Short memories. When John McLaughlin kept all those clean sheets at the beginning of our 55 season he was widely praised as an excellent Rangers keeper. Since then he's hardly started a handful of games. Why are we writing him off like this? It's unseemly.5 points

For the life of me a can't understand why our management gave them so much respect by playing so defensively, they should have been more worried about us rather than the opposite. Lundstram was a waste playing deep on the right. Tav is not effective playing in a wide midfield role, he needs to be making those long runs losing his marker, felt he was marked out the game for the most part. Jack had probably his worse match for us, lack of match sharpness possibly but that's down to the management if so. Tillman was playing well but fell out of things as he was not getting the midfield support needed. Colak, should have done a whole lot better with the superb ball from Tillman and should have expected more from the great ball he put across in the 2nd half, that apart, for what ever reason, he ain't getting much service which needs to be remedied quickly. It was obvious that we needed to be asking more questions of them therefore Lawrence and Wright should have been brought on after 55/60mins. Anyhoo, i'm still too pissed off to write any more. AAAAHHHHHHHH FFS RANGERS.5 points

Let's all slow down...everybody probably looks good in training. As much as we are all slightly baffled by what unfolded last night, all the new players (7?) will require time to settle. Let's be patient and realistic (not attributes that are commonly associated with Rangers fans to be honest...)4 points

He's not played for a couple of months and missed most (if not all) of pre-season so not a surprise we're easing him back in. Same will happen with Roofe but Morelos may be fast-tracked for next week after a sub appearance this weekend.3 points

Not sure where that abysmal performance came from tonight but the only good thing I can say is that at least it was only 2-0. I'm quite frankly stunned at how bad we were and the manager has a lot of explaining to do as to why we struggled so badly. USG ran rings around us. From the goalkeeper right through the team not one player can say they did their job. All looked two yards short of pace, seemed uncaring about working hard and were outmuscled at every opportunity. No point in singling out anyone as, to a man, we had a shocker. Like I say, the only good thing is we're not completely out the tie but, on that form, we won't be coming back anyway. I was looking forward to Ibrox on Saturday but, aside from a total turnaround in attitude and effort, we may as well not turn up. Completely unacceptable.3 points

The tactics were wrong. The forward line did next to nothing because it was completely cut off from everything behind it. If Morelos was playing then we could just punt it up to him. That wasn't an option. Why didn't the manager play Tillman deeper?2 points

Good news for supporters who use the Subway... https://www.glasgowtimes.co.uk/news/20594531.union-suspends-glasgow-subway-strikes-concern-rangers-games/ "A UNION has called off a strike involving workers at Glasgow's subway. SPT has confirmed Unite has suspended the strike action planned on four days this month.".2 points

Maybe Morelos has better hold up play and movement than Colak which is why he got no service. Same thing has happened with Itten and Roofe at times when Morelos has been absent. We need to remember Morelos is quite good.2 points

The first goal went right through McLaughlin, not only was it absolutely saveable, it goes down as a very bad mistake in my book not to have saved it. His second error in a week after his run out and stop in no mans land at Livvy. It would have been a forgettable routine save, not a worldy, had he made the save. No vote cast, I dont think any of them got above a 2 out of 10. And while I had been predicting this performance since the journey home from Seville, (see Zizkov & Kaunas for reference) it was still almost unbelievable to actually watch it unfolding. I cant fathom how we absolutely shat the bed from 1 to 11 plus really bad calls from the manager and staff also. Gutted doesnt come close.2 points

Wouldn't it make more sense to re-visit the suitability of McLaughlin after he's played continuously for a dozen games or so?2 points

Agree about midfield. There was literally no one in the actual middle of the park to receive the ball last night. We should be giving McLaughlin options through the centre as teams have rumbled our play it wide from the keeper tactic. Much like Henderson/Fabhino do for Liverpool. Van Dyke and Mario usually spread wide leaving a huge channel for the centre of the pitch for Allison to use as plan B. Our insistence on getting everything down the flanks is our downfall IMO.2 points

Top trolling from the BBC. But its ok, we need them and they apologised so we now need to put up with this. (sarcasm)2 points

I would say that even the Europa League is above our level. Last season we punched well above our weight IMO.2 points

All the above mentioned qualities have been coached out of players now the play like robots when we all know what’s needed a little bit of individual skill and players like dear old Ralph who ran into spaces that defenders never knew existed we could be in for a dire season if this tripe continues1 point
-
And when you move, find space and the pass never comes - what then? At the moment we are consumed with square passes and misplaced crosses. The problem isn’t the front man.1 point

If you can't see the difference in the way Morelos and Colak play the game then you must be blind. Two very different kinds of forward.1 point

Dare I suggest that it will make little difference until we know how we want to play. Colak literally got no service last night which is a worry. That therefore to me suggests that swapping to Alfie is not going to simply provide the magic bullet to our current predicament.1 point
-
Alfie was overplayed while injured last season. If we bring him back too soon he could have a setback. Being deemed fit and match fit are 2 different animals. Catch 22 situation.1 point

McLaughlin for me. Even if you think he was to blame for 1st goal (and I don't go along with that), his later saves mean that the overall he had a decent match. There are not many others who you can say that about.1 point

It most certainly would ideally. Perhaps the issue with that is the window and worth noting we will either need to promote RM or get a keeper anyway for next year. It's an area we need to look at if we have money. When is debatable but short to medium term.1 point

In other words we get everything we deserve after displays like last night , I would say that’s the worst since the Gornik game1 point

I have concerns about CM. We have a number of bodies there but lack real stand out every game quality. Davis, Jack and Airfield cant play every game. Kamara seems to have regressed massively since 55 season. Only Lundstram at the moment is showing that and we seem to deploy him at centre back at times 🤦♀️ Need to give Tillman, Lawrence a chance to settle in and see what they can offer. Get Lowry fit and get him games. But would like to see a traditional #8 in to play alongside Lundstram.1 point

So many things about last night were perplexing. Seeing us with rigid line of 5 across the back whilst we were behind was bizarre. Why didn't Matondo play inside? He was basically playing 10/15 yards in front of Tav on the right side.1 point

Hopefully not a sign of things to come domestically. I don't say that from a 'they are out to get us' perspective. I say that from a 'they are inept and utterly incompetent at everything they do' line of thought.1 point

Perhaps what they really mean is they think a good goalkeeper could have saved it.1 point

I watched that debacle in the pub ( and, no, it didn't help). What went wrong? Only: preparation; formation; team selection; individual performances; inability to change anything. There is not much more to be said. However, Jack/Lundstram/Kamara doesn't work if you want to play attacking football, particularly when the full backs appear to have been told to defend, producing a back 5, with little in the way of linkage to your forwards, one of whom was clearly out of position. The opposition had a game plan, which you might say was better than ours, if we actually had one, which is moot. Basically, all that means is that they knew what they were doing, and, to be fair, could do it. A number of their players were, as they say 'technically good', and given our lethargy, could shimmie past our players and through our formation with embarrassing ease. Last night was 'unacceptable' and (one hopes) 'lessons will be learned'. As for next Tuesday, we will be doing well to get a win, far less take it to ET, or qualify. It looks like Thursday/Sunday for this season.1 point

Really puzzled at the line-up and formation, and then the managers insistence that he stick to something that's not working for 70 mins. Not sure the 3 at the back against a defensive side with a front 2 is such a good idea when the 3 at the back worked best for us v Leipzig and Dortmund who had front 3 and came at us. McLaughlin - Should have done better with the 1st goal. Tav - Not in the game enough, but not sure of the link up with Matondo ahead of him blocking his running path Barisic - Kinda had enough of this type of performance from him now to know its coming. Poor for the first goal didn't offer enough going forward. Goldson - unlucky for the penalty. Sands - got lost a bit for the first goal, got that booking late in the first half but did well to avoid conflict and fouling after. Lundstram - have no idea how our best midfielder was playing right side of a back 3 for so long. Was a waste. Jack - miles off it, game passed him by, misplaced passes and in poor positions often. lack of minutes in pre season a factor? Kamara - can do a job as a #10 but like the back 3 i think works best against attacking sides. Couldn't find space or team mates. Matonto - very one dimensional as you would expect, wants the ball ahead of him. Not like Kent who can take the ball in back to goal and get turned. Tillman - out best performer of the first half, held the ball up well and found space. Good ball in for Colak which he should have done better. Colak - second game now he had no impact. Got no service other than ball from Tillman. Is this due to teammates or is his movement not good enough. Was very isolated so hard to be critical. Yilmaz and Davies looked ok. Davies unlucky like Goldson for his part in the 'penalty'. Wright came off the bench and had some desire and ideas about him. Referee and VAR officials both got penalty decision wrong. How can this be? the point of VAR officials is to keep referee in the right?1 point

Scott Wright made 2 more incisive runs than anyone else. So why not. Should have started tbh.1 point
-
It's wrong to single him out. On last night's performance NONE of them are CBs.1 point

He should have saved their first goal tbh but he did ok with what came his way after that.1 point

Proof tonight VAR won't solve any issues! never a penalty, imagine what it will be like in the SPFL?1 point

I think the worst thing about it was the failure to make changes to formation, strategy and players. There was a failure to actually address what was happening. We were getting absolutely nowhere and perhaps that was because we had three defensive mids on the pitch. There was nowhere near enough movement.1 point

Brutal. Hardly a breath of wind to offer any relief. I don't go up there any more without a mozzie head net and gloves.1 point
