Tinfoil hat time...... I don't blame the club for pricing it as they have. Yes, our fanbase are loyal and I would be very surprised to see the full allocation not being taken up which means the club have got it "right" - the club still need to maximise income and if the full allocation gets taken up at what are the maximum prices authorised by UEFA then they have done the right thing in terms of revenue maximisation. It is easy for me to say as I am fortunate enough to have the means to be able to pay it, so I absolutely understand people's frustrations. However, the "journey" has cost fans a fair bit of money but it has cost Park and the Board a significant sum too. We can't surely on the one hand be asking for the club to get us to self-sustainability and then bemoaning when they maximise a legitimate revenue stream ? I disagree with the "for all the money raised in the last 12 months" argument - are we to just rest on our laurels as a club and say "wow, we made a nice chunk from Patterson and Bassey, lets just give discounted CL prices as a thank you". Like it or not, it is a business. Maximising revenue is what they SHOULD be doing. And if the full allocation is taken up then they have done the right thing for the club. On a much smaller scale I was the Treasurer of a club here in Bermuda and it seemed that as a club we constantly would just give stuff away "to be nice" - free this and free that.... and the club ended up broke, with bills to pay and I had to completely restructure how we did things. Much smaller scale but the reality is that if you don't maximise your income then you are missing an opportunity. Always happy to agree to disagree - but IMHO the Club have done the right thing..... IF they maximise the allocation6 points

As far as next Saturday is concerned, forget the referee, it is about us standing up to the challenge and putting in a performance.6 points

I have no hesitation in paying the price, although I am on concession, but would gladly pay full price. I have been through many good and bad times with the club since I first went in the early 60's attending full houses, sitting on the terracing in a mid week game one time in a poorly attended game. I missed a lot of the nine in a row stuff and seeing a lot of stars that we had,due to working commitments. Was lucky to get a season ticket at the start of the journey and have endured some of the heartaches we went through then. The club is now on the up and long may it continue and being able to attend the CL games is a massive bonus.4 points

Maximising revenue in the short term is not always the correct approach. Yes, the games may sell out this time, but other games in the future may not because the "business" has pissed off its customers and there may be further repercussions down the line because the support is pissed off, or it may have an impact on the atmosphere etc. I remember going to CL group stage matches where we had crowds of 33,000 (against Dortmund) and 30,000. People had had enough and voted with their feet.4 points

Our central defence (including Sands) should be judged after the upcoming games (Ajax, Celtic, Aberdeen, Napoli and Liverpool. Colak's finish for our second goal was excellent and exactly what we need from a centre forward. Mention in dispatches for Scott Wright's part in the move.3 points

The non-stop money grab from our club these days would give David Murray a red neck. £150-£180 for season ticket holders is obscene. It looks like the "journey" has just brought us back to what we had before, give us your cash, sit down, shut up, and dont expect us to say thanks. For all the money raised in the last 12 months you would think a little humility and a reduced price as a thanks for our loyal support over the last decade especially wouldn't have been beyond them. Not that long ago we all paid around £500 to watch a full season on a dodgy RTV internet feed. Now waiting on CTM Sport offering a first class price for a 3rd class service to go to Holland. After their two previous failed attempts at extortion (£700 for Belgium and £675 to Eindhoven) what price for Amsterdam, one of the worlds biggest and cheapest airports to fly into?2 points

Looking at last season, Ajax won all six of their group games !!! If my arithmetic is correct, we have won 12 in total. Or 1 from every 5 games played in CL group stages, (10). The 12 are.... 8 home wins Brugge, Grasshoppers, PSV, Sturm Graz, Porto, Stuttgart (x2), Bursapor. 4 away wins CSKA Moscow*, Monaco, PSV, Lyon. *Neutral venue Takeaway from that is it shows how difficult it is to beat the top side in a CL group. Only Monaco (from win list) being arguably considered the best side in the group. ie. Don't put your mortgage on us to beat Liverpool. Gio as a manager with Feyenoord won 1 from 6 group games. At home in the last fixture against Napoli.2 points

Where’s the balancing statement of costs over the same period? Without it these income figures mean nothing.1 point
-
Are fans seriously saying the price for CL games is too high? Or just indulging a routine need to whine and complain? It would cost you more to go to an average music concert. If you don’t want to pay then please step aside for someone who does. There is nothing that Rangers sells that anyone is obliged to buy.1 point

Different type. He's an attack-minded CM, more a CAM.1 point

It's the same nonsense every single time. The club should keep pushing the prices up until people stop buying tickets.1 point

EPL clubs will pay him more than we should. No great loss.1 point

I don't think matches against Club Brugge or Stuttgart 20+ years ago are relevant to this season. We should be looking to win our home matches.1 point

Must be an iPad thing! Logged on but nothing showing, tried PC and hey presto there they were.1 point

I agree to an extent but I think there will be more than enough fans waiting in the wings to ensure all three matches are sold out. The majority of people complaining about the prices on FF will still purchase their tickets, I'd imagine. I think the prices are too high but there's no way I'm missing out on this after years of watching us play the likes of Annan, Brechin and Cowdenbeath.1 point

Crossed lines. I thought we were talking about Rangers and "a balancing act" when it came to revenue / give something back I didn't realize you were highlighting your own position on it.1 point
-
If enough supporters make a noise about it, they'll be forced into doing something. I just saw on FF a 250 post thread on the subject. It is definitely becoming an issue.1 point

Anyone expecting the club to reward us for loyalty would be best advised not to hold their breath. It's not going to happen. I'm looking forward to all the tourist fans around me at the three home matches. 🙄1 point

A blind man could see the economic hardships that are already here for some and around the corner for many others. Football is a luxury.1 point

they will sell out this time almost certainly given it's been so long. No question the club are pushing their luck though.1 point

I get the CL prices (see my first post on this thread) but the general thing of how supporters are treated has to be looked at holistically. In recent times, it appears that there is a lot of take and little in the way of rewarding something that is constantly praised. Mygers is a case in point. Effectively Taxing loyalty. I don't think the support expect hand-outs, even a pre season friendly free for ST holders would be gratefully received. Now that we have our finances in better order, the club may consider this or similar for 2023.1 point

Higher wages didn't work. I said a change to full time might help but 'better' training for new batches is obviously needed. Scottish football is generally a low quality environment and the current batch of officials are no different. VAR in Scotland, will I think suffer a similar relative fate. No, I am not a referee.1 point
-
They can't charge 200 mate - UEFA have a hard price cap of 60 quid per game, they won't let you charge more apparently.1 point
-
Yeap. So you think higher wages, permanent, full time positions would not attract better quality talent? Do you? Reeree? Let's take the risk...we are with VAR correct? Why half ass things? Remember...VAR is only as good as the guys talking things through.1 point

Those who do know the facts, obviously do make the decisions. But we know only too well that they don't always get them right.1 point

On the money! I actually feared it might be nearer £200 but what do we expect .... the club is striving to achieve as much as it can and that has to include maximising income opportunities. It's not as it the club is asking something for nothing, CL football is what we all wanted and every one of us puts considerable value on it ... so does the club and rightly so. But in these difficult times, anyone who feels the price is unacceptable should exercise buyer's rights and decline to purchase. I've every confidence all the tickets will sell.1 point

Alfredo will stay IMO. GvB making the right noises in his presser about his attitude improving.1 point

Aye, but Liverpool are the top side. Odds to win group (b365) Liverpool, 2/7 Napoli & Ajax, 13/2 Rangers, 14/11 point

The pros and cons that the Champion League brings. The club will have increased costs that they need to cover and being 31st of 32 teams in the 10 year co-efficient limits the guaranted revenue. Win a home game and it will double the evening's takings.1 point

Preferably with someone covering instead of leaving us 1 on 1 at the back ala Sands incident...1 point
-
I do think there's an element of unconscious bias going on but, for the most part, I just think it's general mistakes/incompetence. For example, whilst at the game the other day, I didn't think the second Sands incident was even a foul but it clearly was once I seen it on TV. Bizarrely, I did think the first incident was a yellow card at the time but didn't afterwards.1 point

i don't see how he improves us. he plays where lundstrum plays. Maybe instead of Kamara in Europe but he's no better and Kamara is struggling for minutes. We need attacking midfielders who score goals. He does not. Also we would have no prospect of keeping him. Loans like Tilman and Sands are ok. Loans like this would not be.1 point
