When people say Dave King has a point, what point is it he has? How quickly we forget just what a financial basket case of a club we were until very recently. A reminder our last published accounts showed our "pre-tax loss widened from £17.8m to £24.7m (£24.2m after tax), as revenue fell £11.3m (19%) from £59.0m to £47.7m, partly offset by increases in other income, up £1.4m to £3.4m, and profit on player sales, up £1.0m to £1.7m, while expenses were down £2.3m (3%)." Where the fuck do we think the Europa League money has gone? There's no way Dave King doesn't know that either. We were a club haemorrhaging money until very recently, this shouldn't come as news to any supporter to pays the slightest attention to the club. To say that the board aren't communicating on this is very strange, what exactly is it people expect them to say? We've been told many, many times that the only way the club can function is by either qualifying for the Champion's League or by selling players. This can't come as news to anyone. So, had everyone forgotten this? We didn't qualify for the Champion's League last season, even with the Europa League run it's debatable if we'd have gone into the black without the sales of Paterson and Aribo. Another thing I'm always curious about when this comes up is do supporters expect the directors who have covered these losses for several seasons to write that money off or do we think it's okay for them to get some or all of it back? I don't think our support are in the remotest way yet ready for the reality of what it takes to run a club like ours in the Scottish league system and not have a sugar daddy pick up the slack. This, this now is reality. Sell our most valuable players, search for bargains to replace them with. That's what we did in the summer, that's what we'll need to do every summer unless the SPFL sign a new, and very different, TV deal with someone.5 points

I'll take the popcorn option. All I will say is that we have turned an opportunity with the winning of 55 in our 150yr anniversary and our amazing European performances to continue to build momentum around such a feel good factor and instead shoot ourselves in the foot and reach for the self-destruct button. Nobody is forcing anybody to mourn the death of our Queen. Just paying respects to the head of our Country after a life given to service on your behalf. Not much to ask in return.3 points

You never know, he might have a medical or family situation to deal with but if it was up to me, I'd still be kicking their arses for their disgraceful performances at the Piggery and in Amsterdam.2 points

I think there was an inevitability about the decision to postpone the matches. Given our recent form, I think it might work in our favour.2 points

Nonsense if you ask me, whatever you think about the monarchy she was 96 years old. There should be celebrations for reaching that age, instead the country is grinding to a halt when there is already economic strife. Forcing people to mourne is not the way. Ready to take my stoning.2 points

I predicted a downturn in our European form when GVB came in because I feared he wouldn’t match Gerrard’s ability to set up properly against attacking teams. I was very much proved wrong when GVB showed a tactical flexibility that I didn’t quite expect to get us to the Europa League final. Again, this season he proved me wrong and overcame two genuine challenges to make the Champions League. And yet there is truth in the theory I had. Gerrard never once lost by more than 2 goals, and only lost by two goals 5 times. Gio hasn’t been here a year and has already overseen two Old Firm humiliations. The Ajax loss was different to those, but the system we set up in was so poor and it was not addressed when it was crystal clear that goals were imminent. Gio has been a bit of an enigma, but the one thing that has been consistent is that since an initial 7 game new-manager-bounce, we have been poor domestically and that’s why I think we need to see what our options are.2 points

Man having difficulty selling large block of shares opportunistically looks to use difficult moments for the club/board/football team to curry favour with fanbase by going public, filling the vacum left by a somewhat uncommunicative board. It has been the same for a while. Difference here is the general situation on various fronts for the club has complicated and DK goes on a wider ranging attack. DK was always fond of the word holistic. He should bear it in mind with regards to some of his critique on finance. Over th piece, the relationship between C1872 and DK, isn't a good look for C1872, nor DK. Mainly for that reason, the group are a busted flush with a lot of shares. No-one looks particularly good at the moment, on the inside or outside. And it is a mystery as to what, if anything is going on behind the scenes regards Foxy ladies and dead pop stars. Generally, these past few weeks have been a glimpse back into the dark past.2 points

I think it's fairly obvious that Van Bronckhorst just says the first thing that comes into his head and it often isn't the truth.1 point

A substantial chunk of money was reinvested. The issue is that it isn't giving much short term value. A player trading model is supposed to create a surplus, not break even. What Gio says on finances in a post match interview shouldn't be taken too seriously IMO. Perhaps he should have been told not to broach the subject in any detail because it'll nearly always pose more questions than provide answers that you can be sure about. On financial details, we'll have to wait for the accounts (including notes post year end).1 point

I would like to think so. But we do know that Tav has been carrying an injury for the last two games. Could be that he made light of it and/or insisted on playing I suppose.1 point

If only that was a tap you could turn on and off. The truth is that valuation when selling a company is usually based on multiples of EBITDA and, while football clubs cannot follow the usual basis of assessment, cash and debt will always be important factors. So if you're selling you want to be negotiating from as healthy a financial platform as possible. To be clear, I'm talking about valuation here .... any decision to buy Rangers will be made on financial and many other criteria. You might even speculate that a poorly performing company is a better buying prospect since it offers the best opportunity for growth and value improvement. The more I think about events of the last year, the more I could be convinced that some prominent shareholders are actively looking for an exit. My own experience is that this can take years or could be completed in months. Pure speculation of course, I could be miles wide of the truth, just adding up signs.1 point

I believe King is trying to be a thorn in the boards side so they'll buy his shares to get rid of him. However, he has raised legitimate questions and concerns. Don't think the board can continue to ignore him or the wider fan base.1 point

We kinda have - RSA, Sons of Struth, sections of fan media and now King have all spoken out publicly recently. Last night saw the current boards supporters - other sections of fan media and owner of Rangers pub jumping to boards defence and trying to demonise King and those who question the board. It's a shitshow.1 point

Sorry yes so Knutsen wouldn’t apply, but Stankovic recently resigned so he is a freebie. I had a look at the Serbian league table in the years before and after his appointment and Red Star’s points tally jumped 20-30 and they started regularly scoring 100+ goals.1 point

The soap-opra has recommenced and another 'split' in the fan base is inevitable. Some will back the current regime, some will back King and others will just sit back, grab a packet of popcorn and watch how this pans out. For the record i am critical of the current board but dont believe King is the right person to take us foreard either. He does but he is not wrong in anything that he says in his open letter.1 point

Maybe he's tried to talk to the board and they won't entertain him. I believe King and Park Jnr are not on speaking terms. The timing definitely sucks and you are 100% correct, something does stink (and has for a while). King will get as many answers as we get, but at least (as largest shareholder IIRC) he's highlighting and asking the permanent questions.1 point

You can`t say that this article reeks of media hysteria, nope, never. As for Mr. King, how about speaking to the Board (maybe via Club 1872 or the like) directly rather than the media, who has always been the club`s closest fans?1 point

Something stinks at Ibrox. Getting sick of all this. Oh and Dave please read the room and pick a decent time to come out with this.1 point

One thing is for sure, the players we have can't do it. Time to go man to man marking before all is lost.1 point

How quickly we forget. I knew absolutely nothing about Ryan Jack when he came to Rangers. The first things I learned were that he had been captain at Aberdeen and had been Rangers daft since boyhood but I has no idea what kind of player he was. He showed a little talent in his first season but spend so much time being red carded that it was impossible to see whether his recruitment was justified. Then Steven Gerrard arrived and Jack blossomed - at his peak I thought he was the best midfielder I'd seen at Rangers for many years. Gerrard more or less confirmed Jack as the first name on the team sheet. Last season the calf injury took over his playing career and it seems we'll likely not see his best again, which is a massive disappointment for Rangers and a tragedy for a player who is only 30 years old.1 point

The one thing for sure is that your manager shouldn't be announcing that it's impossible to compete. He is prioritizing trying to make excuses for himself, over what remains of CL campaign.1 point

Jack is one of our top players if fit. I don't know what his fitness outlook is but a fit Jack adds a solidity to our team that no other player does.1 point

Yeah, if there was any club we should be somewhat close to in our group it would be Ajax.1 point
