At 22 years old, it is now or never. At 19, Ajer went on loan to Kilmarnock. Played regularly for six months, returned to Celtic, was a first team player for 4 seasons then was sold for around 14 million pounds. Note. They paid around 500,000 to buy into system. That is what we need to start doing on a relatively regular basis.4 points

More of a B team signing but seems a good one nonetheless.3 points

I am a big fan of Kamara, but he doesn't quite have a position in GvB's team. Even so, we need to be selling our assets once they've been developed. He could play a similar role to the recently departed Yves Bissouma.2 points

Much like "them" and 1967, does anyone lese feel it a little overdone? While it is the highlight of our history, must we bang on about it so often? A new film, a new range of merch, another celebration dinner. I was at the 25th anniversary dinner, the 30th, 35th, etc but at some point surely we say enough now and move on. I reckon I am very much in the minority here but I have seen and heard enough about Barcelona '72 to last a lifetime. I have just turned 51 myself so all my life I have had this retold and retold. It would have been one of the massive bonuses for me if we had managed to beat Frankfurt, that we could finally have consigned all the '72 stuff to history for good. I truly believe our achievement in getting to the finals in '08 and '22 were far harder and far greater achievements than winning 5 ties against fellow cup-winners. That is of course debatable, and the ultimate aim is to win and of course we came up short on both these ocassions.2 points

Like the Mayo deal. If he has a good year at Killie he is back next season to take Helanders spot in the squad (contact expires after this year iirc). If he doesnt then its no big loss. Club clearly have confidence in the lad. As does McInnes.2 points

Yes I like that very much, apart from the plastic pitch. Keep a close eye on young Lewis Mayo.2 points

Why wouldn't it be the man who only a month ago we trusted with a Europa cup final? I think many who expect McGregor to be a bit part player this season may be surprised.2 points

The argument that he has never changed can be countered by the actual damage done last season, starting with the last minute Hearts equalizer at Ibrox. He didn't have an excellent season, it was a mixed bag. When he was good he was very good but..... Any player can make mistakes but in this case it gives our domestic opposition an obvious tactic to follow to create substantial danger in our box without having to actually create much. We may not expect him to come for cross balls but it makes the defensive duties a lot easier if you have a keeper who will look to dominate at least their 6 yard box. Then there is distribution, a huge part of the modern game. His shot saving is excellent but how many that he saves would go past McLaughlin ? Your talk of "ageism" is clutching at broken straws. The fact that the manager has went with this is more of an argument and now that it is done, we'll just have to see what happens. I've already said my piece on the balance of the squad and that there are too many players in it (as it stands) who need 'managed', whether it be for age (limitations it can bring a footballer) or chronic injury.2 points

I recently watched his amazing double save against Leipzig (I think) and find it hard to equate that with the proposition he’s ready to be canned2 points

I think the issue with McGregor is more his inability to command the box than his age. It's a cause for concern whenever a decent cross comes in. He still makes some great saves but the blunders are increasing.2 points

I'm indifferent, we've had better and we've had worse 🤣 The sleeve sponsor just seems to take most of the attention1 point

Rising interest rates might suppress the spending plans of many indebted clubs. I don’t think many in the media have realised this yet.1 point

You're not alone. It was a great achievement but it was 50 years ago ffs. It's got the 1966 feel about it for me. Every time it's brought up as our main achievement I just feel it reinforces how little Euro glory we've achieved in that broad expanse of time since Barcelona. I haven't been able to drum up the enthusiasm to watch it, which probably sums up how tired I am of endlessly repeating it every ten years of so. I'd rather have seen a compilation story of all our five finals, maybe with our unbeaten run in 1992-93 thrown in.1 point

Lad needs to nail down a place there and come back to us ready for the Rangers first team.1 point

I actually found myself watching a Linfield game last season on Sky and thought I'll keep watching to see how he does, he came on as a sub and I was quite surprised at how 'off the pace' and untidy he looked, especially after some of the stuff he had done at Motherwell. As you say, definitely worth the risk at the time.1 point

I agree. McLaughlin probably is not the answer. McCrorie kinda had that sketchy loan spell to Livi...at 24 maybe he is not where management would like to see him? However, that position, and the nature of that position, in goal, is as psychological as it is physical. Like a pitcher in baseball, or a kicker in football, it occupies a certain head space not required in others. You are a team member, but you are also on an island. Re-signing a club LEGEND like McGregor does nothing to help that.1 point

You may be right but I think this is largely about managing a successful transition and not just who pulls on the jersey1 point

I'd hope there will be higher offers given how he was playing when he came back from the International break in January, this year. That was a game-changing player but you balance that out against his contract situation. It'll be down to what offers come in rather than what we think any price should be. I don't think we can afford to let all three (Morelos, Kent and Aribo) run their contracts down. Getting one decent fee in would help our bargaining position with the others. It might end up being Bassey where serious offers may come in. With the players in the driving seat, it rarely works out how clubs would ideally have it.1 point

McGregor conceded too many goals last season that he should have saved.1 point
-
It really depends on whether he's No.1 or not. If he starts the first league match, I think the concern is totally understandable. We lost a league title we should have won. McGregor was certainly involved in some of the needless points dropped. The league is the main priority, hence improvements need to be made because the scum will definitely add a few starters to their squad.1 point

Still a long way to go in the window but I have reservations about how the squad is shaping up, whilst hoping they are dismissed come said window slamming shut. As it stands IMO, there are too many players who will have to be managed because of age or chronic injury problems. I'd also mention the changes in backroom staff, eg. Doctor. I hope money is spent in this because we will need people who know what they are doing. McGregor Souttar Helander Jack Davis Arfield Ofoborh Roofe I think the optics of resigning a 40 year old keeper who is extremely suspect at set-plays and isn't going to get any better whilst apparently letting go a promising 24 year old because of this doesn't make much sense.1 point

The 'high flying' provincial clubs care enough to have commissioned their own review on revenue raising (IIRC). However, when you have any opposition divided into sub groups. It is easier for the SPFL executive to avoid a meaningful collective scrutiny. People baulk at bridge building but not doing so has consequences.1 point
