Says it all itself really..... but.... Before Ross Wilson came in we had Mark Allen who did a decent job - but only since Gerrard, and then Ross Wilson came in have we looked completely organized in the transfer market and the direction we are heading as a club with a particular philosophy. We have gone from transfer windows where we have asked, as fans "why are we signing him, we dont need that position strengthened" to, in this window, saying "we could do with a proper right winger, a creative midfielder and a centre half"...... and Ross Wilson has "listened" in that the positions we have strengthened are those exact positions, albeit Souttar isnt till July. Looking at this window in particular though - what a window, in all seriousness. 1. We sign someone who, IMO, is a world class midfielder in Aaron Ramsey - who was on a 6 figure per week salary at Juventus, and it is costing us a wage "still within the budget". A creative midfielder who scores plenty of goals from that position 2. We get in a right winger, Amad Diallo, a kid of 19 who Man Utd paid 37 million Euros for. No doubt he has other offers but it is quite remarkable that we managed to get Man Utd to trust us with their young talent. From one game already looks like he strengthens our first XI 3. We bring in a centre half, John Souttar, who knows the league well, albeit in the summer. Been one of the league's 3rd placed team's best players, knows the league, strong player - a fine addition to the squad and will give that position depth next season. 4. We "lose" a fine young talent in Nathan Patterson - but Ross Wilson plays hardball and manages to get Everton to double their original offer and we secure £16 million for his services. Good player, a loss, but a back up to our Captain...... but this one gets even better..... we then go and get in a replacement who is only a year older than Patterson, at a fraction of the cost - and a player who knows he will have to wait his turn to get a chance in front of the captain. Masterpiece again as he brings in a player who is hungry, whilst losing a player who deserved to be playing first team football but we simply couldnt guarantee him it 5. Squad fillers such as Bacuna and Brandon Barker have been moved on - wasnt going to get a chance because they weren't good enough sadly - so moving them on keeps the harmony of the club positive and intact 6. Last, for this window, but certainly not least..... Ross Wilson has managed to keep our key players such as Aribo, Morelos, Kamara, Kent and even Goldson. Retaining those players should not go unnoticed. And, slightly earlier than this transfer window.... we lost our manager, the man who secured 55 in an invincible season.... and replaced him with a manager whose name is, continentally, every bit as big as the previous manager but who comes with a better managerial pedigree having won the league title with Feyenoord. Has Ross Wilson had some failings as Director of Football ? Sure, nobody gets these things right all the time. Has he, largely, been a resounding success ? Undoubtedly IMHO. Ross Wilson may very well turn out to be the singular best signing our currect custodians have made to date. Ross Wilson..... thank you9 points

We could've beat Ross County about 6-0 if we cut out the errors and kept at them.4 points

I thought Sands was an 18 month loan deal with option to buy?4 points

Rangers delivered big time yesterday. I doubt we had more excitement in one day in recent history bar the SG appointment, grabbing 55 and securing Gio. What a day! While you hate it as a fan, begging for any info out there, you just have to commend the club for keeping all four new signings essentially totally secret till they actually happened. Be that Sands, Diallo, Zukowski and then Ramsey. Here`s what we got (and best wishe to those who left): SIGNED in Winter 2020/21: IN - James Sands - New York City, 21, CB, USA, ct till 2026 - LINK - TM - DONE DEAL (05 Jan) IN - Cedric Itten - loan to Greuter Fürth cut short - LINK (12 Jan) IN - Amad Diallo - 19, RW, Ivory Coast/Italy, 6-month loan, Manchester United - signed LINK - TM IN - Mateusz Zukowski - Lech Gdansk, 20, RB, Poland, ct till 6/2022 - TM - DONE DEAL IN - Aaron Ramsey - Juventus, 31, AM, Wales, ct till 6/2023 - loaned till 6/2021 - LINK - TM - DONE DEAL Plus IN - Pre-Contract - John Souttar - Heart of Midlothian, 25, CB, Scotland, 4-year deal - LINK (14 Jan) Jon McLaughlin (34) - contract extension till 6/2024 -> LINK4 points

I, for one, was always confident we'd get Ramsey. I just didn't want to jinx it with bad juju... I never doubted it for a second. NOT A SECOND!!4 points

I just hope we don't sit back. We have what it takes to outplay them and beat them.3 points

That team shows them far too much respect. We should going out to dominate a Celtic team without McGregor, Bitton, Turnbull, Rogic and Kyogo. I don’t think we will, but we shouldn’t be setting up to counter attack.3 points

A bit, but we've also got Sands, Zukowski and Souttar, who are long-term acquisitions.3 points

Interesting she is willing to condemn the Goodwillie situation at Raith Rovers2 points

I think there will be goals tomorrow 2 for them and 3 for us but if you fancy that score you can get handsome odds of 300/1 with Tavernier as first goalscorer I have placed my bet of thirty pounds on , feeling confident Mon the gers2 points

I worry about the easy willingness to ignore the "information" and, lets be honest Bill, you are playing with semantics by suggesting it isnt evidence. I certainly am not saying he isnt deserving of proper and due process - but what is out there is going to be very difficult for him to maneuvre - the voice note in particular will be difficult for them to work around.2 points

Ramsey not playing tomorrow - waste of money......😉2 points

There is no "evidence" until it has been presented and tested in court. Until then it can only ever be information that is intended to support or deny an accusation. I worry about the increasing willingness to judge without trial.2 points

It often presents a problem when a DoF arrives at a club with an established manager already in place, especially someone with such a high public profile as Gerrard. It can tend to lead to friction between the two, with the guy who actually runs the footballing operation being unduly pressured by a manager who thinks he does. My suspicions (and that's all it is) is that we now have a situation where Ross Wilson is visible to the entire staff as the man with the reins in his hands and a manager who is relaxed enough to focus all his energies on the players and results. On the other hand, if Wilson is to succeed then he needs his manager to succeed, which requires a happy manager who feels both supported and empowered. At last it feels like we've got a sustainable functional interface between the board and the dressing room and, as always, it all depends on the qualities of the person at the top. Am I implying something that may have contributed to Gerrard's departure? No, but it's possible.2 points

Newcastle signed a few good, needed players. Everton signing Van de Beek and Alli is interesting, alongside the Lampard appointment.2 points

As I’ve always said, these transfer window topics are marvellous 😙2 points

I think the really smart move was realising that we needed better quality players but couldn't afford to buy them ... and then having the nous to know that carefully crafted loans was the way to make both end meet in the middle.2 points

That is the thing, this team of ours is far, far more suited to going for the jugular than it is sitting holding a 1 goal lead. When GvB eventually realises that and releases the handbrake we will take some stopping2 points

Kent and Amad Diallo could run riot tomorrow night if we utilise them properly1 point

Would it be worth putting Ramsey on the bench tomorrow? Might inject a bit of positivity about the team?1 point

Exactly what we saw in the US with the Kyle Rittenhouse trial. The US MSM had him guilty from day one entirely on an identarian basis, whereas the actual evidence was something completely different.1 point

I`d prefer Jack for Kamara and would play Sakala on the left or right side of attack. Diallo for later or Kent next to Aribo, who might get a more ball-winning role. As for Ramsey, unless he was injured, I reckon he`s trained normally with Juve? Then again, I just saw this and hope he`s over that horror scenario.1 point

Either way, it was a transition we knew we would have to face and Ross Wilson's finest hour so far was the way that transition was handled.1 point
-
Certainly possible. I think the answer though lies most likely in the backing Gerrard has been given at Villa. Hard to turn that down given the lack of funds at rangers. He probably knew he had taken us as far as he could.1 point

McGregor may yet feature for them as he trained today. Maeda also on his way back from Japan as we speak. My team would be: McGregor Tavernier | Goldson | Bassey | Barisic Arfield | Kamara | Aribo Amad | Roofe | Kent However, there's something telling me there may be a curve-ball in our team tomorrow. Not Ramsey FWIW but possibly Helander, Jack or even Lundstram. Sakala may also start instead of Amad. Presser is imminent so we may know more soon...1 point

I was wondering where you'd disappeared to yesterday after trying to get us back onto more realistic targets 😀1 point

We have obviously been a bit short term in our thinking this window. I can understand and get behind that this window but we shouldn't make a habit of it.1 point

Marvin Bartley couldnt stop waxing lyrical about Ramsey. When the boy said he was nicknamed Chocolate legs at Arsenal Marvin was like "not sure why, he wasnt often injured at Arsenal"1 point

Some of our recent moves make me think just how piss poor people like Martin Bain must have been.1 point

This deal for Ramsey seems to have caught Scottish football completely off guard. It's clear from the snarling reaction that no one saw this sort of signing coming and it has clearly challenged what many thought was reality for Rangers. To say it has upset a few of the usual suspects is an understatement and that makes it so much more satisfying.1 point

It is always difficult to look beyond a poor result like Saturday's. However, Celtic needed a 96th minute winner at Dingwall not too long ago (yes, I know, at least they won). But our 2nd half performance, from the start of the second half, was for the most part actually exceptional - with a more clinical striker County's 3rd goal in injury time is a consolation in a 5 or 6-3 drubbing. It is that start to the second half we need, and we are clearly capable. Celtic have been getting those late winners that we say wins you leagues - but they have had to do it fairly often which just adds pressure. When you consider that their team is weakened just now whilst we "only" miss Morelos and, perhaps, Helander then we have little to fear. And hopefully GvB has realised that Itten just isnt up to the task and he has to go with Roofe for the first hour, or even try Sakala through the middle. I am still fairly confident that we will get a positive result on Wednesday - in fact, I am fairly confident we take 3 points. We havent been playing well and they arent as good as they think. That 2nd half performance has to be what FvB looks for from the start on Wednesday evening. We get that, and we get 3 points IMHO.1 point
