  1. I presume you’re referring to paying hertz 500k for Souttar in January ? I think hertz wanted sell-on clauses added in & we wouldn’t agree to that. So we wait til end of season to get him. Regards the January transfer window has Ross Wilson questions to answer?

  2. I'll reserve judgement until he's had his own players as opposed to the ones he's inherited from a previous manager.

  3. For what it's worth i thought Borna had a decent 60mins or so today.

  4. Yes, i was referring to Souttar (sorry I mentioned sheep). I don't think we know the specifics, but I'm sure we could have got him without any sell-on clauses, but in offering less I think they wanted to recoup in another way. Regarding Wilson, maybe he does have to be challenged, but surely the manager has the final decision? if not, the relationship between Gio and Ross could well end badly. IF we don't see Ramsey make a signifcant impact before the end of the season, someone's head needs to roll. We do not have 2million to flush down the drain ffs!

  5. You have a point, but SG is gone. Gio had a window to bring in one if not two players to freshen up the starting 11. 2million was punted on Ramsey, I assume Gio agree to that? He could have decided pay the sheep 500k and shore up our defence instead and saved the board 1.5milion. The Jan window was a golden opportunity and a critical one to strengthen and stay ahead of them in the race, we failed miserably and I think if Gio is a strong manager with the right influence, that's on him.

  6. Would you agree Bill that Gerrard made some poor signings towards the end of his time at Rangers ? And GVB somehow needs to replace these players ? which he (or someone else) will need time to do.

  7. There are players who on their day are world beaters but they lack consistency and that is why we can afford them.

  8. Castore have released another shirt (it's blue) for the Legends match. They don't half keep churning out new items.

  9. Like most on here I think the jury is still out and may be out for a while yet GVB has inherited a number of players from SG whom he clearly doesn’t want. Some because he doesn’t rate them & others for different reasons i.e constantly injured or past their best. So we’d need to wait until he gets his own players in til we judge him properly although there must be concern after the January transfer window in which 4 new players arrived & can’t get a game I also think he’s wrong to keep playing McGregor who’s past his best & could cost us silverware

  10. I don't understand this stuff about the jury still being out on GvB. Is no one watching our games any more? Because it's all there to see every time we take the field. For me, it's one thing trying something out and assessing the value of it but when you keep on doing something that is repeatedly failing then that's rings a huge warning bell. Who here would have left Helander and Balogun on the bench in order to play our best left back in central defence? Or persisted with a keeper who won't command his area and whose distribution is awful? How many times do you have to see these decisions before the jury comes back in. Why would you allow someone to bring in his own players unless you trust his decision making. I hope to hell I'm wrong but from what I've seen I just don't think GvB is the man to drive us forward to the CL treasure we so badly need and we will pay a heavy price for his intransigence.

  11. That pretty much sums it up for me. The McGregor thing is such an obvious decision he seems to have bottled out of which could continue to cost us. On the flip side, you have to consider that the team has needed an injection of serious quality to it for a couple of seasons now which just hasn't happened. Putting last season to one side, we started this year with issues on the pitch which SG didn't seem to know how to fix and it turned in to a "greatest hits" of his reign - we seemed out of ideas; vulnerable to long balls & set pieces; inability to break down stuffy defences etc. Since Gio has come in, even with his tactical tweaks, I just get this feeling of Groundhog Day. I guess its going to go one of two ways. If we lose the league, having effectively thrown it away due to results against teams other than Celtic, do we trust Gio to be the man to turn it around next season - given the squad is going to need a lot of work in the summer. If we win the league, whilst not exactly doing it in style, do we trust Gio to be the man to strengthen us next season and make the tough decisions when it comes to a few players who I think should be let go? I'm not convinced he's the right guy in either scenario tbh, because he seems to be struggling to fix the issues which have been here all season.

  12. When he came in I thought he was the man for the job, but now I have my doubts. It looks like he does not have it in him to make the big decisions e.g. McGregor as Bluedell had already said.

  13. I have some doubts but think it is far too early to judge him. It is obvious he is getting more out of some of the players since he came. We've also had some injuries to key players, covid issues and disappointing officiating. I think he needs at least one transfer window to see what he can do. Some of our key players are not doing it at the moment, especially Kent and Aribo. We look very average because of that. Playing so many games is having an effect too. You can see some of the players are toiling which makes the lack of subs all the more mystifying. It isn't the managers fault that we have not strengthened in the transfer window and will probably have a very limited budget next year because our stars have failed to shine and won't be worth much to us. However, the tactics, team selections and in game changes are down to him and his team and there are definite question marks about those.

  14. Brought in after SG's departure as the best option, did we have any others?. If players can rise to Europe why not league, suppose the answer to that is clear we don't have to get round parked buses in the former. Okay we won 55 last season but I noticed as season went on more and more teams played "parked bus" style and into this season where it is now a game on game situation. We seem not to have the personnel to rectify this and will surely have to do so in next transfer window so in the meantime we have to hope the players themselves will solve things on field.

  15. The answer will be known by 3rd April, so not long to wait to find out. Win every league game between now and then (only 3 I think!) progress in the Scottish Cup, and reach QF of Europa and all is good. Don’t need to spell out what anything less (certainly domestically) will mean.

  16. We should have registered it as the 3rd kit of the season, instead of that eye-cancer-inducing one. 😝

  17. So did I but I think Gio’s trying to get the CB’s returning from injury ( Balogen & Helander) game time for the run-in

  18. Was there any word as to why Balogun and Helander were on the bench today? I think we look much better with two natural CBs and Bassey at LB.

  19. Not forgetting Borna Barisic, that master of the touchline "receive-stop-turn-backpass" routine. I'm all for retaining possession but there comes a point where at least some effort needs to be expended in the general direction of the opponent's goal.
