  1. Kamara started a bit slow but had an excellent second half and some excellent stuff at the goal.

  2. The Tom Tom Club. Oh the anguish! Yesterday, BBC Scotland's Chief Sports Writer, Tom English Tweeted, "The BBC has asked me to delete a tweet I posted at the weekend about Celtic's statement on Shane Warne, as it did not meet Editorial standards". Tom had found Celtic's comment on the death of the Australian international Cricketer to be akin to ambulance chasing. FC Separate Entity saw an opportunity to tie in and reinforce their new found love of all things Australian. They posted a photograph of Shane Warne sporting a training top with Club sponsors, 'Dafabet' - the online gambling company prominently displayed across his chest. Underneath the photo it read, "Everyone at Celtic FC is saddened to hear of the death of Australian Cricket legend, Shane Warne. The thoughts and prayers are with Shane's family at this extremely sad time". Now, as Rangers supporters we know Tom's Twitter account is a personal account and NOT BBC Scotland's responsibility because that is what we are told when we complain about some of his comments on the means. It's the very same with Chris McLaughlin et al. Why has BBC Scotland changed their practice? The Chief Sports Writer's response to Celtic's opportunism was, "Shoehorning in a promotion for the Club's sponsor? This is so crass". Of course, Celtic could have utilised any one of 100,000 stock photographs of Shane Warne in his international pomp. Shane's career spanned 24 years, his international period lasted 15 years, he never wore a Dafabet top whilst playing. Anyways, the Yahoos bombarded Tom with every complaint apart from the usual anti-Irish one. They got on to his employer, BBC Scotland and demanded an apology. Pacific Quay did not do their habitual thing ie Tom's Twitter is a personal account and not our responsibility, no they turned 180 degrees and told Tom to delete the Tweet. Tom became most compliant and did as he was ordered to do, he deleted his Tweet. These last five years, BBC Scotland has justified it's continuing stance on delivering a lesser service to BBC License Fee paying Rangers supporters upon the principle of, 'Journalistic Freedom'. I would have expected a host of senior, experienced Journos at PQ to be publicly pleading with Tom to adhere to those principles of journalistic freedom? Nah, they are all searching the building for Editorial Standards.

  8. A BIG FOKKER. This thread is now running into for a fifth year and it's time to remember as Rangers supporters we pay our license fees to receive a service from BBC Scotland. A Europa League tie between Borussia Dortmund and Rangers is big news for Scottish football. Two games home and away and BBC Scotland's Sports News Correspondent, Chris McLaughlin and BBC Scotland's Chief Football Writer, Tom English have collectively written not a word. Comparatively little has been broadcast either. Both games coincided with Sellik's entry into the European Conference League, two games home and away against Norwegians, Bodo Glimp received live commentary from Liam McLeod with Pat Bonner and James McFadden adding colour. BBC Radio Scotland was, "right across events at the Rangers games' ie Richard Gordon and Richard Foster view a monitor in a studio and make occasional comments. Borussia Dortmund were favourites for the Europa League, they sit second in the Bundesliga and, they travel everywhere in their own liveried Airbus aeroplane. From memory, Rangers have faced Borussia in European competition on four previous occasions and only lost the one tie. Sellik were bullish on the Conference tie, they were in it to win it, going all the way. Bodo were from inside the Arctic Circle, a town's population ten thousand less than the Stade de Gadd's capacity. The first games were played, Rangers kicked-off early in Germany and the 2-4 victory was quickly dismissed in favour of live commentary under the disco lights at Sellik Park. After a 1-3 defeat, BBC Radio Scotland was off air at ten O'Clock. The next day and the day after was radio silence, no mention on BBC Scotland TV either. Saturday had a full list of fixtures but again no mention. Sunday saw Rangers visit Tannadice and PQ spirits picked up. A 1-1 draw had United's centre back, Ross Graham eulogised and his partner, Charlie Mulgrew lionised for telling BBC Scotland's interviewer that Rangers penalty claims were, "made up". Sellik defeated bottom of the table, Dundee 3-2 at Parkhead and the Dee's penalty claim in the last minute was not discussed. Monday's TV news carried footage of both games with the strap line, "Celtic move further ahead". Thursday saw a reversal, ra Sellik live commentary up first. PQ's favourites fielded a weakened team and McLeod, Bonner and, McFadden lauded Ange's expediency for prioritising the league over Europe. Whatever happened to in it to win it? Sellik were out of Europe for the third time in one season having been vanquished 5-1 on aggregate. Across events at Ibrox was up next and Richard Gordon groaned at the penalty award. Half-time was quite perky, Dortmund were leading 1-2. BIG Dick was happier when McFadden said, "Dortmund have got the second, it will be whatever they want it to be". It took thirty seconds for Big Dick to announce the equaliser, stuttering whilst viewing, hoping for an offside. The game finished 6-4 on aggregate to Rangers at 21.53hrs, BBC Radio Scotland's football coverage was finished at one minute to ten. BBC Scotland's news the next day(Friday) did show the Rangers goals and told the result but no discussion. The draw against Red Star was reported but no discussion. It is Saturday and BBC Radio Scotland have Off the Ball with RAB and Cowan opining the money spent by traveling Yahoos to visit the Arctic Circle, only to be confronted by a reserve team. Cowan praised the atmosphere at Ibrox and congratulated Rangers on the result. RAB Cosgrove stated, "Yep" and they moved on. There is another BBC Scotland production on football, 'A View from the Terrace'. It is a one hour show with an eclectic take. I like it, the Host, Craig Telfer is a Stenhousemuir fan, the panelists are taken from a grouping including Craig Fowler(Jambo), Joel Sked(Jambo), Robert Borthwick(Jambo), Shaughan McGuigan(Raith Rovers), Robert Thewliss(Well), ....... The Producer is David Harron(Jambo). Promoting Scottish football is the show's raison d'etre, at all levels. Two shows straddling the tie and they don not mention the games, we would not know the tie took place. They did mention Bodo Glimt and they spent several minutes continuing the lionisation of Charlie Mulgrew and Dundee United's, "Dee-lightful defending against Rangers". As stated, the tie was a BIG FOKKER for Scottish football and for PQ to arrive eventually at a passive state at best will be remembered. A View from the Terrace to entirely ignore the tie is as a result of pressure from Production. These several paragraphs are a record proving posterity will not be kind to BBC Scotland.

  11. I don't think we give up on players at all. We merely react to what they do on the field of play.

  12. Last two transfer windows have been underwhelming and fear summer will also be tough if we don't win the league.

  13. Kamara is one of my favourite players, and I was saying we should sell him last season/this summer. But, Noooooo... 'he's one of our best players, we cannae sell him!'

  14. I think in a wider scope that is fine. He got MOTM at the game on Saturday and I thought he played well second half. He is being asked to do different things under Gio and we may well not have won our last two games without his goal and assist. Anyway it's an opinions thread. mine is no more valid than any other.

  16. He doesn't have his own players. Frankly he was let down in Jan by the board. Worrying signs for sure but far to early to be sure of anything.

  20. Both Diallo and Ramsay might still come good, certainly a fit Ramsay would bring something to the side, even if he was only available for our final 6 matches that might be enough. I doubt we'd have signed both without GvB giving his approval albeit they might not have been his first choices. I've seen us lose 3-0 at Fir Park to a mid-table Motherwell and nearly blow the title completely. Souness hadn't long left and it looked like his assistant, Walter Smith, might not be up to the job. It went to the final day, we had to win against Aberdeen, they just needed a draw to be Champions. The rest is history. It's going to be a nervy season finale, but sometimes they're the most memorable.

  21. BIG Dick is Pig Sick. Saturday was the usual, Big Dick hosted, 'Open All Mikes'. Thus, all Premiership and Championship grounds hosting a fixture had a BBC Scotland reporter with an open microphone providing; a match preview, team news, score flashes, updates, a half-time report and, a full time report. All grounds except one, Ibrox. The vast majority continue to pay their BBC License Fees and receive a lesser service. It amounts to whoever is het, sat on the naughty step watching the live TV feed. Big Dick announces, 'Whoever will be right across all events at Ibrox'. In reality, we receive team news, a thirty second half-time report and, a similar timed full time report. On Saturday, it was Rory Somebody. Of course, the PQ Dandies were all glued to the TV feed, including Big Dick. The half-time report was a dirge from Rory, Aberdeen were defending stoutly, Rangers were huffing and puffing. Full time was all about the goal, Rory thought two things; Bassey had perpetrated a clear foul on Aberdeen player, Calvin Ramsey and, there was a question of offside. Big Dick then does a run down of results and throws in a bit of colour, ie scorers, club position in the league as a result, incidents to look out for on Sportscene. Big Dick decided John Beaton was the fulcrum, "Rangers supporters will be unused to some of his decisions today" and, Aberdeen will certainly have a couple of questions over Roofe's goal". Big Dick then got quite hissy over Alan Preston's quip about Aberdeen retaining tenth position in the Premiership. Big Dick's favourites last visit to Ibrox saw Big Dick take to his Aberdeen Press and Journal column to castigate John Beaton for awarding Rangers a penalty when Don, David Bates grabbed Sakala's jersey and pull him to the ground. Like his team, Big Dick only spits venom on three or four occasions per season. Sportscene proved Jonathon Sutherland does the same. He is another Dandy host determined to frame discussion on shown highlights in a Northern Light. He echoed Big Dick and Rory by introducing two questions, the foul and possible offside? Both questions were quickly dismissed by the panel. It's a determined effort, Jim Goodwin continues to shout offside and Bates is in today's newspapers proclaiming, "you don't get the big decisions at Ibrox". Is this all to mask Aberdeen are tenth in the table and Scott Brown is in a huff and wanting to leave Pittodrie? Maybe Big Dick will tell all in this week's P and J column? Oh, and while his snout is in the game changing trough, he might want to comment on Assistant Referee, Frank Connor's contribution last week at Ibrox(two flags for Morelos) and yesterday at Livingston(awarding a corner when Ralston handled the ball over the line for a bye-kick)?

  22. @26th of foot I thank you once again for another informative post. I most certainly wouldn't want to discourage you from posting and really, no one knows whether things will change in another 5 years or not. The point is the BBC is a public funded organisation that should be held to account. This thread, now contains a wealth of factual information to the blatant inequality in sports reporting between Rangers and the rest of the SPFL. I for one applaud for your tenacity, fortitude and excellent good humour in continuing to update those Gersnet members like myself who are interested in the machinations of the PQ inner sanctum. Keep up the great work!👏 PS Just for the record, I think I and most others on here, have got the (repeated) message about the "quick fix" solution of not paying the licence fee. Thank you. But, for some, it runs a bit deeper than that.

  23. Half a dozen times a month, I help out my Nephew and his partner by taking their 4 year old daughter to Nursery. I love her but she can be a bit of a Madam. I was listening to BBC Radio Scotland's Sports Desk this morning and the first thing that struck me was, 'the line' has NOT been established. I was getting her out the car seat when the second Sports Desk began and the semblance of, 'the line' appeared, "of course Borussia Dortmund are not the team they once were". I missed who said it and a crisis had arisen with the merits of melon over chocolate buttons to get one through a day at Nursery. BBC Scotland are always moaning about folks not taking every opportunity to talk up the Scottish game, but Rangers winning away in Dortmund needs serious time(is there enough time) to find any degree of comfort. Anyways, 'the line' will be found. I await long time Journo, Hugh MacDonald's take - he and family are long term Borussia Dortmund supporters, regular attendees at the Westfalenstadion these last dozen years. Reference the Curling at the Winter Olympics, RAB Cosgrove was spitting venom at the weekend. He noted all Curlers attending are Scots, why are the not representing Scotland? It's like Rangers, fellow countrymen and women performing well but not worthy of support because of the colours being worn.
