I've increasingly little interest in what King has to say. When your primary motivation is recouping money then your opinions don't often make for sympathetic reading. It's a real pity Club1872 have become his cheerleader instead of remaining neutral. Of course we should be critiquing the board where necessary but I'm unconvinced by King and he has no-one to blame but himself for that.12 points

If it’s Beale then so be it. There are absolutely no guarantees no matter who they appoint. I’m happy to support the board’s choice until there’s good reason not to.4 points

I would agree that his motives for his statements are as you state, but it is hard to argue with any of his comments. A case of shoot the messenger but listen to the message perhaps? Under Park's (short) chairmanship, the club seems to have fallen to pieces in several areas. That much seems clear and on that basis and that basis alone his leadership must be called into question.4 points

Thanks. For a moment there, I thought someone was going to come back with a nonsensical answer...3 points

The fact is that Beale has no track record whatsoever in management, a couple of good months and one very bad at QPR. I don’t think we should be appointing Rangers managers based on assistant manager experience, we should be beyond that now. Sigh.3 points

This is becoming a real worry. Why is he only having this assessment now?3 points

At this point I'd take a dream team of Gattuso and Ferguson. Can you imagine the press conferences/touchline bans/supporters getting chinned/players getting chinned etc. All infinitely more entertaining than some of the football we've been playing under Gio and we'd still finish second.3 points

We have approx 12 wages that will be freed up , we have just had C/L money, Basseys money, Ittens money , and a lot of the one off s from these last accounts won't be recurring, so surely there is money available to strengthen , we still have the basis of a good team , but it needs strengthened , as every one has said .3 points

Board would need to spend money - it can't be said we didnt spend money in the summer window, we just spent it either poorly or in areas we didnt need to.3 points

I suppose I should concede that I've no idea who should replace Gio. Removing him the right move but who replaces him obviously key - particularly with a view to revamping the squad substantially over the next three windows. Byword will be patience. Are fans prepared to wait? Problem with a fairly large overhaul is losing the interest of players who know they are going/want to go (see Morelos et al). Next issue is that of strategy - just how much do we spend and should Wilson direct that? All this demands leadership. AGM must offer clarity of thought. We can/should be critical of existing board but reality tell us they're not going anywhere. Nevertheless pressure is on them to work better with supporters (not just fan media) to help achieve success. They need to keep us onside during increasingly difficult times for everyone. Barring a huge surprise, the title has realistically already gone this season. C'est la vie. However, no reason we can't all work together to deliver an improved challenge next year. Let's not take supporters for granted and that will maximise time/patience for the new man.3 points

Well, fair enough. Maybe times change though, I think we could attract a manager who has a strong track record of success as a manager.2 points

Borrowed from elsewhere. Having worked in the St Enoch Store under Elite, this is my definitive understanding of what is going on. Disclaimer; this is my understanding mixed with my opinion and some logic. Happy to be corrected on any matter as I’m just passing on what I’ve gathered. Rangers entered into the deal with Elite, who are partnered with Hummel, and are Hummel’s exclusive UK supplier. The deal went against our (at the time)current deal with SD, as we didn’t give them a chance to match the deal before accepting Elite’s offer. Now I think the club were trying to be sneaky here, as from my understanding, they entered into 2 seperate deals. Deal one was a 3 year kit supply deal, in which Elite would provide kits manufactured by their partner Hummel. We also entered into a 5 year retail deal with Elite, in which Elite would run our retail operations, by way of shops and online. The sneaky aspect of this, was that Elite would be classed as a “Non exclusive Retail Partner”, which I think the club hoped would be a loop hole surrounding SD’s monopoly on the “exclusive retail partner”. Obviously SD challenged this and in 2018 an injunction was granted which, as Hummel/Elite are now claiming, prevented Rangers from fulfilling their end of the contract. However, it didn’t stop Elite, who, to begin with we’re happy to carry on with their fulfilments, based on assurances from Rangers that they would beat the SD injunction. Obviously I wasn’t privy to whatever Rangers’ obligations were, but I know there was a lot surrounding club premises, branding, advertising, etc etc Over the coming seasons Elite grew impatient as Rangers seemed to be not making any great waves in the SD case, but seemed happy to receive the benefits of the deal that Elite were fulfilling. (2 shops open, online shop up and running, kits supplied and money paid for season 1 and 2, not to mention a totally separate but in good faith naming sponsorship deal for the training ground). So come the beginning of season 3, Elite with hold the upfront payment in defiance of Rangers apparent lack of effort to perform any obligations of the contract. Rangers decide to take legal action, and that is the £2/3m that we are suing Elite for, as we claim them withholding money is a breach of contract. From what I was told, it was then Hummel who made the call to end the kit deal as they were angry at Rangers for taking legal action due to breach, when Elite/Hummel felt Rangers were in breach first. This is what then led to the new deal with Castore, who took on a new Kit Deal and new “Exclusive Retail Deal” (seemingly at the approval of SD). However, the 5 year “Non Exclusive Retail Deal” with Elite was never terminated. This is why the store in St Enoch remained open for so long. It was running legally under the “non exclusive” contract, along side the “Exclusive” Castore deal. (Which ultimately was Rangers goal to beat SD, have it run along side SD’s “Exclusive” deal which ofcourse the court injunction foiled). The store in St Enoch only closed when the majority of staff left and they knew they couldn’t hire anyone else to work in it, it wasn’t forced shut by Rangers or anything. So from that I gather that now Hummel/Elite are suing for loses relating to season 1 and 2, in which they feel they would have made more money had Rangers fulfilled their advertising and branding obligations as well as providing a stadium premises. (Which the SD injunction prevented). Season 3 break down of the contract, they blame rangers for the breach of contract leading to the contract break down. Season 4 and 5 they probably assumed they of gotten a renewed Kit deal due to the coinciding retail deal but even had Rangers not renewed and went with a new supplier, Elite would claim they could still have made money as a retail partner, even with a different kit manufacturer. So that’s where we are.. we are suing for lost kit sales in S3, blaming Hummel/Elite for the relationship break down due to breach, they are suing for lost sales in S1,S2, S3 and potential sales in S4 and S5, and blaming Rangers for the break down due to breach! I’ve heard rumours that Elite are going into admin, the Southampton and Millwall statements seem to support it. This being brought back to the forefront is perhaps a last throw of the dice to recoup some money before it goes tits up.2 points

If it is Beale, then by all means, I'll get behind him. Its a risk in many ways, the strange one for me, is that there is a compensation cost attached to Beale, when quite a few of the other supposed options would come with more experience and no compensation.. Not going to lie, feeling pretty flat about it, but, hopefully that will all evaporate on 15th December2 points

In a lot of ways Beale makes sense and you could argue he's shown under Gerrard that he's well aware of the importance of having a very fit squad and wants to play attacking football. I guess its like signing players... unless you can afford to shop at the absolute top-end of the market, its always a risk. Beale's low risk in terms of knowing the club, the pressures, the players, the league... but higher risk as he's unproven as a manager. Something like Dyche is lower risk in terms of his proven ability as a manager, but more of a risk in the other areas.2 points

If Beale is preferred choice of the board then why didn't they offer the job 12month ago when Gerard departed? Or did they?2 points
-
I was told yesterday by an ex employee of the club that Beale was being interviewed, was preferred candidate, and is desperate to get back up here. His family loved it here, to be honest it definitely seemed that way. Happy to reveal source, just not on here, as he's a good friend.2 points

I feel weirdly flat about it. There was a lot of shite football played under Gerrard but we did progress. But this feels like the easy choice, I guess like Gio was. It feels like a step backwards somehow, but if he gets the job then I hope for the best. No doubt he has coaching talent.2 points

Mental to think he turned down Wolves and potentially hundreds of millions worth of talent to work in the SPFL but i respect the hustle. Shows he wants it. Lets go.2 points

I still there's players we've signed who can come good if we play a system which suits them; if we have a system in the first place and also in a team which is more confident. But like @rbr says, we should also have a good chunk of wages coming free which will help out. Even if we don't use all of them, McGregor, Davis, Helander and Roofe should all go and we are probably going to lose Morelos and Kent too.2 points

File under she's turned the weans against us rubbish. Unless you want to tell us the full story of Gerrard being forced out.2 points

I reckon it is due to the fact he got the current squad into the Champions League but was not able to add quality. I think we all expected a couple of additions on the back of qualification. If he didn’t qualify for the CL we would probably have had a decent EL run (probably boosting our domestic form due to the lack of confidence shattering results) and he may never have got sacked.2 points

Not any more but given what he's achieved so far he would have been a far better choice than GvB.2 points

His team is current champions and comfortably top of the league. I could be convinced.2 points

I'm not sure you'd ever find a manager with the win percentages that we crave or expect, anywhere. And if he was in a half decent league, would we even get him?. I think any manager we appoint is always a gamble, as our situation isn't particularly common.1 point

In typical Rangers fashion, we are all quick to take one side and once we have chosen a side, the other side are automatically wrong. We have current board and fan media v King and Club1872 and fans are lining up behind either option and dismissing the other sides opinions. We are nothing if nothing if not predictable - the carcrash / soap-opra continues and, no signs of it stopping and it now looks like the fanbase is going to be even more fractured than before. The current board are horrific at simply things like communication, PR, fan engagement, ticketing, catering, disabled access, safe standing etc, and it doesn't take Dave King or Club1872 to highlight this, their deficiencies are staring us in the face on a day to day basis.1 point
