Agree with most that Bassey, Jack, Lundstrum, Kent & Alfie were the best. Although it is hard to separate I've gone a little left field and gone for Bassey. My heart sank a little when I seen the line up, would probably have gone for Sands tbh! but I don't pick the team and quickly understood why he was picked. His pace as we pressed high was invaluable when we lost possession and more than once he matched their runners and snuffed them out. I just think this young guy has grown immensely in the squad. It is only a year ago he could well have been finished at Rangers after being part of the "Covid 6" fiasco. He has bounced back and grabbed his chance. He is still learning, prone to errors of judgement for sure but his performance last night was beyond his years and doubly so as he admits himself he is a LB before CB. Like everyone wearing the shirt last night he gave his all. Well played Calvin!4 points

VAR involves an official. The penalty was an understandable error but the fourth goal - what was the linesman thinking!?4 points

Centre circle was KT's turf and everyone knew it. It annoyed me for years seeing Brown stroll through our midfield untouched during old firm games. Something Ferguson or KT would not tolerate under any circumstances. Jack was a Rangers man last night. He had every right to wear that jersey and play at that level and knew it. Its pride inducing stuff seeing a player swagger like that in a Rangers shirt.3 points

Half a dozen times a month, I help out my Nephew and his partner by taking their 4 year old daughter to Nursery. I love her but she can be a bit of a Madam. I was listening to BBC Radio Scotland's Sports Desk this morning and the first thing that struck me was, 'the line' has NOT been established. I was getting her out the car seat when the second Sports Desk began and the semblance of, 'the line' appeared, "of course Borussia Dortmund are not the team they once were". I missed who said it and a crisis had arisen with the merits of melon over chocolate buttons to get one through a day at Nursery. BBC Scotland are always moaning about folks not taking every opportunity to talk up the Scottish game, but Rangers winning away in Dortmund needs serious time(is there enough time) to find any degree of comfort. Anyways, 'the line' will be found. I await long time Journo, Hugh MacDonald's take - he and family are long term Borussia Dortmund supporters, regular attendees at the Westfalenstadion these last dozen years. Reference the Curling at the Winter Olympics, RAB Cosgrove was spitting venom at the weekend. He noted all Curlers attending are Scots, why are the not representing Scotland? It's like Rangers, fellow countrymen and women performing well but not worthy of support because of the colours being worn.3 points

No mention of football on the 7.25am BBC GMS sports bulletin. Just five mins on curling... It never happened.3 points

Thank god for VAR that would have been a travesty if left up to the officials.3 points

Games like that make the world shine brighter. I think Jack and Lundstram transform our midfield and are clearly our best pairing. Jack's return in particular has been a revelation. I expected him to take a while to find his form but it's as if he's never been away. I thought he was the best player on the field tonight. I was worried about Bassey in central defence but he was a lion and Ryan Kent answered every question asked of him. And brilliant to see young Sands continuing to justify the manager's confidence in him. Ibrox is going to be a very special place next week.3 points

Looks like you've already achieved it. Out of the relegation places already. @Rousseau will be bricking it if you keep this up.😁2 points

Glad you posted that mate and made that vote choice as Bassey was very, very good last night and really did his job well.2 points

Reflecting on what's happen since that debacle at Parkhead, do you think the Celtic game might yet be seen as exactly what we needed?2 points

Any other day I'd have voted for Ryan Kent but I can't ignore the midfield masterclass from Ryan Jack, the best I've seen in years. How the hell did we win 55 without him? It's doubtful if Jack and Lundstram would be playing together if GvB hadn't arrived so credit to the manager for seeing it. Does anyone think John Lundstram fits into the way we play yet? I also echo Frankie's point about James Sands and as he settles in at Ibrox I'm beginning to think we might have unearthed a treasure there.2 points

The 4th was a joke absolutely nowhere near offside. We nearly had a fifth after that with Aribo Cant believe I'm saying that about Rangers playing in Dortmund2 points

I've went for Lundstram - I thought his workrate was exceptional and he scored a screamer. On a sidenote, that bit of defending by Ramsey at the end really summed the performance up.2 points

Absolutely delighted tonight. Can’t help thinking we’re very much stronger with both Jack & Lundstrum together central MF. And hasn’t young Bassey grown so much in stature. But credit must also go to our new manager & his back room staff. I thought we’d lost it a bit after Malmo with SG but Gio’s improved us bar one bad 45mins against the yahoos. Going to be a very interesting run in with them.Wonder if tonight will affect them ? Always thought after FC Copenhagen beat them at ra Stydome was the beginning of the end for Lennon. Hopefully same tonight for Ange no pro-licence. And bring on VAR. helped us twice tonight.2 points

Tonight, after Rangers 2-4 victory in Dortmund and ra Sellik's 1-3 collapse to Bodo Glimt the PQ Gang Hut has concluded : Borussia Dortmund are an excellent side but they are no Bobo Glimt. Seriously, is Bodo Glimt a character from the Hobbit?2 points

A fantastic team performance and I'd imagine there will be a variety of nominees. For me, Bassey, Jack, Lundstram, Kent and Morelos were the pick of the bunch and I am finding it really difficult to separate them. I think it has to be Jack though as he gives us that platform in midfield to get into games. We really have missed him.1 point

I think all Rangers supporters admire and appreciate Ryan Jack. The issue is his fitness. If he can stay fit, he'll be a hugely important player in the near future.1 point

Ryan Jack has galvanised the team on his return. I was never a fan of kamara davis and aribo the midfield and an glad gio has changed things around. Lundstram jack and arfield all complement each other and the rest of the team are benefiting from our more solid midfield. Fantastic to watch last night as was the result but I will say I thought Aribo looked a bit jaded and could do with a rest. We better be careful we dont run him into the ground.1 point
-
Bassey, Jack, Kent, Morelos. Take your pick. My vote goes to Kent for his harrying, defending when needed and most of all his skill in the lead up to the third goal.1 point
-
There were so many amazing performances last night and I can't disagree with anything I've read in this thread. In the end I chose Morelos. He is so important to us, not just for his goals. He never gave their defence a minutes peace and is a nightmare to play against. We don't have anyone remotely like him and will struggle to fill his very large boots.1 point

Borussia Dortmund 2-4 Rangers: How did the Scottish champions send shockwaves around Europe? By Nick McPheatBBC Scotland There were cool heads in the Rangers camp following their monumental victory at Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund, but nothing could dilute the significance of one of the club's greatest European performances. Captain James Tavernier was keen to temper expectations, stating the Ibrox side are "only halfway" to securing a Europa League last-16 place. He was fighting a losing battle in trying to bring a measure of perspective to a support wallowing in the euphoria of a result that ranks among Rangers' finest. Here, BBC Scotland looks at how Giovanni van Bronckhorst's men sent shockwaves around European football with a colossal 4-2 first-leg victory in Germany. Jack in the box It feels unfair to not kick this off by heaping praise on Rangers' scintillating frontline, but the performance of midfielder Ryan Jack was the catalyst for an outstanding display. Van Bronckhorst instructed his side to press high, forcing the Bundesliga hosts into errors, and it felt any time a Dortmund player had a moment to turn they were greeted by Jack springing on them. The 29-year-old won the ball back 10 times for his side, more than any team-mate, and provided a protective screen for the an impressive Rangers backline. The former Aberdeen captain also moved the ball with penetration and purpose, something the Rangers midfield has been badly lacking while Jack has been missing. The Scotland international completed his side's highest number of accurate passes (38), with 10 of them registered in the final third. For a player making just his second start after 12 months out injured, it was a remarkable display. It is now imperative Jack stays fit for Van Bronckhorst - and Scotland boss Steve Clarke. Revitalised Morelos spearheads attack Prior to Van Bronckhorst's arrival as manager, questions were raised about Alfredo Morelos' performance and fitness levels. The Colombia striker managed six goals in 19 games under Steven Gerrard earlier this term, but now looks reenergised and has netted 10 in 12 since the Dutchman took charge. The 25-year-old showed a poacher's instinct to notch Rangers' second, but his all-round play - so often overlooked - was vital. No Rangers player made more final-third passes than Morelos (14), who also won nine of his 18 duels - a complete striker's performance. Kent back to best Much like Morelos, Ryan Kent's 2021-22 output was a cause for concern for Van Bronckhorst. The former Liverpool winger, who scored 13 times last campaign, has just two this season. But Keant has shown on numerous occasions he is capable of turning it on in Europe, and was back to his best in an all-action display. The 25-year-old created more chances (three) than any other player, including a sublime assist for John Lundstram to fire Ranges 3-0 up, and also put in a tireless shift going in the other direction. The forward had a tackle success of 100% (four out of four) and gained possession for his side eight times. 'Outstanding performance against a European giant' - analysis Former Rangers striker Steven Thompson on BBC Sportsound Rangers from the very first minute looked confident. They didn't sit in and defend. There was a spell Dortmund had a lot of the ball, but Rangers dealt with them well. We knew Rangers would have to be at their best to get something and, to a man, they were incredible. It was an outstanding performance away from home against a European giant. They deserve all the plaudits they will get. Former Rangers right-back Richard Foster on BBC Sportsound Rangers pressed Dortmund and forced errors. Dortmund were very narrow, and so when Rangers spread the play the hosts couldn't deal with that energy and attacking intent. It took two quality goals to break Rangers down. In contrast, Rangers looked dangerous every time they went forward. They made Dortmund look average. They were hungrier, their composure, the goals they scored - it is probably the best Rangers performance I've seen in Europe. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/604253481 point

Was telling my son last night about how excited KT used to get about a drop ball. Was like a dog waiting for you to throw a ball. He just loved it.1 point

Jack is the textbook example of the expression " it's like signing an £8m player " when returning from injury. He showed he belongs on the same pitch as the Dortmund players. I'm developing the same sort of man crush on him as I had for K.T back in the day. He's a tiger.1 point

If you look it back, the goals we conceded came from defence "misshaps", even though both executions were great. In that respect, the introduction of Sands and Kamara seemed to have caused a little uncertainty regarding who guards whom and which area. Teams usually underestimate us and the threat that Kent, Aribo and Morelos pose. We`ve seen it before and will probably see it again. We`ve been totally solid from defence to midfield last night, with Jack and Lundstram immense. We sure need a similar performance from both departments next week, as Dortmund showed in short glimpses of what they can do and how they can play if you let them. They will still play more open than most teams we faced and I reckon that we'll see Sakala instead of Arfield at Ibrox, to torment them with his pace on the right side. Ibrox will be rocking (and they have a lot of kids in their side (Bellingham, Reyna, Moussaka (17)) et al)) and if we sneak the odd goal on the counter, we should be fine. For the time being, let`s reflect on the night when Rangers ruined Borussia`s 1,000th game at the Westfalen Stadion (sponsor-name-changed), the very ground "new" Ibrox was built after.1 point

Importantly Morelos is fit for Sunday - was a wee bit worried when he limped off last night.1 point

Yes. I think it was a wake-up call that we need to focus on each game and not be so passive at crucial times. The manager has taken the metaphorical handbrake off to some extent, we look so much better with the full backs getting into forward positions more often. And on top of that, we’ve got some crucial players returning to fitness. I’ve said to my mate that we need to keep the head and take each game as it comes. Much as they’ve had a good spell, Celtic have had all the marginal breaks in their favour since the turn of the year, and arguably in December with one or two late goals. To me, there’s a fragility to their squad’s fitness and confidence. It’s down to us to put in the performances we are capable of and put them under pressure.1 point

Dreamland in Deutschland! Had to take a few mins to compose myself (and pour another beer). Difficult to say just how incredible that performance and result is. To go to one of Germany's best teams and best them really is the stuff of our wildest dreams. From the very start we showed our intent with an ambitious line up and a press that caused some early problems. Dortmund came into it of course but we were worthy of our lead at half-time as we could easily have scored four in that opening period. The 2nd half started even better with a fantastic team goal and a top class finish from John Lundstram who was imperious alongside Ryan 'Fucking' Jack. Reaction to conceding a goal was good and it was just a pity we conceded after grabbing a 4th. But, what a lead to bring home. All in all, it was an incredible result in an amazing night in Germany. It's difficult to think of a better one in our long and successful history but there is a long, long way to go in this tie. I just suspect though that Ibrox will be bouncing this time next week. Yaaaas!1 point
