"I faced unique challenges and some very difficult circumstances to operate in"...... wonder what he means here? Anyway as I said in another thread the EL run last season, winning Scottish Cup and qualifying for CL group stages were the highlights of hospital year in charge. I'll never forget that night at Ibrox v Leipzig. Gio as a player won a treble, scored against Celtic and scored in the Champions League. I wish him well in his next challenge and he'll always be welcome back at Ibrox as far as I'm concerned.6 points

If "journalists" like Keown are saying Beale isn't the kind of man we need, I'm starting to think Beale just might be the kind of man we need.5 points

So I read the headline thinking he may have a point. But then i read the article and have no real idea what his point is. He then at the end of the article goes off on a tangent about Celtc selling Juranovic as he won’t sign a new deal and what great business that is. Not sure what that’s got to do with Beale. A great example of why the MSM is dying. I’ve read far better posts on here, never mind some of the blog posts from 4lads etc that blow Gary Keowns rubbish out of the water.4 points

The opportunity to manage an institution like Rangers FC is a privilege which very few are afforded. As a former player, I understood the responsibility and magnitude of the task. My backroom team and I worked with energy, passion and were driven with a belief that we could achieve amazing things. We treated our roles with respect, optimism and determination. We experienced some incredible highs, especially on our European journey to Seville. Winning the Scottish Cup for the first time in over a decade and qualifying for the group stage of the Champions League is something I am very proud of. The passion of our support drove us on to achieve those wonderful memories. For that, I am forever grateful to every single one of you who travelled near and far, spent your hard earned money, and never gave up supporting our team. This season, like every year at Rangers, the first priority is domestic success. I understand the hurt when wins become draws, and worse, when we experience defeat. That isn’t acceptable at a club of Rangers standing, no one understood that and felt that more than I did. I faced unique challenges and some very difficult circumstances to operate in. Rangers FC will always be in my heart and I wish the club all the success for the future. Once a Ranger, always a Ranger. 1h https://www.instagram.com/p/Cldk-RXDQQJ/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y%3D3 points

‘some very difficult circumstances to operate in’ unless this is addressed then his successor will meet with the same fate as GvB. I think it’s obvious what he’s referring to3 points
-
It's pointless to agonise over what, if anything, GvB meant by his comment about "unique challenges and some very difficult circumstances". 1. We have no way of knowing for sure what he is alluding to. 2. Even if we did, we can't know if it's true or not. 3. Even if it is true, it's too late now. 4. The future is far more important to Rangers than water under the bridge.3 points

We pumped Dortmund and Liepzig, and took Frankfurt to a penalty shoot-out. All three are CL teams. We should be competing. That doesn't mean win - our group was very tough, but the capitulations were embarrassing. GvB is at fault.2 points

Hope the potential manager is watching the Morocco V Belgium with a notepad. The benefits of a drilled in-swinging free kick was there for all to see. Let's throw the floaty out-swinging corners and free kicks in the dustbin where they bloody belong.2 points

not sure the injuries were solely his fault. Signing players with known injury records was madness. And I’m not sure our current first team squad was ever going to be good enough to compete in the CL group we were in2 points

Interesting that many favour Dyche who doesn’t seem to interest any EPL clubs over Beale who just KB’d Wolves, who seem to be a well run club tbh. Maybe coincidence or maybe they know something we don’t. The more I think about it the more it’s a fit for us. Don’t think we were ever going to get a Seaone or a Knutsen. Seaone will probably pop up at Lyon or a similar stature club in Italy/Spain in a few months. We need to target someone with an upside and I think if we looked at a managerial profile like Beales who didn’t have a connection to us there would probably be the same question marks over the appointment but also a bit of excitement over the potential. I just hope Ross Wilson can work wonders to refresh the squad for him. We need some hungry and fit bodies in while moving out the non contributors and high earners for decent fees while we still can.2 points

I’d like to think so to, as it's managers who take the fall, but I suspect otherwise.1 point

I'm not going to look for it, but he said it not too long ago, iirc. Mistaken, or not good enough? Both can be correct, I suppose. 90% of teams have a DoF model. There's clearly a benefit. Its a wonder they all get their manager positions filled... ? A coach worth their salt can do the job.1 point
-
You either move the goalposts or make up your own argument to argue against. I've always said I didn't expect us to beat Liverpool or Napoli. But I do expect us to put up a fight. That means not shipping 7 (SEVEN) goals! We're now just going around in circles.1 point

I don’t recall him saying he was happy with the squad but if he did he was badly mistaken. And if he was happy with our recruitment model(where Wilson takes all the decisions?) then it is no surprise to me that the appointment of our next manager/head coach seems to be taking forever. No manager worth his salt would allow a DoF like Wilson to pick and choose his playing staff1 point

The last two countries to occupy Holland, refereed by a Dutchman. He’ll have to decide sooner or later.1 point

Gio done what he could but some of his tactics and timing of subs were bewildering. What NO manager could legislate for was the horrendous list of injuries.Aside from the hapless Helander/Roofe/new signing Soutar the unfortunate ones to Goldson/Hagi and Lawrence did not help things.1 point

Just seems to me(from what you’re saying) if the DoF screws it up then the manager on a hiding to nothing if he’s got little or no input to recruitment1 point
-
So the DoF is in charge of recruitment but if the signings are duff it’s the manager’s fault? 😳1 point

Croatia's quality has certainly shown more as the half went on but I think they've done well. No more goals, please!1 point

They look like conceding every time Croatia cross the halfway line. However Canada still carrying a threat but can see them losing heavily.1 point

They are competing. (I want them to lose - I've got 2-1 to Croatia in the GPL...)1 point

If thats how we’re run then we might as well chuck it. Others (in addition to the manager) have their responsibilities too.1 point
-
Not quite. Fitness, hard work, knowing their roles, shape and a few very tidy footballers. Pretty much us in EL last season.1 point

I know but that doesn't allow me to make such an exaggerated, withering post. (They're competing, which is my point.)1 point

Very true, or he seen what was coming and jumped ship at a very good offer to go on his own. All pure guesswork of course, but it seems we don’t have long to wait till we find out, like it or not!1 point

I think it's very likely the entire squad will benefit from this change. It's been obvious the players had lost faith in Gio and no manager can succeed without the players on board. Hopefully the clouds will lift now.1 point

If so, tough. That's how we're run. It's much more important than the ego of a manager.1 point

'Unique challenges' i presume are a reference to the Champions league, and the 'very difficult circumstances' would be the alarming amount of injuries.1 point
-
Maybe a shareholder could ask what Gio meant in that at the AGM...... and you wonder at the timing, are those challenges and circumstances going to be any different for Beale or who ever takes over?1 point

Gio on Instagram posted a rather nice farewell but in it he said: I faced unique challenges and some very difficult circumstances to operate in. Shots fired 👀?1 point

I don't want ex-players to be coaches with us; that's ok as an assistant, etc. Our coach needs to be a very technical role - like Beale was with us.1 point

I’m more excited by the prospect of Michael Beale being our manager than I was when Gio was rumoured.1 point

Denmark should still go through and they're a team that could do well in the knockout rounds. More than anything else, Denmark continue to show what a country of 5 million people should be able to do on the world stage.1 point
