Stewart Robertson writes to all clubs in response to MacClellans letter. Some interesting points raised and leaves Doncaster out on a limb. https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/football/7504868/rangers-stewart-robertson-letter-clubs-spfl-cinch-row/amp/?utm_medium=Social&utm_source=Twitter4 points

I thought we looked the better team overall, more dangerous going forward, had the better players and as such I am fairly confident we can overturn the slight deficit next week and get through. Malmo had 3 shots at goal, the first a comfortable save low to McGregors left hand post and the other 2 from defensive disasters went in our net. Goldson back to his 2019/20 form of always being good for a mistake in big games, which he completely got rid of last season and hopefully that was just a blip although I have been worried at his pre-season form and had mentioned before last night that he was looking more like the Goldson of old rather than the new improved version. Time will tell and he will get plenty of it as SG's main man. With us having at least half our team playing below par, it should be surprising that we still managed to look the better side in my opinion, but Malmo were not much better than other sides we have played in Europe apart from being clinical with the 2 chances we gift-wrapped for them. Tav & Borna wont have many worse games with their crosses, Lundstrom never got going, Arfield & Kent were both industrious but without much luck. Itten, I thought was excellent in the first half in that lone striker role, I thought he fought really hard, showed lovely control but was left all too often with no out ball as a combination of Wright, Kent & Arfield couldn't get into supporting areas quickly enough. Wright was dangerous and had the beating of the full back right up until said full back kicked lumps out of him. A goal for us was always coming in my mind as we pushed them back in the last 20 minutes and they made several changes to try to close it out, and it was a shame we didnt have more firepower on the bench to call upon or we may even have salvaged a better result than we got. One thing I did notice in watching the game in a Rangers friendly venue near me yesterday was how the bears around me were so quick to turn on the team in the second half. I wasn't exactly smiling myself but it was clear we were not out of it, while for others every slightly misplaced pass or tackle resulted in abuse. It was like being back in the Copland Road stand in a league game against supposed cannon-fodder opponents where we are not 3 goals up after an hour!4 points

Humza Yousaf should be ashamed of himself. A nursery in East Kilbride has faced false accusations, threatening phone calls and abuse on social media because of him taking details of an ongoing investigation, into a small business in Broughty Ferry, to the Daily Record. It's fine promoting this stuff from Tayside, he doesn't have to live with the consequences. Coward.2 points

Balagon, Kamara & Roofe were included in the list for the qualifiers because if you excluded them but then list them (if we qualify)in the Group Stages squad, they must serve their suspensions then. The other omitted fringe players you mention in earlier post is due to the UEFA home grown rule.2 points

Interesting, Murdo Fraser confirms what most of us know. The SNP has no MSP or MP supporting Rangers. That is a hundred folks. Where else in Scottish life can you find zero out of a hundred supporting Rangers?2 points
-
We all know that his weakness is his defending but he had improved in that regard. He is just searching for his best form at the moment but to call for him to be dropped is a bit harsh; what if Patterson replaced him and he made a mistake due to his inexperience?2 points

Knee jerk reactions straight after the match always brings out the worst! best leave it until tomorrow is good advice2 points

Honestly , some of the shite you read after a poor 10 minutes.2 points

Aye, we've struggled in Europe playing 4-3-3 for last 2 or 3 seasons...... Formation wasn't the issue, our players not performing to their usual standards was the major issue. We play to our full potential and we defeat Malmo.2 points

In the context of the article under discussion, that is a ridiculous thing to say.1 point

He's been the butt of ritual criticism for a long time now, which is strange since, as you rightly say, he's hardly played. Personally I won't miss him but the point I was making wasn't really about Jones anyway.1 point

Last night reminded me of the Young Boys game in Switzerland. Where it was mostly 50/50 and could have gone either way but defensive lapses cost us.1 point

I agreed with the manager, Davis and Helander were the two best players. I thought Itten had an excellent first half, and Goldson had a total nightmare. Kent never stopped and tried hard with nothing really coming off for him, and Wright looked good for half an hour until they booted into him. Lundstrom seemed overawed by the occasion, miles off the pace at times, but with several players below par and us chasing the game it was telling that SG could only bring on 1 sub.1 point

I have just completed the arithmetic, the SNP has 109 MPs/MSPs. I reckon if you asked 109 folks employed by ra Sellik who they support? You would find several cheering for the mighty? Such a cleansing by the SNP, Angela Haggerty will be on the cusp of contacting, 'Call It Out'.1 point

Great news! Dead wood removed. Jones' best moment was the cross for Morelos against Rapid Vienna (?). And that's probably it.1 point

I think i may be the only one voting for him but for me Kent was behind every good thing we did last night even though it was by far not his best performance. There was a moment very late on when he came all the back to the sitting midfield position to receive the ball then drive at the heart of the Malmo defence laying off a decent pass, he was even involved with an assist for our goal.1 point

I thought we started slowly and came into the game in the first half. I was thinking at half time that Malmo did not threaten us and we would go on to win. Then the moments of madness and we looked that we might lose even more. But we came back into it - whether us being better or Malmo defending what they had, I don't know. Our goal sets up the 2nd leg nicely. If we said beforehand that if we win at home we go through, we'd have been content. I think we will win at home. I hope we win by more than 1 goal. I don't think I could bear penalties.1 point

FFS gisabeer, you are seriously going to come on after who knows how long of an absence and start bother ? Give it a rest please.1 point

Hopefully it was at least a very valuable workout for a few players. We had some players out there who were simply not match fit. It should also serve to underline the need not to be complacent or take qualification for granted. I fully trust Gerrard to make sure the job gets done. It could even be a means of motivation that Olympiacos drew at home in their fixture. There is a chance we could get to the groups via Malmö and Ludogorets.1 point

Oh the pain, the pain.... it's as if a deflected goal counts as less than a "normal" goal, or not at all. Instead of rejoicing in a Scottish team keeping theirs, and the nation's CL dreams alive, they are depressed and in pain. Only in Scotland.1 point

Thank God for Davis! We must improve in every department next week otherwise our return to CL will be very short lived. We clearly missed Morelos and Roofe.1 point

Our goal at the end changes the tie but I’m concerned about the lack of clear cut chances we created tonight. They were a big strong physical team who played three CB’s but we tried putting in high balls too often particularly in the second half1 point

Not telling any lies here. Terrible from the offset. Im not a fan of the 4 3 3 in Europe and i think from time to time we need to learn to change our formation. Only person who got pass marks was itten and we subbed him! I would have played sakala up front with itten instead of the big man slugging it out with 3 defenders everytime he got the ball. He was on a hiding to nothing. As for tav.... he played malmo onside for the first goal and gave the ball awayfor the second. If hes not up to it in the qualifiers god help us in the group stages.1 point

we were the better team but we didn't make that count and created nothing first half. then we were awful for 5 mins and they punished us. then we were better again and got a goal we deserved to have a good chance here.1 point

And the award for season over reaction post of the year , has been won in the first week , we are all entitled to opinions , but seriously mate , get a grip .1 point

Poor team selction from the off im afraid. Arfield should have been subbed at half time as well. Kent tripping over his own feet for 80 minutes wasnt pleasing on the eye either. We crossed balls in all day into the box against a 10 man Livingston defence and won none. Tonight exactly the same. Then we sub the only guy who was getting pass marks. Malmo changed their formation to 3 at the back and got instant results. I wish our manager could maybe consider this option from time to time. As for tav. ..how many more blunders is he going to make. Get Paterson in for the next leg.1 point

Very comfortable first half , yet 3 sloppy minutes turned the tie on it’s head , 2 nil heavily flattered this Malmo team , whom after 70 minutes were dead on their feet . SD ,s goal is priceless and no less than we deserved , we will win the 2nd leg , onwards and upwards troops , keep believing .1 point

Kent and Arfield should have been off before Itten. Glad we got the late goal. I think 2-1 was a fair result.1 point

The big point here is how Rangers are exposing the SPFL how corrupt & incompetent they are, the other big thing here is how/why all the other clubs are terrified of challenging the bias corrupt cabal!!, Scottish football is fucked and has been since the attempt to kill Rangers and the witch hunt continues on Rangers. Since the day Rangers were voted out of the top division Scottish football was fucked, the only thing I kept saying is we need to start winning again, being successful, this is the only way we can change things! I still believe that, we have made astonishing progress under SG and that is killing all the Rangers hating Scottish clubs and Scottish gutter press!. Rangers FC just need to keep on winning, the more success we have the stronger we will be and the more pressure we can apply to the corruption that is rife in Scottish football and indeed Scotland including the Scottish gutter press. It is a wonderful time to be a Rangers fan, especially after what we have had to endure these last 10 years or so. Just keep being successful Rangers.1 point

Most blokes from RoI have little interest in that lot. It's usually Liverpool or Man Utd if they're into football. I suspect Tom's yahoo proclivities have been embedded by his colleagues at PQ CSC.1 point
