I enjoyed last night much more than I expected too. As has been said above Sands and Goldson looked good together, Sands looked really composed on the ball despite playing on the left side. Barasic had the kind of game you know he's capable of. How we went from Barasic running at our goal along our own byline to scoring 10 seconds later is a thing of wonder, what a move that was. Experience has taught me not to judge anyone on pre-season friendlies, but both Lawerence and Matondo looked like good acquisitions to the squad. Matondo is really fast, hopefully he's not this season's Diallo. Interesting that Lowry isn't in the squad. I've heard some say he's injured but not heard the club confirm this. Devine looked assured when he came on. He's right footed I think so not a natural replacement for Barasic, I think we can expect a left back to be signed as cover then. Lastly, a big thank you to the lady who paid for my son's drinks last night. He went down to the kiosk in the Broomloan rear and ordered two cokes and a water and tried to pay with a £20 not realising they only took card payments. He doesn't have a card and a woman behind him offered to pay and wouldn't take his money. I've no idea who she was and he couldn't point her out to me when he returned to our seats. On the off chance she reads this thank you very much, that was very kind.7 points

I'll continue to ignore the BBC output. Haven't missed it one bit.5 points

@ian1964should write back to BBC London and tell them that he was correct in his complaints as BBC Scotland have admitted wrong-doing and that their complaints system isn't for for purpose.4 points

Devil's Advocaat, You are correct in saying, "I don't think we exactly win"; however, I think Compo is also correct in paraphrasing Rangers are not the winner. Seven years, BBC Scotland deliberately took Rangers supporters License Fees and provided a much lesser service to the Rangers support. They knew elderly, infirm, hospitalised and, Gers fans in remote areas had little or no access except through the national broadcaster. Pacific Quay laughed up their sleeves, taking their substantial salaries(part paid by our payment of license fees) and triumphantly celebrating their on going preferred prejudice. During the last four years, BBC Scotland did NOT speak once to a major world football figure, Steven Gerrard because he managed Rangers. PQ is half a mile from Ibrox. In the same period, they provided NO coverage to Rangers winning the Premiership(title confirmed after St Mirren defeated at Ibrox) and, failed to provide any live commentary for anyone of nearly 40 home European games. Of course, there was another narrative propagated by BBC Scotland. Their reporter was intimidated and barred from Ibrox. Chris McLaughlin lost his Press privileges due to constant lack of objectivity whilst reporting on Rangers. BBC Scotland promoted Chris twice, he is BBC Scotland's 'Sports News Correspondence'. Again, in part we paid for his corresponding increases in salary and conditions. I welcome BBC Scotland's admission of failure to apply objective Editorial standards and accept their apologies but, they have NEVER and will NEVER do to another club what they did to our club and support.4 points

So basically you missed the good part of the game?4 points

"A disagreement between BBC Scotland and Rangers FC has limited the BBC's ability to report from Ibrox Stadium over a long period of time." I having difficulty seeing the climbdown in those words. It implies the BBC couldn't report from Ibrox when in actual fact they could have done so at any time but refused to do so. The BBC acknowledges a dispute and even its own role in creating it but completely fails to admit that the decision not to report on Rangers was its alone.2 points
-
For me, this is meaningless. What exactly is it that you think this "agreement" will provide for Rangers or its supporters? I can't see me tuning in to Off the Ball or waiting with bated breath for the next report from SportSound. I haven't watched or listened to BBC football coverage for years and I see no reason to change that. The BBC offers nothing I can't get better from elsewhere. If it wasn't for @26th of footand his regular posts on the subject, I would have no idea what was said about Rangers on the BBC ... and care even less. Good luck if you think this will change anything.2 points

The background was his 'partnership' with Toxic Jack during the dark years. CMcL was a very willing conduit who would end whatever information he had been given with a editorial summary with the regime/ Irvine's slant.2 points

It all came from an incident with Chris McLaughlin who could not find anything to say against the team and went to police control to see if they had anything unsavoury to report. He is now in a senior position at BBC but must be pig sick at the apology.2 points

I must be honest and maybe, living in England I don't get the full force of it, but I've often thought some supporters are just lying in wait for Gordon to reveal an insult or a slight, real or imagined. I've heard him praise Rangers quite often though he's never hidden his support for Aberdeen. I rely on BBC Scotland living where I do so I think it is good news.2 points

A positive and surprising statement. Hopefully we can move on without their bias showing.2 points

Kind of agree but I’m not convinced we’ll add one as long as Roofe is on the books. What calibre of striker is coming here while we have Morelos, Colak and Roofe? A 6 month loan might make more sense but I suspect we are looking at using Tillman there if it comes to it. I'd honestly hoped a decent bid would come in for Morelos and we’d have an opportunity to reinvest that money in a new striker in this window but it's looking like we will be going into a transfer window in January where Morelos is free to agree terms with whoever he wants. If he gets offers in a top league I can't see him turning it down really.2 points

I was thinking: If we have a back-three formation up our sleeves too (we did last season, and we've signed defenders that can be utilised in a back-three), we're well-set. And, we've got a manager that can get the best out of tinkering with formations, mid-match.2 points

Preferrably a first choice one. BB has started pre season quite well but you never know what one you are going to get.... its either the shitebag BB at Parkhead or the fighting with the fans and right up for it against some pyro chuckers at Ibrox2 points

Agree, and I am very much hoping Tillman will be that creative player. He has said he is an 8 or a 10 so you could see him.playing in front of Kamara and Jack/Lundstram. The issue will be if those three are fit Gio may push Kamara into that position and I don't think he natural there like Tillman hopefully will be. I’m hoping Matondo can be our Sterling on the right. I’m very excited to see Tillman playing balls in behind the full backs and Matondo getting to the byline, we've never really had pace like this in the team.2 points

There's probably a time and a place for a 4-3-3 with the workmanlike midfield three (Lundstram, Jack and Kamara), like in Europe or a tough domestic fixture that requires more of a counter-attacking style. However, I think we need more creativity in our #8s in a 4-3-3. This could work in the league against the diddy teams, using Hagi, Lowry, Arfield, Tillman, Lawrence etc. as the #8s, giving us more creativity and penetration. The 4-2-3-1 gave us more balance.2 points

Usually receive a delivery of them in the Enclosure with about 15 minutes to go, not sure it's worth the old codger struggling round the ground with dome scotch ones. A crispy rowie and butter would be a hit 🙂1 point

It depends on the quality of coverage in future. I mean the B.B.C. has conceded certain points but that doesn't also mean that it will stop broadcasting the opinions of complete idiots.1 point
-
What's unacceptable, BBC have resumed coverage after their self imposed ban. They've also apologised for unfair reporting, it's clear cut.1 point
-
Doesn't seem like it so a very interesting piece of news. Specific mention of Michael Stewart by RFC may mean he's present at the ground for coverage but possibly not.1 point

Watched the second half, didn`t see the first two goals though (well, they are in the highlights above). That kickabout in defence for the last 15-20 mins with West Ham pressing gave me shivers. Why is it so hard to kick the ball up the park, even rugby-style into touch in their half, but spare us that harakiri-defending? As pointed out above, depending on the opposition at hand, we should change formations. While it is useful to play 4-3-3 against better opposition and suss them out, it shouldn`t be the way ahead in Scotland. Especially with 3 DMs and hardly any sort of creativity. We saw that these last two games, with our wing-attackers being mopped up and Colak rather isolated. Obviously, we could replace Wright with Matondo, but that needs to be tested too.1 point

Bassey's LB role replacement... "Rangers have been meeting with Beşiktaş for 10 days for Rıdvan Yılmaz. Asking the details of the broken agreement with Frankfurt, the Scots are preparing an offer. Kartal wants 6 million € + a share of the next transfer directly. Rangers in preparation for a player sale can afford this price."1 point

Still find his hatred for us bizarre considering he enjoyed the blue pound for many years. A very odd chap.1 point

The onus is on the BBC here to prove that they can report responsibly and accurately without levels of extreme bias. Hopefully they can be professional. Many Rangers supporters like myself are forced to pay a licence fee to fund thier coverage.1 point

Absolutely. As strong as we've been at centre back for a while. And we have a number of versatile players who allow us to tinker formation without necessarily making changes. I think Sands is a very useful player to have, I really hope he proves himself this season.1 point

Also think we need a striker, cant really rely on Roofe. A loan would be good or an experienced pro like Defoe.1 point

Lowry does have a knock but should be back for the start of the season.1 point

Family commitments last night meant I only seen the first half and the last 15mins of the 2nd. First period we played OK, moved the ball well but struggled to cause any problems in attack as we couldn't get the ball to Colak early enough. Second half we seemed to move the ball a bit quicker with Matondo and Lawrence providing a bit more quality. All in all a very good result against a decent EPL outfit but I'm worried with the lack of depth in attack. Colak looks OK at the moment and works hard but we have no-one else should we he pick up a knock. Apparently Tillman can play as a striker but if Morelos is still two months away and Roofe as unreliable as ever fitness wise then I think we need another number 9.1 point

He spent much of last season injured and couldn't play more than 1 game a week when he was fit. It was time to cut the net. Agree with @Rousseau a LB to challenge Borna for the spot is a must. A young chap with potential would be worth the risk here like the Isreali boy Leidner.1 point

There were a couple of moments when McLaughlin and the defenders were a bit ponderous on the ball, which we need to be wary about. West Ham weren't going full pelt but the Belgians will (probably) be.1 point

A lot of positives from last night. If we could only learn to play out more we would be more productive and create more chances and limit the dangers in our own box.1 point

We looked at lot more creative after going to a 4-2-3-1 after the break. Another Gio tactical adjustment pays dividends.1 point

Quite like Craig, always gotten along well with him. However not convinced this appointment will make much of a difference as for all intents and purposes Club 1872 under its present stewardship is beyond redemption for the vast majority of the fanbase. Club 1872 will limp along throwing a few bob in King's direction every now and again but unlikely to be a serious player in the game.1 point
