Tonight, the lessons I learned were... 1. McGregor is still a capable keeper and redeemed his reputation big time. Without him we could easily have been six down at HT. 2. Bassey is never a centre back but he is our best left back. Barisic's role is now cover for Bassey. 3. Tavernier's loss of form is getting worse and he badly needs a rest. Zukowski has more experience than Bassey and should be blooded pronto. 4. Balogun made a huge difference when he came on with his pace and aggression. Helander or Balogun but never Bassey. 5. Jack is quite peerless among our midfielders and his partnership with Ramsey could lift us to a new level 6. There is still a role for Steve Davis as backup to Jack. Kamara has gone stale and needs to recharge his batteries. We didn't miss him at all. 7. Three up front and two attacking fullbacks is madness 8. There is very little leadership on the park. It may be harsh but it's time for a change of captain soon. 9. Morelos is still an absolutely essential part of this team. 10. Our manager is going to be under massive scrutiny to prove he can address tonight's clusterphukk.4 points

It won't be a popular view but I also think Celtic starts as favourite tonight. The only thing that makes me think a Rangers win is possible is the lift the dressing room will have had from the signing of Aaron Ramsey. Playing to our potential, I think we could and should win but there's no denying or ignoring the downbeat performances of recent weeks or the piss poor focus of a number of individuals. I reckon we'll have a fair idea of the result as soon as we see the team selection. I understand the temptation to indulge in wishful thinking, as evidenced by over-optimistic assurances of our squad's superiority but these games are generally won by attitude and commitment and if we show up with the same hesitant, passive approach I've seen so much of since the break then we will be in trouble. We need leaders on the park, which is why I'm hoping to see Jack back in harness tonight and a big contribution from Tavernier.4 points

The nerves are kicking in for me now - it's going to be a long 3 1/2 hours til KO. I hate these games.4 points

I watched the Hibs V Hearts game last night and Don Robertson totally lost control of it. It degraded from a football match to an overly physical junior game very quickly. On top of missing two penalties for Hearts. Our officials are not fit for purpose.4 points

And I don’t care what anyone says but we miss Morelos. Like it or not he’s the best we’ve had since McCoist3 points
-
Aye, he did make the correct changes, however he picked the wrong team to start😁3 points

I actually thought Sakala changed the game when he came on. He has genuine pace and forced them to sit deeper. But the game was over at HT3 points
-
More importantly is to see how we react to this! how will Gio & his backroom team react and the players themselves!.3 points

If Jack is fit we need to be playing him. Honestly he should be our captain if he’s back and capable.3 points

It was like something out of the superbowl. An offensive lineman would have been proud of that block. Andy walker said its legal to shoulder barge a player out the way. Not running at full pelt into the guy and knocking him over its not!3 points

I don't think that we should kid ourselves about the impact of our half time substitutions. All three improved things but Celtic conceded posession deliberately. That made it easy for our subs to look good.2 points

I'd drop kent with aribo out left arfield behind the striker and sakala out right. Jack and Ransey in the centre. Barasic out bassey at left back balagun in centre half. Ryan Jack's performance was captains material and I hope Gio takes note. With Ramsey next to him I recon well fix our dysfunctioning midfield and finally look like a team again. Ryan Jack could very well save our season.2 points

The team selection and formation seemed so glaringly inappropriate for this game that I'm going to lay much of the responsibility at GvB's door, albeit he did effectively respond at Half time. That said, I think these sort of sporting traumas often signal a changing of the guard and I suspect tonight will be no different. I don't want panic, I just want to see progressive development of the squad, the team and the tactics. Changes could have been made after Pittodrie. They should have been made after Dingwall. They will have to be made after tonight. However, in the process of change, it's really important we continue to support GvB's efforts2 points

Given the impact of Jack, Balogun and Sakala I suppose it would be churlish not to acknowledge that the manager did in fact address many of the issues of the first half implosion2 points
-
I blame the tactics for Tav's drop in form as much as anything, he loves getting forward but obviously he is being told to sit back2 points

I think Borna will struggle to get back into the team, Bassey is much stronger and faster than Borna2 points
-
Cant argue with any of that. I would add : 12. Kent needs to be given instructions how to link better with his team mates. If he cant turn it around, Sakala should take his place on the left forward position.2 points
-
Yes, Kamara grafted his arse off 1st half, he just didn't get any support.2 points
-
Not much to argue with there. Only thing for me is I thought Kamara was our best outfield player 1st half (not great but best out a bad bunch). You can see why SG played his wide players "narrow" as his full backs were so far forward. He also used this as a high press which worked. Teams then got wise to this and worked out how to defend and SG didn't adapt. However a very honest summery2 points

One things for sure, the Hearts game is a must win game IMO. Especially with them playing first.2 points

Bassey at LB and Balogun at CB for the foreseeable. Too soon for the Polish guy at RB?2 points
-
Wait a minute? We were poor before he came in to. We've been below par all season IMO.2 points
-
Keep the faith pal, terrible defending cost us that match, much better 2nd half, long way to go before you can say the league is over!2 points
-
To late for that. When was last time we lost 3 goals in consecutive games? For some reason we have regressed dramatically from last season and more worryingly from the start of this season (when we weren't setting the heather on fire, but we were winning and leading the league). On the other hand, they look like they have the belief and will rompt away from us if we continue to regress. We are getting worse every game with little evidence that we're gonna turn it around. Worst OF performance since the good old days of Murty and PC...2 points

And we've regressed under him - got worse every game. His tactics are baffling, everyone knew how Celtic would approach the game yet we sit back, dont press and give them the freedom for Parkhead. We hadn't lost to them in 2 years until tonight. Last defeat was the league cup final where we played them of the pitch. This is like our first 2 seasons back in SPL, only ever looked like being one winner tonight and it could end up a cricket score. Oh and we were 6 points clear 2 weeks ago......2 points

Watching the goals again on RTV ... surely that has to be the last we see of Borna Barisic for a while.2 points

In the spirit of new, modern Scotland; we should note turnout for the election was 1112% and Main Battle Tank production increased 8% on last year. An extra rice ration is available to all who voted early and often.2 points

If Gio wants Balogun in I would push Bassey to LB, I think Barisic has done very little for a while now, he doesn't get forward and utilize his crossing ability, he mainly drives forward with the ball for about 20 yards then stop and play it back! and IMO he isn't a great defender of crosses! their RW is pacey and I just feel Bassey is stronger & faster than Barisic.2 points

Not really. I think there are some instances where a crowd can impact the team but it's pretty rare, especially in the UK, where the atmosphere at football is about as intimidating as a trip to the supermarket. Tims are more irritating than scary.2 points

You must have seen more evidence than I have seen reported. Surely something posted on social media is suspect by its very nature? It could be fabricated, doctored, whatever.2 points

I'm watching the game with a mate who has an annoying habit of talking constantly during matches. Tonight, with Crocker/Walker/vermin belting out terrorist anthems in mind, I might encourage him to do it. Mon The Rangers! 🇬🇧2 points

Nearly everybody on here wanted shagger to be dropped after Saturday! despite him saving us many times previously & again tonight! it's easy to say drop this player and that player but it really doesn't help, IMO.1 point

You would never have seen 4-3-3 at Parkhead from Walter Smith and Walter knew a thing or two about winning in that cesspit.1 point

I know it’s a cliche but his tempo, timing and reading of the game is second to none. I’m not sure they are skills you can be taught.1 point

The game is long gone but what we can do is try to find some answers to the catastrophic fuck up of the first half.1 point

It was a bloody shambles and these officials are actually undermining any integrity that still exists in our game. Winners and losers alike can no longer trust the the outcome of games is a reflection of ability or endeavour. And of course, universal incompetence is such marvellous camouflage for dishonesty.1 point

We should be entering the field of battle every game to a good loud rendition of the BILLY BOYS1 point

Which is why I often thought it would be a good idea to bring in a referee from outside. Do you think someone like Pier Luigi Colina would stand for that nonsense?1 point

Potegcoglou might just be trying to throw us off by saying that. Could just be non-contact training he is doing.1 point
