  1. That strategy didn't work last season and could be argued is the reason we lost SG and his management team. It's a huge gamble and costly if it doesn't work. We need to get better quality and need to sign "starters" rather than squad fillers.

  2. Ian McCall Tells it as it is. Today, the Maryhill Magyars Manager, Ian McCall appeared on Off the Ball with RAB and Tam and slaughtered the Chairman of the SPFL, Murdoch MacLennan. Of course, that robust organ, Private Eye refer to big, BIG Sellik man, MacLennan as, "Shifty McGifty". In a discussion on this week's Court decision to clear Rangers and Club Chairman, Douglas Park's decision NOT to support the SPFL's sponsorship deal with Cinch, Ian McCall stated, "Murdoch MacLennan is bloody useless". Hurrah for the Partick Thistle in stating the bleeding obvious. I toasted the bleeding obvious, sitting here in the Portuguese hilltop town of Tavira. I am near the villa shared by Nicola and Peter(guardian of the ring fenced £620,000) and thought it suitable to enjoy a lunch time Salad Nicoise accompanied by a bottle of Portuguese Rose. Light wine to be sure but dominated by sharp cranberry and crisp apple that poke at the palate. I am sure Peter Murrell is no stranger to that early morning feeling of a tumescent Nicola pressing against his rear? Putting the Vinha Grand Rose down, I remembered RAB Cosgrove telling us all at the height of Rangers demise a decade past, he was often given a Chauffeured lift by Murdoch MacLennan over a three year period whilst both worked in the same London building. I thought he would put meat to the Ian McCall bones, why is Murdoch MacLennan, "bloody useless"? To no avail, RAB held his discipline in the same way he has held on to his two East End flats. It is difficult for RAB, having to grapple with his property portfolio and one of Scottish football's most annoying prigs at the same time. "Bloody useless" is a term easily applied to Glasgow City Council Policy Advisor, BIG Sellik man and, "good friend of the show", Gerry Braiden. I thought the man from West Belfast would expand upon Scottish and Irish Nationalist, Martin Compton chorusing beautiful Sunday morning eulogies for the IRA? In his home town of Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, Martin took to the stage at the gathering of Sellik supporters clubs in North America to punch the air and extort his fellow Yahoos to continue to support the organisation that detonated the 1993 Warrington bomb without warning. Two children murdered, what is Gerry's policy advice? I suspect Gerry advises Martin to lay up at RAB's safe house in Sri Lanka, a villa with infinity pool. Martin, Peter Murrell and, £620,000 of ring fenced dosh on the inside. Outside, the Army are on the streets amid a state of emergency and, Martin from Las Vegas, Gourock, Turf Lodge, ................... will feel right at home. It's his mindset.

  3. Not knowing your exact transfer budget until after CL qualifiers will tend to have repercussions. That is why winning the league last season was such a big deal. Recruitment is crucial and will be a huge factor in how our season will go. I don't think it a good idea to try and go with most of what we already have, letting several run down their contracts. Freshen up (not wholesale) before it goes stale.

  4. Unpleasant news for Peter. He seems to have agreed to part ways with Danish side Fremad Amager, after one season in management. The season appeared to have been a rough one. The player's life is brutal, however the life of a manager can be tenfold. I had hope for greater success for Peter as I am a big fan. A bit of me hoped that he could possibly come home to manage our team in some capacity. Peter was one of the first faces I came to love supporting Rangers. Always a faithful servant to the club I had high hopes for him as he left the club. “It was a very satisfying end to the season. After much and careful consideration and talking it through with my family and the club, I have decided to leave the club and pass the baton on to someone else to lead the club next season and in to a new chapter." https://www.rangersnews.uk/news/rangers-hero-quits-job-after-extremely-challenging-season-in-homeland/ Whatever his decision, hopefully he finds continued success in his life. I will always be a fan. "He Always Scores Against Celtic!"

  5. Ya think? GVB is why we got to that final...with no striker. Once again...with no striker. Old boy can manage his ass off. He has more than earned his right to put a mark on this team. If he pulls off some otherworldly shtuff like that next season...he is gone. He will get snapped up quicker than twinkie at fat camp. Hell yeah...give that dude some talent!

  6. Don’t forget, it’s Scottish courts we’re talking about here. Everything else is corrupt and useless in Sturgeon’s land, why should the courts be any different?

  7. He should be with us for another season at least, unless we bring in someone better I don't see the logic in letting him go?.

  8. Sorry to see big Leon leave. One of the good guys. I really hope he does well wherever he lands.

  9. I notice Porto have made/are making a couple of big sales. I wonder if they will come in. They had reported interest last summer.

  10. The entire Celtic tribe learned long ago that barefaced denial and a captive media is always an effective defence.

  11. Not a household name, but Fremad Amager played their one and only ever European tie in a competition that Rangers were the holders, the ECWC of 72/73. We were unable to defend the trophy for well documented reasons. Hibs did play in it and reached the quarters and had players who scored hat-tricks in all three rounds played. Including in a 6-1 victory at Easter Road against Sporting Lisbon. The days Scottish provincial sides were relatively decent. In 1972, Scottish clubs were top performers in European co-efficient terms (numero uno). https://kassiesa.net/uefa/data/method1/ccoef1972.html Still on 72/73, the then high flying Leeds Utd struggled to beat the Turks, Ankaragucu by a single goal in the same competition. The following season on our return, we got Ankaragucu in the first round and hammered them 6-0 on aggregate. In the same round Borussia MG of Netzer and Heynckes score 16 and would go on to beat us in the second round. Peter Lovenkrands scored the goal against Inter Milan to take us to the KO stages of the CL. IIRC he went on a prolific scoring run around about that time which were the last 6 months of his contract. He would go on to score in both legs in the last 16 tie against Villareal, a team we have drawn against in each of the 4 times we have played them.

  12. Thers is also the possibility that we are holding off and going with what we have in the CL qualifiers and if we progress then we have funds to possibly bring in better quality of player.

  13. I think one or two big players will be sold and GvB will bring in three or four. I'm not expecting anything particularly mind-blowing but do think there will be changes that make a difference. We lost the league, so changes have to be made.

  14. The situation we are in at the moment is we have several players entering the final year of their contracts. These players can be split into 2 groups. The first group consists of players we may wish to keep longer term & try to get them to extend their contracts. The likes of Aribo, Kent & Morelos are in this group. The second group consists of players whom we may not wish to extend their contracts for whatever reason such as constantly being injured. The likes of Helander & Ryan Jack are in this group. These players simply do not play enough games & we may wish to move them on if possible. Until this situation becomes clearer I don’t see us making many moves in the transfer market

  15. What that amounts to is "I don't know what our financial position is or how much we can or can't invest in recruitment". It really isn't such a big deal to just wait quietly until the window ends and then we'll see what has actually happened.

  17. Quite. We had better get confident in these fixtures because I think that Celtic already are.

  18. Brutal statement from Park's of Hamilton about the Cinch deal and court process They are taking no prisoners here. Statement from Parks of Hamilton Ltd A spokesperson for Parks of Hamilton Ltd said: “We were not surprised to learn from the media announcement last night that the SPFL have finally acknowledged Rangers legitimately engaged rule i7 in June of last year and thus, vindicated the stance held by the club for over a year. It is not for us to speculate as to why the SPFL leadership sought to ignore their own rules for so long. “The fact that the SPFL prevaricated and continued to stall an arbitration process they themselves initiated in August last year, and which was ruled upon by the court of appeal in October, underlined the weakness of the case they truly had. Were it not for our interim interdict, it is clear their strategy was to try and bully one of their members and shareholders; a strategy which they have employed on numerous occasions. “Throughout the last year, Park’s have kept their counsel as the SPFL leadership insulted us and misled the SFA, their member clubs, their title sponsor, and various other stakeholders in Scottish football. “We have a long standing and proud association with Scottish football, and it was entirely wrong that we were compelled to take the SFA to court because the SPFL decided to abuse the SFA’s arbitration process. We believe that the SPFL and members of its leadership have brought the game in to disrepute and have failed, as have the SPFL as an organisation, to act with the utmost good faith towards their members. “The SFA must carry out an independent investigation into this issue which has cost all parties involved hundreds of thousands of pounds. Despite being awarded expenses in court, Park’s will not recover all their legal fees nor be compensated for the reputational damage caused by the SPFL. “Finally, the glaring omission from the SPFL’s statement was an apology. The SPFL leadership owe their members an apology, they owe Park's an apology, they owe the SFA an apology and they also owe an apology to Rangers. Unfortunately, they seem to lack any accountability and would rather spend their members money than admit their failures.”

  19. They did the same with Sky to get them to agree to cut the season short year of COVID. As a result gave them a new 5 year deal at a heavily discounted rate. How these clowns get to run our game I have no idea.
