Everyone makes decent points concerning this incident. The situation is the Scottish Government, Police Scotland and, a large section of both broadcast and print media are only interested in sectarianism when it appears to be perpetrated by Rangers supporters. There is a video circulating of a seven/eight year old boy, microphone in hand, in a Kilmarnock club; bellowing, "he's a bastard, he's an orange bastard, his name is Jimmy Bell". He is being accompanied by an adult guitarist and the several dozen Sellik strip attired adults all chorus, "we hope he dies, we hope he dies". The trump card of, 'whataboutery' is played and is thus ignored by all. The scene is truly heartbreaking, social services should be involved. I mention the Primary school child because it highlights a gap, no one at the Scottish Parliament will ask the necessary questions. The Club has made a couple of statements and appear to be assuming responsibility for an incident occurring two miles from the Stadium. Again, we must face the reality of the situation; to allow the Club to get on the front foot of the narrative, we must identify the leadership and organisers of this march through the city centre. The Supporters' Liaison must engage and articulate the ongoing damage being done. Concurrently, those supporters charged should not be abandoned. The authenticity of the video must be examined, the supporters charged have not been found guilty and, a defence fund should be organised for ongoing issues. The politicising of Police Scotland must be exposed. Further, the likes of Humza, James Dornan MSP, Angela Haggerty, ...... etc should be reminded that if their team fails to defend a corner, getting after elements of the Rangers support is being done, only to allow them to feel more comfortable with the result. The Club must question why the SNP has 108 MSPs/MPs and not one supports Rangers. This fact is NOT representative of Scottish life. If it is mentioned often enough, then the narrative changes. This week in Scotland, in excess of 40,000 folks have contracted Covid, the Health Minister, Humza Yousaf has broadcast more on Rangers than his direct responsibility. Taking him on and reminding him of his Office will see Nicola remove him from participation. Finally, after the last independence referendum there was a study into the voting intentions of Scottish football clubs supporters. Rangers supporters registered 40% in support of independence, the highest of all clubs. We used to have a number of posters on Gersnet who supported independence but they have largely withdrawn hors de combat. A pity I say. I want to know the mindset and debate only makes all of us stronger. Those of us supporting the continuing homogeneity of the British Isles have lost an insight into why the Nationalists HATE our Club and support.6 points

I agree but the song is aimed at the type who attends football matches, waves an Irish tricolor and sings songs about the Provos and the Fields of Athenry, whilst also opposing all things British. I'd have thought that was obvious. Like a huge amount of Scots, I have ancestry from Ireland (as in Irish and Ulster/Scots) but think this is a ridiculous overreaction to run of the mill West of Scotland football rivalry. The onslaught will doubtless continue - they want us dead and buried (Rangers and Scottish Unionism).4 points

I think it is illiberal and goes against my fundamental beliefs in a democratic society. People have the right not to be vaccinated. Coercion doesn't cut the mustard. BTW I am double jagged and awaiting a booster which I will also take.4 points

I'd also say that the "famine chant" isn't sectarian, and was aimed at Scottish people pretending to be Irish. Those who want to be offended ignore the irony and claim to be offended and perhaps some genuinely are. I personally don't think it's offensive as it's taking the piss out of "plastic paddys" but certainly agree that it shouldn't be sung.4 points

i believe he means they didn't condemn the players for being in a fake video but are doing so with the fans.3 points

It's just one song after another!!, what will be the next one??, if any song is outlawed then it can't be sung as it is only damaging the club, however I can't get my head around why it is a Rangers FC problem when the song was being sung miles away from Ibrox!!. Separate Entity FC can sing/do what they want and it is not fair.3 points

For me thats essentially the frustration we all have. Whilst it suits those with an agenda to jump on anything that fits their narrative, its a complex societal issue that is being boiled down to a few words and songs and it isn't doing anything other than continue to sow division and attract attention to something that is generally fading away from day-to-day life for the majority of people. Of course, it should not be played down either, but there is a real lack of honest discourse.3 points

Agree completely. It is a piss take. This anti Irish nonsense needs addressed. They are either Irish or Scottish, not both. We are not talking here about people who are first or second generation immigrants. All of that aside, I wish they would just stop singing stuff to the offended. I am sick of them feeding Dornan, Yousef, Haggerty et alia. It just adds to the myth that we are full of hate while they remain the good guys.3 points

I was certainly surprised when I heard the claims that it had been sung as I haven't heard it for many (8?) years. That's not to say that I wouldn't be surprised if there were songs sung which shouldn't be. However if someone is genuine about it then they shouldn't concentrate on examples that appear to be fake. That's a waste of time and just gets people's backs up. There's been real progress made, if you compare what's sung at Ibrox to what was sung 15 years ago. It's not an overnight process. It's also not helped by the continued free reign that the likes of the press and the SNP give to Celtic fans, who have been far worse than us over the past 10 years, and our young team see that and react with the "well, if they can do it..." attitude to an extent, although in general, again it's been a lot less than it has been in the past.3 points

Anytime Rangers or the Rangers support refer to Mark Sutherland, he should be addressed as, the Careerist Mark Sutherland'. Remind Mark where he decided to advance his career prospects on the backs of the Rangers support. Remind him of his responsibility and the price to be paid for deliberately demonising Rangers supporters before trial by choosing to utilise racism.2 points

No. That headline figure refers to the likelihood of developing a symptomatic response. I think this sums up the argument of the article: "These data suggest that vaccinated individuals are still spreading the virus much like unvaccinated individuals." Instead of going along with each silly imposition we should be challenging the government to justify them. Will the government tell us how many lives this measure will save? Will the government also tell us how much this measure will cost to implement?2 points

Further club statement Club Statement | Rangers Football Club Were the club so quick to condemn those players in the dressing room who were subject to a fake video?2 points

And it goes further up the legal chain than that. Rangers supporters need to wise up to what's going on and accept that we are being scrutinised to a higher degree and need to behave accordingly. They tried to kill us off in 2012, it didn't work, so now it's death by a thousand cuts.2 points

This is known in political circles as 'nudge'. It's about trying to get people to do something you want them to do without legislation. This is an attempt to get those who haven't been vaccinated to either get the jags or face potentially missing out on social activities. It's mainly aimed at younger people who have been slower to take up the vaccines and who might be more likely to want to go to nightclubs and gigs. When faced with the possibility of missing out on social events they might decide to get vaccinated, which is what this is all about.2 points

And the Chief Superindentent says "We will continue to work with Rangers FC to identify and take appropriate action against those responsible." Obviously under political instructions to bring Rangers into it. Apart from making prejudicial statements, it seems that he is saying that Rangers are responsible for issues that happen in the city centre. The police have become an arm of the SNP.2 points

The article states this will be introduced later this month. Will it be introduced prior to the Lyon game on the 16th? I also wonder when we'll find out how it will be done (QR codes, paperwork?) and I'll reiterate, if we're going to rely on technology or stewards, I think turning up a good three hours before KO might be required for anyone determined to see the full match, given previous ticketing issues this season.2 points

In England the covid pass is on the NHS app. You can get an offline version. My worry is, she becomes problematic with other regions certificate. Will they just accept the NHS pass?2 points

Imagine looking for condemnation of something that might not have actually happened or even worse, something our bitter rivals fabricated. Should we not leave that sort of foolishness to Humza and co?2 points

The vaccine numbers are very very high , given they are shutting vaccination Center’s it simply doesn’t square , also they have made a complete dogs dinner , using a Californian company to run the mailing has been nothing short of a shambles , one they have tried very hard to keep quiet .2 points

Point 3 is rather alarming, despite not being too surprising. The UBs should set up a Go Fund Me page for legal costs for those charged. I'm sure many are sympathetic. It is quite apparent that the yahoos and their friends in authority have piggybacked last year's race panic and the same terminology used by Critical Race Theory/BLM is being turned on Rangers supporters, regardless of detail/nuance peculiar to our rivalry with Celtc. The word sectarianism has barely been mentioned in relation to Sunday but anti-Catholic, anti-Irish and racist have all been used a lot.1 point

No, I think the problem is that we do have a sizeable element of the support that does this stuff. Would anyone actually be surprised if fans were singing the song? Regardless, the issue for me is that people try to play it down rather than eradicate it.1 point

Can only now lose players if we loan players out (think this can still be done within same association) or if we terminate contracts. I think. I think all other European windows are closed EDIT : Found this on transfermarket https://www.transfermarkt.com/statistik/transferfenster - none of our players would end up going to any of these leagues I wouldn't think.1 point

While I condemn racist behaviour of any kind it is obvious that there are sections of society that are permanently offended and who try and influence society for their own gain, let's not be fooled into thinking that those making the complaints are anything more than agitators and leftists who want to see a society moulded to suit them, it's political point scoring to quell loyalist voices and we all know it.1 point
