Gone are the days where a manager just assembles a team, organises them ('four-four-f*cking-two!') and lets them go. Those types don't work now; the game is too complex.1 point

Very tricky and just six days after we face Aberdeen at Hampden in the League Cup semi-final. Will be an important week very early in Beale's reign.1 point

As long as the stadium is full, the board won't change their (lack of) communication.1 point

It should but I doubt it will and I assume that's what R_S was scoffing about. It goes into the realms of fans=customers and having no right of input into the business but I think football clubs are different in that respect (or could be). But that's more of an ideal than an expectation per se.1 point

People are just giving their opinions. I’ve been on Rangers forums for about 6 years and the optimists have always mocked those who are more measured and they’ve been completely wrong far more than they’ve been right. I’ll back the manager fully, but there’s nothing at all wrong with people discussing the appointment openly.1 point
