Forget hoodoos. Forget bogey sides. Modern football is all about facing what is coming and not looking to the past. While a semi is a semi and anything can happen on the day, the present Rangers team has nothing to fear from Hibs. A big day for Tavernier to show his captain's credentials and lead the team to victory.4 points

Ya bunch o' big fearties! Yes, they're a bit of a bogey side for us at Hampden but they're shite and we are Rangers.4 points

Apologies for the downtime. Combination of server upgrades and me being in a +5timezone this week meant some maintenance from our host took a little longer to resolve than we would have liked. Especially this week! Let's go Gio!3 points

Good luck to him wherever he goes. My own view is that the academy doesn’t produce nearly enough young players getting into the first team squad, something I’m sure the new manager may concur with.2 points

The Ross Wilson interview was very informative and we'll worth a listen. We do appear to be very professional on and off the pitch at the moment.2 points

Just for the record, the timing on this was completely outwith our control. It was planned by our hosts and we are not in a position we could have stopped it unfortunately. These things happen.2 points

Big game tomorrow. 4pm kick off, with the game being shown live on Premier Sports. What's everyone's thoughts? I'm confident we'll win tomorrow. The players will have something to prove and I think the fans will be in great spirits after Thursday's announcement. We have some payback duties to fulfill. My newly arrived orange (red, white and blue trim) hat and scarf will be worn. Hopefully it's a colourful occasion. Mon The Rangers! 🟥⬜🟦🍊1 point

I guess Gerrard’s departure at least gives us a chance of winning this cup1 point

I've only seen us play Hibs once at Hampden - 2016 - and I'll never forgive Warburton and co. Revenge tomorrow - you bet it will be. C'mon the Rangers1 point

Well done Wolves and a trouncing at Anfield for the Gunners. I had a thought they would win this one. Idiot.1 point

It would be good to know if the Academy players are, in fact, not good enough, or has it has been an unwillingness from the management to use them?1 point

He comes across as a decent man but he would be better getting a financial agreement and leaving1 point

Two three all draw at unlikely venues and United swamped at Watford. Watford, for God’s sake. He can’t survive this, can he?1 point

I wish Graeme every good fortune. He was asked to step in and did not shy away. In his first spell, he went on an unbeaten dozen game run with a midfield composed of Goss, Docherty and, Halliday.1 point

This thread is giving me the fear ...... I missed the three Scottish Cup final games in 1979, I was attending the RMA Sandhurst. I decided to look back after the giving you the fear comment. I have attended Hampden for Rangers - Hibs semis and finals over the years and as far as my memory informs me, we have lost all of them since '79. A Scottish Cup final in 2016, League Cup semi finals in 1973, 2004 and, 1991. Of course, we defeated Hibs 2-1 in the 1993 League Cup final, but that was hosted at Parkhead. The last time I witnessed Rangers defeat Hibs at Hampden was the Scottish Cup semi-final replay in April'71. Fifty years of fear ................1 point

I'm getting the train from Edinburgh. Last time I was on a train full of Hibs fans it didn't end well. "Wherever we go, we'll fear no foe...".1 point

Notify the Stock Exchange? Hell they didn't even discuss it with their own shareholders at their AGM. The denial is total.1 point

Like the Scottish Cup final in 1969, I've never really got over the loss to Hibs in the 2016 final. Sunday will go some way to putting that right. I have little fear about the result, in fact we may win by a surprisingly large margin.1 point

Condolences to Gary and family, I can't imagine what they're going through. My prayers are with them.1 point

I was at that second replay, one of my first Rangers games iirc.1 point

Attended all 3 matches and all of them were poor even though we eventually won the trophy.1 point

A report suggesting that Neil McCann might still be added to the coaching team. COME HOME Neil McCann in talks over Rangers return as part of Gio van Bronckhorst’s backroom staff Andy Devlin, methinks, is one of the more clued-up journos. Would sure be a welcome addition, as he has seen this Rangers team these last few months - if not years - and knows how the players perform, how the opposition make us toil and what should probably be changed. We shall see.1 point

this was the fixture last season that put an end to Lampards tenure as manager of Chelsea1 point

I think we have enough to beat them, but the hoodoo...........1 point

I have just realised I have never seen Rangers beat Hibs at Hampden. Our last victory was 1979 Scottish Cup Final (2nd replay). I was at first two games and decided against the 2nd replay as previous 2 matches were terrible affairs.1 point

According to todays Express he's not. They are also saying Makaay will be strikers coach, not assistant. I dont know if that means Defoe is on the way out. Also saying Gio does want a Scottish influence on his coaching team. Im not sure where they are getting their information though.1 point
-
None, I believe. Ross Wilson said as much in an interview.1 point
-
Yeah there appears to be some confusion on if he'll join Gio or not. Time will tell.1 point
-
I don't think van Gastel is joining? I read that he's still under contract in China. I'm excited for change. The reason SG did well, especially in Europe was the tactical influence of Beale. GvB doesn't have it, so I think he needs that help. I'm excited to see what he's learned under Pep, though.1 point

Man. Disaster strikes too. Grrr Soooo sorry everyone. This was planned but went a little wrong and the timing was absolutly terrible. Announcement day and I am +5 hour timezone this week with real work so been limited how quickly we could get it back online. Really sorry folks. Go enjoy the Gio chat now.1 point

One door closes then another door opens all in the space of a week. I’m particularly pleased the way we’ve gone about things over the past week. It’s good to see we’ve learned our lesson from when Warburton & Pedro left & we’d no obvious replacements identified. Much of this I think can be attributed to the DoF role which I think has been largely successful since it was introduced at Rangers just over 3 years ago. When Gerrard left( or indicated he was leaving) the DoF immediately identified a shortlist of successors. We have to hope the arrival of GvB will provide a spark which seems to have been missing too often this season. One or two players seem to have lost their sharpness from last season and one or two others seem to have regressed unfortunately. This will need sorted out and I’m sure there will be changes as the new manager makes his own mark on the squad. I’ll be particularly interested to see if he gets more out of Bacuna.1 point

Potentially more appointments to the backroom staff (from 4th Official) Twitter; Performance analyst Yori Bosschaart is also joining the team along with physiotherapist Arno Philips. Philips is currently the physio for the Dutch national team. This particular information is collaborated by Chris Jack's Herald column. This is looking like a really strong backroom team and if you are a Rangers supporter, how can you not be excited?1 point

Whatever the circumstances of Gerrard's leaving, I believe we should take enormous encouragement from the way the club has responded, both in terms of the outcome and the professionalism with which the process was conducted. Rangers has come a long way under this board and I feel we're stronger for the events of the last fortnight.1 point
