Genius from Gio. Lull them into a false sense of security with 80 minutes of frustrating crap and then surprise everyone by making sensible substitutions and taking the points. I don't expect every game to be easy but this struggle was guaranteed as soon as he made that ridiculous starting team selection.5 points

Bit of a slog but glad to get a vital 1-0 in the end. Did McGregor have a save to make all game ? And of course, as now expected,Beaton was at his awful worst today, missing fouls & handballs all game. Good to see the manager make necessary substitutions in the second half & it paid off although I think Lundstrum should be a starter. on the downside can we do anything about our corner kicks? they are mostly garbage. Can we not in swing them like most teams do ? When tav took them first half down his side he out swung them to the penalty spot & they were easily cleared. Why not tav swing them in from left side & Barasic (or bassey) swing them in on the right side4 points

Agree with Rangersrab about our corner kicks. Counted 6 out swingers in the first half that we never once looked like scoring from. Second half after Borna was taken off Tav,'s first in swinger from the left had them scambling. Corner should = in swinger all day long. Thought the roof was gonna lift off all 4 stands when the goal went....brilliant and great seeing most fans stay to the end.3 points

Said to my sons on Wednesday Id take 9 more 1-0s and I stand by that but by God we are not easy on the eye. Bit better in 2nd half and Aberdeen are woeful, hopefully relegation beckons for the rancid club and it's rancid fans.3 points

That's at least 3 times now barasic has been hooked at half time for balagun to go to centre half and bassey goes to left back . Kamara other than the goal was a headless chicken with no 8nput to the game. Unfortunately he will now start midweek which is the last thing we need. Aribo too worse than a man down admitting hes off form. I'm not impressed by Gvb. Our league form has been pretty dross under him and I'll be surprised if we win the league. He really needs to stop fucking with the defence.3 points

For what it's worth i thought Borna had a decent 60mins or so today.2 points

Tav's set pieces seem to be good in phases. He's going through a bad phase at the moment, so surely players like Barisic, Aribo and Kent can have a go!? If someone takes 5 or 6 crap corners on the trot, someone else should get a shot.2 points

Not forgetting Borna Barisic, that master of the touchline "receive-stop-turn-backpass" routine. I'm all for retaining possession but there comes a point where at least some effort needs to be expended in the general direction of the opponent's goal.2 points

It might surprise some but I enjoyed this match. The first half was not great but the second half was an improvement. Everybody was too tense until the goal. One real disappointment was hearing people boo when Morelos was substituted for Roofe.2 points

Got to admit game played by the sheep totally as expected and performance from Beaton his usual crap. Still left game a happy fan as we got what mattered 3points.2 points

I gave up when I saw the team selection. Pathetic from our manager. We're not winning the title if this is what GvB thinks is what it takes. So very disappointed2 points
-
He might think that but it wouldn't be much of a manager who effectively throws in the towel without at least trying other things. We don't need an expensive management team to continue doing things that generally fail. You and I could take week-about to do that ourselves. Besides, that would be a tough call when he's got essentially the squad that ran away with the league last season, so there's really no credible argument that he doesn't have the players.2 points

Was there any word as to why Balogun and Helander were on the bench today? I think we look much better with two natural CBs and Bassey at LB.1 point

So our "one off" 150 white kit tossed in bin pre-match as we had forgotten to apply for permission to wear it - that's up there with Australia Friendly - heads rolling on Monday?1 point

Have to remember most corners are taken by "ma baw" Tavernier.1 point

I don't understand why we don't at least try a 3-5-2 in games like this? Lundstrum can play as sweeper and Tav and Bassey can do their best work in their half. I also don't like Kent being stuck on a wing. He's got talent enough to play inside more IMO as opposed to hugging a touchline all day. --------Macgregor-------- ---Goldson-----Balogun--- --------Lundstrum-------- Tav-----------------Bassey ------------Jack------------ ----Arfield----------Kent--- -------Roofe----Alfie------- That leaves a diamond in the midfield and rotating up front options. Our play is so predictable IMO1 point

I don't know why we bother with corners at all. We never look like getting anything from them and for the majority we never even challenged for ball. Just for a change I'd like to see us hoofing corner kicks in the opposite direction, into the stands. It would be far less disappointing.1 point

Stats show Aberdeen had 1 shot on goal (off target). We had 20 shots, 2 on target - maybe some shooting practice required.1 point

I was wondering earlier if there would be a way to cancel the contract given Celtic clearly leaked the announcement as it suited them.1 point

Currently on holiday in Canaries so missed the game live but watched on RTV. It was brutal to watch, a continuation of the last 80 mins on Wednesday but two 1-0 wins are gladly accepted. 8 more and we will be champions. Glad to see some (if still confusing) use of subs. I hope Roofe can stay fit for run-in, he does pinch goals that don’t look like coming sometimes. I must be in minority but I thought all that display stuff pre-match was utter pish, glad I never wasted any cash on that. These things always seem to take away from game in hand and so it showed again with a lacklustre start to the game. Like title flag days, the game is overshadowed and is usually a very dull affair. Back to Europe now with the visit of Red Star Belgrade on Thursday. Hopefully the same Rangers that played Dortmund shows up again!1 point

Aberdeen have been rank for weeks, even with Brown. We once more put out a team that has effectively one striker, another sent to the wing and lots of working/passing people with no end product. For weeks Aribo and Kamara have been back to the short-pass, needless pass, back-pass routine in midfield that will have greatly improved our completed-passes column, but the area where we needed people most, i.e. the finishing one, has been left unpopulated. I`ll - on hindsight - gave it to Gio that Perth was a dire game to play and one to win ugly. Today, there was all to play for, with the crowd behind from the off and Aberdeen not really the power of old. Yet we gave them everything they needed to play us rather them the other way round. Start to the second half was better, but after 20 mins we toiled on again. Sakala got some flak from the commentators, but Aribo and Kent produced next to nothing either ... Morelos went to the wing and flanked a fine ball ... and no-one of our supposed attacking midfield was there or arriving late. But that`s not something new and we saw it time and again under SG. if that`s modern football, I want a stone-aged 4-4-2 back.1 point

Worth remembering Aberdeen are 10th(?) in the SPL and not won away from home in 18 games.1 point

As an aside, Itten is turning out for our B Team today. Seems a fantastic decision to end his loan spell.1 point

First, I hope we give our founding fathers a fine salute by horsing the Dons 5-0 and send Brown home weeping. Second ... WTF. Bassey back as CH ahead of Balogun and Helander? We could have 5 subs in case of someone pulling up, yet we slot our brightest attacking spark on the left in recent weeks back into the defence? And Lundstram, who stood in as DM/CH all the while on the bench ahead of Kamara? Maybe Glen is earmarked for another 5 mins attacking role, but honestly, WTF? Good to see Sakala back. Just in case, got myself half a handful of Braeburn apples, so the fingernails get some respite in the later stages. (NB: I`ll eat them even if we win 5-0 ... vitamines and all.)1 point

So last week there was no timeline for Ramsey to bet fit (I'm guessing it was a small niggling injury, although I don't think it was made clear), suddenly he's in the squad. Now, if it is match fitness we're talking about then he needs to start rather than get 2 minutes at the end of the game. I'm really struggling to understand this signing, his fitness etc. Maybe Gio just doesn't fancy him. Either way, time is running out to get him up to speed and be able to influence games. He's got the ability, I would just get him involved now and see where it goes. But what do I know. Frustrating to be honest. I won't even bother ranting about Barisic's inclusion today. I really hope Gio has a plan.1 point

I suspect we will struggle today. Barasic selection along with kamara is unbelievable. The biggest liabilities in the side.1 point

Seems to me we can debate it until the cows come home. Some of us will be right, some will be wrong but what is undeniable is that our coaching staff are struggling to get anything like the best out of our squad. Whatever anyone thinks of the recent transfer window, the players we have now are the only ones available and it is absolutely the manager's job to deliver the best possible results they are capable of achieving. We can't improve things by changing the squad, our only options with respect to players is to change the team selection. So the only questions worth asking are these ..... are these players achieving to their potential and is the manager doing all that could be done to maximise results on the park in terms of preparation, motivation, tactics and selection? And if not, why not and what can be done about it?1 point

King is just shit stirring. He's upset that he's not been able to sell his shares. What's his number one complaint? The treatment of C1872! That shows where his priorities lie. He's also got a cheek to complain about personal agendas. He had numerous over the years that damaged the club.1 point
