Couldn't agree more. At the moment we are stuck complaining about no signings. I want to move on to the next stage where we complain about the quality of signings made. At the current rate of progress it will be September before we get to start complaining about the fitness levels of signings. If we are lucky we can start complaining about the team properly in October. Not acceptable.7 points

See, this is where these transfer threads always lose any appeal for me, when dire warnings are issued to Ross Wilson and his team that they need to give themselves a shake and get on with business. As if this experience director, a man who spends his life wrestling with the problems of player recruitment and squad management, has been asleep at the wheel or is somehow blind to the difficulties we face. And all he required was for some font of wisdom on a minor fans forum to point out the error of his ways. I can't make up my mind if this is simply absurd or if there are people here who actually believe they have a more profound grasp of player trading than Ross Wilson.6 points

Actually one game mate. Had we got, and converted, the two stonewall penalties we were denied against Celtic at Ibrox in March we would have won the league. Completely agree about some of the histrionics in here. Should we strengthen ? Yes. Will we lose the league if we don't ? Absolutely zero guarantee that happens if we keep this squad together. Some observations with respect to last season and our squad : 1. We were still very close to winning the league (see point above) 2. Our squad quite possibly were complacent last season - unacceptable, but understandable given the prior season invincible league campaign 3. Celtic benefitted more than us, by far, with "honest mistake" officiating. Aside from the 2 stonewall penalties that would have won us the league you can count a bunch of times they got a large slice of the "benefit of the doubt" 1. They scored an offside goal against Hearts to turn 1 point into 3 2. They scored another offside goal against Hearts that turned 1 point into 3. 3. They should have had a penalty given against them in the last minute at home to Livingston which would have turned 3 points into 1. 4. Then we have the penalty we should have had at Ibrox against Dundee Utd when Sakala was pulled back, that would have turned 1 point into 3 5. Then we have the draw at Tannadice when we were denied a stonewall penalty for handball which would have turned 1 point into 3 These are just off the top of my head and provide a 14 point swing (10 points for points 1 to 5 and 4 points from the OF game at Ibrox). The suggestions that we are way behind them if we go with this squad is quite preposterous IMHO4 points

We did ourselves no favours continuing to play a goalkeeper who was costing us points3 points

Getting close to the squad's Monday flight to Portugal with no business of note yet having been done, in or out. It looks as if we wanted Colak on board for the week on the Iberian peninsular but that is looking increasingly unlikely. The closer to the CL qualifiers we get, the more likely it is going to be a case of relying on the same old. Generally, that doesn't tend to work out well, regardless of how well in Europe we went the season just ended. After the epic 92/93 season, we went out in our first tie against Levski Sofia. In the summer of 2008, we left our main recruitment drive until AFTER Kaunas had put us out. In the worst case scenario this season, we will play at least 8 games in Europe. Absolute minimum, that first CL qualifer is worth about 7M euros on it's own. Winning it would guarantee a 5M consolation payment if we were to go out of the Play off round, plus an extra home tie (gate money etc.). If you consider whatever our transfer budget might be this summer, an extra incoming 7M euros has to be huge. 30 days until the competitive KO, with the CL qualifier a few days later. I hope we use the time to act in a timely fashion.3 points

very good point and I will take a positive out of it... Its good they've noticed this at an early stage rather than when they're expected to be challenging the B squad 😁2 points

There certainly seems to have been some kind of sea change in recruitment policy.2 points

It's actually brilliant to see. It's just what we want. Hopefully we can see them progress into the first team over the next few years - or get sold for megabucks.2 points

Perhaps we have accepted our level given our players? Maybe the team are content with working within the confines of Europa League? No shame in that. Play our Europa position, focus on the league, and get CL groups next year. I think, IF this is our M.O. it is pragmatic, and realistic. I am exceedingly proud of Rangers overall.2 points

Given the value they added this calendar year, not much to replace. However, being without decent centre forward options cost us in the Eintracht game. Strange how we have often had the same issue for our European (semi)finals and it has cost us. 67: no centre forward 93: Hately suspension 08: Cousin suspension 22: Morelos injury The one where our first choice was available, he scored (Stein) and we won. Back to 2022, the 'same old' won't win the title this upcoming season.2 points

We dont look like we are taking the CL seriously. You would have thought targets would have been identified and players brought in by now. The board need to get it together and fast. This is a real slap in the face to the fans who have backed the team to hilt with their wallets for little return.2 points

Only brilliant in the sense we needed them. See my previous post as to why it isnt as good as you may think1 point

We should always be aiming to hoover up the best young talent we can. The recent flurry is both encouraging in that we are able to sell the benefits of coming to us to develop their career (and for the club, hopefully profiting from their ability/sale down the line), but also a concern that the Auchenhowie conveyor belt seems to have missed a few straps in that we have big gaps to in our U16-18 ages that have needed to be filled. Guys like @elfideldo are much better placed to comment though.1 point

I'm enjoying the academy hoovering up talent though...1 point

Quite understandable, but not the best of situations to be in regards negotiation or timely recruitment. I think the days of directors/investors converting loans into shares has pretty much gone and to cover any shortfall, it will be interest bearing loans instead. Ross Wilson is the man who should be managing these situations proactively. Not good we have all three in the same boat at the same time. We have done very well to convert relative peanuts spent for Morelos and Aribo, to how much they are worth today. But we need to convert a fair percentage of these into big incoming transfer fees. Huge couple of months for our finances.1 point

As I’ve said previously, I think we’re waiting to see if we get acceptable bids for Aribo,Kent & Morelos before we commit ourselves to major signings1 point

Personally, I'd rather the Rangers Charity Foundation focussed its activities in support of Erskine and other armed forces charities.1 point
