  2. Public Service Announcement. BBC Scotland apologises for today's suspension of broadcasting from Pacific Quay. All your favourite TV and Radio programmes will return late this afternoon after our staff return from attending today's Sellik AGM. Thank you for your patience. I think we should all be excited today for Chris McLaughlin, it's the first time in 20(twenty) years that he gets to taste a different cheese. Peter Lawwell is no longer Chairing and thus the aroma and allure of Ian Bankier's Epoisse de Bourgogne awaits Gollum's keen nostrils.

  3. If you had said to me when we were getting pumped out of Europe by the minnows of Luxembourg, or horsed by the beggars again, that our next 2 managers would be Gerard and then Gio, I'd have expected you to be sectioned quite frankly. Never know whats round the corner! ?❤

  8. You're not the only one. I'd also be relieved to see a Rangers man like Kevin Thomson involved at a senior level.

  12. he has at most 6 months left on his contract. though reports are it's more like 2 weeks. Either way compensation will not be substantial.

  13. From today's Nonce FC AGM: "Your strategy has been to keep going a rivalry with a zombie club no one cares about." The questioner then asks the entire board to "do the decent thing and resign".

  16. There's been a stark contrast between previous searches for a manager and the speed (and apparent preparedness) of the board as it sought to fill the vacancy that was only confirmed 5 days ago. If we land our man this week I think Ross Wilson will have moved with commendable urgency. This feels like another sign of our ongoing recovery.

  17. I’d be more excited for KT’s involvement than GVB’s. KT would be a great senior coach, but I can’t put my finger on why I’m underwhelmed about GVB. That said, I don’t have a better suggestion. I trust Ross Wilson and the board to get it right, and if that’s GVB, I’ll be right behind them.

  19. Ah ... I was not thinking about Malmö and the CL, but the money SG were given in his tenure. No doubt about the Malmö fiasco.

  21. Not going to lie though.... I would be VERY excited by the prospect of Gio as manager and Kevin as the "Gary Mac" - Kevin, I know for fact, wouldn't accept anything less than 100% - those players would know for sure that they wouldn't be able to hide poor effort from him.

  22. Unless he stated it publicly, I doubt they'd have known. His pal at Villa may have been phoning/messaging him for days, weeks or months without anyone at Rangers knowing about it. Talks with GvB commenced a couple of days after SG's departure - do people expect a new manager to be appointed within 48 hours? There are a few things I think the board could do better but this isn't one of them. A manager has left us with minimal notice and they have a hugely important decision to make (which is why Ross Wilson was brought in).

  23. I knew at the end of last season that we werent good enough for CL. The Europa runs were great to watch but the manner in which we went out spoke volumes. The ease in which Gerrards tactics were nullified spoke volumes to me at least that we were just not good enough for the main stage. I said so to two Celtic supporting mates who came to my house to pay their debts ( 20 quid each per old firm game litre of jack for the league) and i was proven correct. After being schooled by leverkusen i hoped Gerrard would have learned from it but he never. The following season was a carbon copy of the last. I did though expect to beat malmo. As for Gerrard, im not buying the all of a sudden job offer from his from his good chum at villa. I wouldnt be surprised if he packed his bags weeks ago judging by the speed he left.

  24. Mate, Malmo were down to 10 men for 45 minutes and we were at 1-1 on aggregate. That game should have been closed out comfortably. The next opponents Malmo pumped to get into the CL. They threw away 30 million when you factor in the guarantees, possible points bonuses, ticket sales and merchandising. The numbers don't really lie. What is the other way to pay investment back if not monetary ? Regardless, that's a red herring. The "investors" may indeed be Rangers men but they have already put many millions in, our latest results showed a 24 million loss and there is a need to find a further 8 million to see out the season. Gerrard and his team, management and players, threw away any "right" they had to want to strengthen the team when they capitulated at home to Malmo. If Gerrard was pissed about that he should also consider that the Board went with his wishes not to sell Goldson and they also held onto every major player at the club, despite the financial implications. It is incredibly churlish to think Gerrard walked because he didn't get financial backing when he and his team could have done more to justify the spend.

  25. In the immediate wake of Scotland defeating Moldova on Friday night, Big Dick was wanting to know if Gerrard would want to combine John McGinn with Nathan Patterson at club level? Whatever happened to BBC Scotland's long held belief that young Scots players should always be encouraged to continue plying their trade in Scotland for as long as possible? Further, if a young Scot does leave, BBC Scotland always advocates he should not leave cheaply. Scots clubs should be fully rewarded for the development put in, getting said young Scottish player to the necessary level. When it comes to Rangers, BBC Scotland prefers a cleansing. RAB Cosgrove likes Billy Gilmour because although he had spent eight years at Rangers from aged eight to sixteen; Chelsea had taken him and rinsed him off. Rangers players playing for Scotland are deemed awkward and inconvenient these days. They could be booed, they could have a posse of the Tartan Army following them around whilst toting a banner proclaiming, "Lee Wallace is a Grass". BBC Scotland even had a Journo reporting the trail of the banner in Malta, telling us where it received applause. You could take say Ian Black and Ryan Jack and they were appearing for the national team at Easter Road and Pittodrie respectively, every touch was booed only by Hibs and Aberdeen fans. Hhhmmm , just rivalry we are told? No, it's better to move Rangers players on, easier to love. Thus today on BBC Scotland we have Football Gossip and I wonder who penned this : "Aston Villa want to sign Rangers defender, Nathan Patterson following Steven Gerrard's arrival as manager from the Scottish champions - but face competition for the Scotland right back, 20 from Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid and, Paris St-Germain". Now, Nathan has been at Rangers since aged eight and has three and half years left on his contract. Bayern and PSG involved, are we talking a transfer fee that could wipe the recently reported £23million deficit? I think BBC Scotland want to take more time to hone this proposition to disappear Nathan from Ibrox.

  26. From what I've seen of Villa on TV they're rank average and, looking beyond the predictable 'sleeping giant' myth-making, I think Gerrard's move has at least as much to do with wanting to leave Rangers as it has with the unfathomable appeal of Aston Villa.

  27. I schooled with Lulu's sister, Edwina and the family are solid. I watched a two hour documentary 20 years past, Jools Holland was hosting a take on early British Blues. We are talking early sixties, on the cusp of the Beatles. Contributors were Tom Jones, Van Morrison, Chris Farlowe, Mick Fleetwood, Al Green .... etc. They talked about the the best interpreters and players. It was agreed the Female contribution was on the light side, obvious exceptions being Dusty Springfield, Kiki Dee, Elkie Brooks, ..... Anyways, the Toms, Vans, Als ..... all agreed the one that could do it live was Lulu, check out her interpretation of , 'To Sir with Love'. Lulu opened the Edmiston Club, the Club should invite her back to open the new Edmiston when opened. A night of Blues with Lulu -sounds good and most appropriate.
