This deal for Ramsey seems to have caught Scottish football completely off guard. It's clear from the snarling reaction that no one saw this sort of signing coming and it has clearly challenged what many thought was reality for Rangers. To say it has upset a few of the usual suspects is an understatement and that makes it so much more satisfying.7 points

I think the really smart move was realising that we needed better quality players but couldn't afford to buy them ... and then having the nous to know that carefully crafted loans was the way to make both end meet in the middle.5 points

Don't think we need a back-up brought in at all. Even if we had NO other options Barker hasnt been given a game - off the wage bill because he was a wasted space in the squad.5 points

We could have got Veerman for £5m.... £2m loan fee for Ramsey seems a panic deal to me.5 points

Hibs are in for Brandon Barker.4 points

As I’ve always said, these transfer window topics are marvellous 😙3 points

Apologies....I've not really been following what's going in with Italian football. Hopefully he can bring his Welsh form as he always looks head and shoulders about everyone when they play (even Bale)3 points

It's a Gazza moment in my opinion. Even if only for 6 months, guys playing for his future and his place in Wales squad.3 points

He leaves a champion and part of 55 - good luck to him3 points

The lad's finished. Ruined his career before it's even started. Scum.3 points

Ramsey's on a reported £400,000 per week! I think Frank is on something stronger than Grappa...3 points

Madness wanting our best keeper dropped for Wednesday, he is our best keeper, he had a few mistakes against Ross County but so did a lot of others, if for instance the players who missed numerous chances had scored we would have won the match easily, also he has saved us many times, if every player who had a bad game was dropped for the next match we would have to play our youths3 points

Get him right in on Wednesday from the start2 points

He'll be free to play against Dortmund in the EL as well, which increases our chances of going further.2 points

I hope the Erskine Bridge has been cordoned off because the pain this is causing will be intense.2 points

This deal is actually up there with getting Gerrard as manager 😮2 points

Zukowski signing is exactly the type of player we should be going for. But I'm absolutely gobsmacked that we may also be landing Aaron Ramsey. Not just on loan, but with an option to buy...incredible and exciting!2 points

Arsenal's demise actually started when they got rid of Ramsey - big mistake and a player they have never replaced. The only unfortunate thing for us is that, apparently, James McCarthy is the best player in Scotland so we dont have as good a midfielder as they do.....2 points

Don't get smart with me. As you can clearly see from the GPL, I haven't a clue what I'm talking about. 🤣2 points

It is less injuries and more selection that Ramsey has missed games, though he has had some niggles. Paul Merson reckons he would be a remarkable signing for us. I am inclined to agree so long as he stays fit and healthy. Still "only" 31 and one would have to think would ultimately replace Davis in the squad.2 points

One of them tweeted that it was money laundering and he has sent it onto his lawyer, lol2 points

Found his level. By the way, when I was watching Lechia Gdansk's highlights (they are 5th in Polish league), I couldn't help but notice their number 99 playmaker. He looked brilliant and the kind of player who would fit in with us. Turns out it was Durmus who was at St Mirren last year! Really makes you wonder about the level of these leagues which we always assume are much higher than Scotland.2 points

I swore I wouldn't follow these threads today as work is so busy, but I couldn't help myself. Aaron Ramsey? Surely nobody could be against that unless you're related to Lewis Ferguson?2 points

Horrendous signing if true.2 points

Smacks a bit of Robbie Keane/Craig Bellamy2 points

That seems to be the case. Whether or not the buy option would be taken up (I'd think not given the financials) remains to be seen but it does appear the loan deal will be happening.2 points

Has Leigh Griffiths got a club? 😆😆2 points

To be blunt, none of us has the slightest idea what Sands will deliver.2 points

That gives me the fear. Kamara is the Goldson of our midfield. Always available, never injured, and very consistent.2 points

I'll say it: I don't mind losing Kamara for a sizable fee. We've got cover.2 points

I’ve just looked back at his injury record and it’s frightening. His last season free of muscular injuries was 12/13. From 13/14 onwards his seasons look a lot like Ryan Jack/Roofe. Like those players it would be about getting a big contribution out of him before the inevitable injury comes.2 points
-
I agree. I just don't see it happening.2 points

Mason Greenwood and Benjamin Mendy will spend their times in HMP Strangeways waxing nostalgia for the days of the Manchester derby. Further, I am sure when Mason Greenwood first appeared he was being hailed as the next Ryan Giggs? How right they were.2 points

Don't like the idea of us paying a huge fee so Fil Helander has a pal in the treatment room. Same as i don't like us paying 600k for a guy we will have for free from July(Soutter). Also not sure why we have waited to the last minute to arrange this as we could have had him for the last 3 games. 2 of which we dropped points. Edit - would rather chuck that 2 million at goldson for a sign on fee and get a new contract on the table for him...2 points
-
Looks like today/the season comes down to 3 questions: 1) Do we bring in Souttar or hope that Helander and/or Balogun return asap? 2) Can Jack provide a midfield presence? 3) Will Morelos, Roofe and Sakala provide the firepower? If the answer is no, we may need reinforcements. Our squad as it stands is good enough on paper but the fitness problems of Helander, Balogun, Jack and Roofe means it will be a risk not to strengthen. Amad looks a good addition - ideally I'd like one more to help us further. Also helpful to move on a few fringe players.2 points

Brentford have signed Christian Eriksen. Fantastic story. I hope he does well. I think it would scare me to go back onto the pitch after suffering such an event...2 points
