  1. It's disappointing that we've not used our position of playing in the CL to attract players and strengthen the team.

  2. Seems like nothing will happen. We'd have heard about any potential signings by now with paperwork and medicals required. We have a bloated squad, yes, but many are not good enough and can't even be punted, many are injured or coming back from injury with no guarantees they'll be up to speed before it's too late. Looks like we're losing a reliable midfielder and we are one or two more injuries away from a crisis. Yet, here we are in the most enviable position in over a decade with huge domestic and Champions league season ahead, and we think we're strong enough. We'll see if the cool guys still think we're strong enough by mid-next week. I'll be off to wet my pants then.

  3. Calling someone a "panty wetter" is fine if they're going nuts and making unreasonable demands. I don't think those of us who are questioning the lack of activity, particularly since CL qualification, fall into that category.

  4. Whats this panty wetter nonsense As if we haven't just went through the worst period in our history and still stuck by the team. Took doing after doing from that mob and stuck by our team. Got beaten to 2nd by Aberdeen and stuck by our team. Been managed by clowns like Pedro and Murty and stuck by our team. Got parped out of Europe by postmen from Luxembourg but stuck by the team. Now we have won 55. Made a European cup final. Qualified for the CL group stages against all odds. Picked up a Scottish cup for the first time in nearly 15 years. Sold a guy for 23 million. Being called a panty wetter because you would like to see a right winger come into the squad? Some take tbh.

  5. I'm genuinely surprised we haven't explored options for an additional striker. If Colak picks up a knock we have an overweight striker who is nowhere near match fit or we have a striker that sadly spends most of his time on the treatment table. It's a risky strategy IMO.

  6. 2008 all over again. It's worrying we don't have money after qualifying. What would have happened if we didn't. Sales you presume. indeed we will have raised a few million this week in sales and still nothing.

  7. That Fraser guy on Twitter said that’s from a fake account. Plus the 4th official is not entirely reliable when it comes to scoops

  8. I'd take draws at the Piggery and in Amsterdam and a win at the dung heap, if offered.

  9. I generally float between realism and pessimism. Lower expectations makes the good, feel better. I genuinely didn't see us being able to keep a clean sheet in Eindhoven. You'll be reassured to know I think similar for this weekend.

  10. We have a big squad and a big injury list (Lawrence the latest) - I won't be stamping my feet if we don't bring anyone in but I think we'll struggle to cope with the 'two a week' fixtures as things stand. If that lot win the league again, a combination of our terrific work in Europe and our stuttering domestic form will have made them millions.

  11. We need a league winning side. That's the be all and end all.

  12. I think the board will disagree - £16M for 2nd choice right back and £20M for 2nd choice left back (a player who was written of by a large section of the Rangers support some months ago). Ross Wilson has to work with a budget that's dictated by his bosses, maybe he'll feel as hacked off as Gerrard and Gio. After all he has to ballance new contracts and new signings within a relatively small budget. After all his signings won us 55, progressed brilliantly in Europe, got to EL final then qualified for CL......

  13. It looks like Ridvan will be given time to settle in but given the fee we paid, I think it's understandable to expect him to go straight into the first XI. Barisic has been playing well though. Let's hope BB has his angry head on on Saturday (he is a bit of a split personality type of player).

  14. I'm also rather bemused by the fact that we've spent nearly 6/7 million on 2 guys that have been bit part players so far. Granted Davies has a knock but I thought we were signing Ridvan based on the premise that he was upgrade on Barasic. It seems he is regarded as a player with potential. Can we afford to pay that money for a player with potential?

  15. You never know with transfer deadline day, something might still happen. Looking doubtful though...

  16. The one position that I would now call a bit weak is right back. With Zukowski gone, we have only have youngster Devine (who IMHO was solid the other day, but that might change under league or EL pressure and 50k Bears looking on), and stand ins who have played there in days gone by, King, Soutar, Jack, and Goldson. My gut-feeling says that Matondo will come good, or at least he will deliver in the league.

  18. Not bringing in any more players represents a vote of confidence, by the coaches, in the extant playing staff, and that is a Good Thing, surely. (Mind you, I wouldn't mind an International Superstar, before the deadline; or two.)

  19. Who are all these players that aren't good enough , the same players plus Aribo and Bassey , that got to a European final , honest to God.

  20. Good place to be. No disappointments and the occasional pleasant surprise.

  21. Of course, but you know how Rangers (and other) message boards tend to react #bipolar I'd settle for DLWW for next 4. Keep us in the hunt.

  22. A positive result on Saturday and all will be wonderful again. Get beat and social media might be for avoiding until just before Ajax .......repeat.

  23. I like Derek, Joshua and Craig some good content but I won’t be paying for any herald group content.

  24. Sorry I should have explained better , I wasn’t having a go at posters on here , but on other forums and especially twitter . I really think though that having a squad of nigh on 30 players , though that does include Devine , Lowry , McCann and Kieran Wright I’d big enough , it was 32 but Kelly and Katic are away . we just can’t keep buying players , it’s the harsh reality of where we are . And we need to keep the pathway for young players free .

  25. lots of normally reasonable types being totally panty wetters or valid points?

  26. I'd keep the money back for Tillman but not for Sands. Tillman is a prospect you don't have to think twice about. We can do better than Sands for the fee involved. We'll see how he stands up to the next couple of weeks. Besides, spend the money on a bit of quality now and it might end up helping you earn more money from taking points in the CL.

  27. we aren't allowed to be unhappy with spending 12 million even after all we have raised. We are supposed to be happy to cough up 180 quid for 3 games though. At some point this board will go to far even with everything they have done
    1 point
  28. but how many players need to go.... seems like its 1 quid in 5 reinvested. good luck to us if that's the level. what would we be doing this window if we hadn't sold bassey and made the CL. maybe we need to be more realistic thats fine but the level is quite shocking.

  29. Call me cynical but Helander is done and will see the season out contributing 0. Roofe will do the usual get fit score a few goals then go missing for a few months only for the process to start again. We have no one to blame for our short comings this season but ourselves. My hope is that our manager does enough to do well for us but doesn't attract attention from elsewhere. He has not been backed in the transfer market like his rival across the city.

  30. Some valid reasons for NOT making signings today: Probable future fees of ~£10m (Tillman/Sands) Large squad/wages Increasing costs However, reasons for making signings equally merited: Lack of forward options Unreliable squad (injury/quality) Busy autumn schedule Ultimately without moving on unreliable high earners (e.g. Helander and Roofe) and/or players that manager may deem acceptable to replace (e.g. Kamara and Sakala) then it becomes very difficult to find fees and wages to further bolster an already bloated squad of 29. As I said yesterday, it wouldn't surprise me to see at least two of those names leave today. A club may be tempted by Roofe (back in training) on loan with permanent moves for Kamara and Sakala in the region of £15m which would allow us to bring in two new players of good value. Even with no changes then our squad is still a good one. However, we simply must find a way to get Helander and, particularly, Roofe contributing. Similarly we must rotate the squad well and find a midfield balance that works domestically and in Europe. A big 12 hours ahead!

  31. As it stands, I think we'll struggle to win the league. If we brought even a couple of quality players in, it might make a big difference if they were to do well. We would need to start putting away provincial sides consistently (double figure or close to, winning runs) or/and start winning the OF matches. Gio hasn't lost to a provincial side since he took over but we have drawn too many. He has still to win an OF league match, no wins in 3. Saturday provides an opportunity to retake the momentum. Far from easy but one way or the other, this group of players (and mgmt) will show what they have got to offer.

  32. If Gio is prepared to trust him and play him then I agree, it would be the way to go. We need to start playing more of our own youngsters for various reasons. Including, the new financial regulation around 'Fair Play'.

  33. I wouldn't look at it that way, if we lose Kamara he needs replaced IMHO.

  34. Not sure about the Anthony signing for Man Utd. 86 Million? The manager is putting a lot of his eggs in one basket.
