  1. The last ten years have brought both clarity and confusion. With respect to other clubs and the football authorities, there has been a universal and consistent expression of hatred towards Rangers. Whether this has its roots on jealousy or nationalism, there was no help or encouragement offered by anyone. While some actively sought the death of Rangers, everyone was content to stand back and enjoy the spectacle, like morbid onlookers at a public hanging. Now that we've made huge strides in our recovery the resentment is still tangible across Scottish football and I've yet to hear one word of remorse about the disgraceful feeding frenzy that took place in those early days. Anyone who once thought Rangers has friends in Scottish football has surely now had that notion removed once and for all. The confusion lies in the lack of clear information about how our destruction was orchestrated. Even now, after ten whole years and numerous arrests and court cases, we are no closer to knowing who pulled which strings. Everyone has a theory but it seems no one has the facts. Personally, while banks and HMRC provided the mechanisms, I look to far more prosaic motivations and have little doubt the whole affair has its roots firmly embedded in the bigotry of religion and nationalism - a poison that we know runs throughout all corners of Scottish society and beyond. What I can't tell is who planned and set it in motion but it has to have been people in a very elevated strata of power and influence. In any case, it's very disappointing that so little has ever emerged to allow a finger to be pointed with confidence.

  2. Having been one of the few fans who seen right through SDM, it was a time / day that knew was coming. The aftermath was as vile as it was predictable from Scottish Football and authority. Still angry as it was avoidable and still angry at the reaction which is as vile today as it was then. However, we took our medicine, the journey back had some highlights but was mostly horrid, which all made 55 more enjoyable than any other title. We missed opportunities along the way, it took us longer than it should have but we are getting - still someway to go IMO. A message for lurkers, you thought we'd die, but after a bumpy ride, we stopped the tainted 10 and are back where we belong.

  3. The shocking way we were treated by the whole of Scottish football , they literally tried to kill us! and the difference in the way they treated Hearts who went into administration with a higher debt than us! they dealt with us then changed the rules to deal with Hearts, they were only deducted 10 points yet threw us out of the league, that is when I begun my deep hatred for the whole of Scottish football, which I will continue to do so for as long as I live

  4. Coleman at Everton is a plonker he has bucked up a little bit in recent games but he's yesterday's player young Paterson will thrive at Goodison.

  5. Oh I hope so, would secure their relegation and he'd have a great time with the Aberdeen support!

  6. I try to forget, to be honest. I have taken less interest in Scottish football because of what they did. I am also strangely proud of the fact that we've won every league and cup in Scotland; We've completed Scottish football.

  7. Spot on Bill. I have never got over 2012 and I never will. I have not a single shred of regard for the clubs that shafted us, supported by a bigoted press who have changed a little in personnel but not in their hatred of us. The only comfort I take today is that 55 is killing them and I have no doubt we are on the road to full recovery and 56.

  8. All our games against Borussia Dortmund ... not too bad, actually, but the last was in 1999, different times indeed. It is in German, but you will manage! Fussballdaten Dortmund vs Rangers

  9. It's not something I think about these days but that was a dark era. Lewis McLeod was a rare light in the darkness for me as a fan. I enjoyed watching him play the game. I wouldn't say I hold any anger these days but I can honestly say hand on heart I don't care for any other football club in this country. The poison that spewed out of the average fan on the street was eye opening and almost soul destroying. But they underestimated the people who are an absolute credit to the game. I have never and will never bite or react to anything anyone outside our fanbase says about our club. Their opinion is nothing but traffic noise to me. Last season was euphoric and will live in the memory forever. Dark days for sure but I took encouragement from our own support and the support from other clubs around the world.

  10. Barry strikes me as the type of guy who likes the idea of being a manager but doesn't have the tools or the know how. He hasn't done anything in management to impress me. Arguing with the fans in the stand is shades of Caixinha.

  11. Myself and my oldest son were shocked and neither of us having had a season ticket made an immediate decision to get one each. I personally stood in the ticket office queue from just after 9.00 till 16.45 when I received a call from my son saying he had managed to get them online, albeit not together but in close proximity, and now sit beside each other. It was the day even Charles Green had us believing he was our saviour as he talked to the queuing fans. Anyway we went on the "journey" with our club which now seems in a better place.

  14. 14 wins 7 draws 20 defeats. 34% win percentage. 52 goals scored 56 goals conceded. This is the state of the alleged third biggest club in Scotland. A concept I don't invest in. Ramirez is the only player they have that I take notice of. I don't rate Ferguson despite the hype. Brown is his usual Jekyll and Hyde self. Hedges does a decent job with assists and legwork. Their defence had a torrid time containing Van Veen. Aberdeen are long overdue a dark age. Which I fully welcome.

  15. Thought Davis was our best player but nods to Amad, Ramsey, Zukowski, Sakala and Roofe who all had good games in the first half.

  16. A very comfortable performance all round and the first half was particularly enjoyable despite the conditions and the inane ramblings of Craigan trying to spoil our enjoyment. It was great to see Helander back, he cruised through the game and also got a goal so I went for him. Most of those given a chance took it, or at least tried hard to. On to Germany now, couldn’t be more different or difficult but I am sure we will give our all to stay in the contest for the second leg.

  18. So asking for a better solution to our apparent lack of converting chances into goals or looking at how better teams than Rangers successfully play in their leagues with three at the back is "galaxy brained"? Some seemingly have set their standards very low indeed. Well, we have hardly evolved* as a team once SG had installed his troops, got our act together once in all his time here, grabbed one of nine trophies available and have some nice Europa League runs to get people excited (and money in the back). I for one do not want my team to stop evolving and getting better. It has been obvious for nearly 5 years that our 4-3-3 (or however you line these chaps up) is de facto easily been countered by the bulk of the low-block teams - and most Scottish sides play against us like that. If we fail, people like you, craig and syntax, go bananas about this or that player, preferrably those being chucked in from the cold, while our darling crew of Kamara, Kent, Goldson, Tavernier and even Morelos can`t do anything wrong - or indeed are worth debating. There is every reason to believe that we will soldier on with our current troops and line-up for the next games, even this season - despite what Gio said when he signed up. And there is every reason to believe that we will have enough dire contests against the low-block teams too. It might well be that Ramsey will give the team a lift and his quality will make us shine a little more and perhaps cut these Scottish teams open. Yet, we would still waste our resources if we don`t put the best we have for any position out there on the park, even in a 4-3-3. Only time will tell ... and I will sure remind you of the above in days to come. *Evolved in terms of tactics against Scottish sides. We bought better players for the same positions ... and a few of our current crop managed to get their (defensive) act together last season, yet reverting back to the norm this time around. The facts don`t lie here.
