Tie to be played either 300822 or 310822. Rangers v Queen of the South.4 points
-
Can’t argue with that although I do like my ‘keepers to be shot stoppers first and foremost. It sort of fits with the job description. McGregor’s problem is that his command of the box, never his strongest suit, is diminishing leading to errors and goals so McLaughlin it should be.4 points

Exactly. Why swap the keepers over the past 2 games? The first choice should have started them both so that the keeper and defence get more practice of playing it out from the back, which Gio obviously wants them to do.4 points

Why start McGregor yesterday if McLaughlin is to get the nod next week? What puzzles me is a manager who wants to play out from the back giving McGregor an extension ? Great shot stopper, yes but his distribution is simply not good enough. That goes for being first choice or backup.4 points

For every keeper, as is the case with any defender, once you are pressed clear the ball. Whether it row z or into touch in the opposition half rugby-style doesn`t matter. Any attempt of playing short passes in and around the area should be punished.2 points

I could understand a debate about whether it should be McGregor or McLaughlin, if we were NOT going to be a team to play it out from the back. In that case, I'd still give the gloves to McLaughlin because McGregor's lack of command in his 6 yard box has morphed into a way that provincial dross (PD) target our goal,...and had success last season. Enter reallity, ie. Gio wants us to play out from the back and it isn't even a debate. If Gio wants to play out from the back, surely we want two keepers who are good at distribution. Maybe it is just a cunning plan, to encourage PD to venture forward and press us. ps. I hope that McLaughlin´s attemped mazy in his 6 yard box against West Ham will be off the agenda come the competitive stuff.2 points

The challenge for Rangers is so different from what the likes of Spurs face. They get handed £130m every year for doing nothing, we get a tiny fraction of that. They buy players for tens of £millions and pay them salaries our players can only dream of. Season after season they don't have to win anything but we if go 3 games without winning there's hell to pay. Yet we win trophies and conjure up astonishing European results when they don't. It's not hard to make a case for Rangers being a far, far bigger and better club than Spurs, West Ham, etc. What we achieved these last couple of seasons is outstanding and we should bear that in mind when criticising our players or performances.2 points

IMO, Spurs will finish 3rd this season and will give the top 2 in England a run for their money. Conte is a top coach and he has some truly world class players. I watched Spurs do the same thing to Liverpool last season at Anfield so losing 2-1 to a quality side carries no shame. They are probably the best team we'll play all season (depending on CL qualification)2 points

I lost count of the number of under-hit passes yesterday, mainly by Glenn Kamara. I find it inexplicable that such an obviously skilled player should do that. Then for periods he was his old self again. You have to wonder what gets into players' heads sometimes. If anyone thinks we can assimilate 5 or 6 players into the team overnight and there isn't going to be an adjustment period then it's a mistake. It could well be several weeks before we see what this new squad is capable of. Let's hope what we have today is good enough in the meantime.2 points

H. Kane--Excellent--world class--a pleasure to watch. Barisic--swan song? caught out against quality--I hope the Turk is an improvement. Sands--Damn your head man!...solid performance otherwise. GBA! Tillman looks the real deal. Colak, Lawrence and Matondo--Will reap us a fortune in goals. Tavernier--Captain my captain...solid Kent solid. Goldson...how can you defend that goal?...Kane is incredible...Solid otherwise. Pleased with my team...looking forward to 56....and a deep run in Europe!2 points

Decent game against a very good Spurs side. Would also lile to thank the staff of The Louden who helped wirh my Father-in-law who took a wee turn after the game. Also to the police for letting me go get the car and pick him up outside of The Louden.2 points

Yeah, TT was trying 4-4-2 and it wasn't a good idea!! Plus the Gooners have played a couple more matches, so i wouldn't read too much into it.1 point

Almost certainly but is Davies ready for 90 minutes yet?1 point

Gut feeling also says McGregor, but I hope not. Tillman will be eased into the British/Scottish game, so I would assume Lawrence going into the creative slot. Kent will sure get his place on the left, but you would hope that we, every now and then, put him on the left-midfield role and have a more lethal chap in front of him. Right now, I wouldn`t mind Sakala - Colak - Matondo, as Sakala has the pace and trickery needed to get through packed defences, as well as shoots if the opportunity is there ... while Kent time and again overruns balls or takes on one defender too any. Let him come from a deeper area ... though that may soon become Ridvan territory. Once Morelos is fit, I`d place him in the left attacking slot next to Colak, who is very central. IMHO, certain people do not have to start every week, every game. Kent has his plusses, many of them, yet, we need goalscorers up top and for all his assists, the end product for that attacking slot has to be goals. Against packed defences, his pace often becomes too blunt a weapon. EDIT: IMHO the defence will soon be Davies and Goldson.1 point

In my opinion our defence is as dodgy as private Walker from Dads Army1 point

I agree but think McGregor will be #1. Think Jack will miss livi but play in Europe. His lack of availability is a big problem considering how key he is for us.1 point

I thought considering some of these players have only played twice together that we did really well today , what killed us was 2 slack passes and they totally took their chances . Say what you like about him but Kane is ruthless . We looked really really good in patches and domestically we will give some teams a right spanking if we can continue ating fast one touch football . Let the fun begin . Thanks again to Bluedell for having me along .1 point

I wasn't too disappointed with that. Thought Kamara had a great game and I dont say that too often. Poor goals to lose but Kane is class. Spurs were a level above us to be fair but we could have had another couple of goals. Good that the new guys are off the mark early doors. Bring on the real stuff1 point

He is fine thanks - had an asthma attack and recovered once his inhalers kicked in1 point

Spurs squad really is on a different planet when you consider finance and depth. At one stage, they had Kane, Son, Richarlison and Perisic on the pitch at the sametime !!! I hope your Father-in-law has now recovered @CammyF1 point

Decent workout, we had the better of the first half, gave away two bad goals (great finishes by Kane though) and then should have equalised in later stages. Result not important, we looked fitter, sharper and closer to being ready for Livingston and Union, with no injuries picked up, and with more minutes for newbies and fringe players to come tomorrow we look right on track. I’m fairly happy with that. I don’t judge new players by a few friendlies so can’t really tell what we’ve bought yet but we won’t play sides with as many top players as Spurs at all unless we make the CL so hopefully they can continue to improve fitness and getting to know their teammates and our playing style and hit the ground running next Saturday.1 point
