I've my doubts any of the current crop out on loan will make a dent on our first team. I can't see Middleton returning, he's been a bit part player at St Johnstone and he really needs games. Best case scenario for him is another loan at a similar sized club. Likewise I can't see a return for Jake Hastie. Brandon Barker and Edmundson might push for a squad space but I suspect Jordan Jones is finished with us. Kelly has had an okay season at Ross County, but again he's not a guaranteed starter for them albeit he's played in most games this season. Again though is he likely to challenge for a place in our midfield currently, I don't think so. McPake is playing at a pretty low level, there would need to be serious improvement for him to challenge Kent or Aribo. I suspect another season on loan at a higher level than English League 2 is next for him. The players on loan in the Scottish lower leagues will either be released or sent back out on loan I suspect. Some of them have done quite well by all accounts. Mayo and Kennedy are both in the play offs. I don't think Mayo has a future at Rangers unfortunately or Barjonas. If Raith Rovers go up I could see us keeping Kennedy there, Raith play decent passing football and seem well managed and coached, if he can make an impact in the SPFL he's got as good a chance as anyone of getting into our side. Ben Williamson has apparently done well at Arbroath in the same league as has Maxwell at QOTS, again a loan at a higher level seems the obvious next move for them. I don't know much about Breen at QOTS or Lyall at ICT, but further loans seem likely. The question of what happens to Paterson and King next season is more important. Paterson has looked very promising but barring injury he's not replacing Tav currently. King has been highly rated for a while and it was interesting we chose to keep him rather than send him out on loan too. He's not made it onto the pitch though. Do they stay as squad players hoping for a chance or go out and get first team experience elsewhere. It'll be interesting to see if Charlie Lindsay, who we signed from Glentoran, and James Graham who we took from Ross County can make any kind of impression next season.3 points

All four deserve huge credit for what's been achieved this season and there are another 2 or 3 other names that could also have been on the list. But ignoring who has had memorable moments or who played most often and focussing purely on overall influence on the season as a whole, my choice would be .... 1. Tavernier 2. Davis 3. Goldson 4. McGregor I think this season has been transformational for Tavernier. He looks like the captain, the leader, we've lacked for many years now.2 points

I feel like it's only relatively recently we've taken notice of McGregor and Davis. They've definitely been good all season, but they were quietly efficient. I think they've really stepped up to get us over the line, and that's why the spotlight is on them now. However, I still think Goldson and Tavernier were the base for the whole season.2 points

Never underestimate the stupidity of UEFA, as these where the clowns that sent Chelsea and Arsenal to Baku where hardly anyone could get to. But well done the Blue boys.2 points

Tav for me, quite simply at another level right from the off this season and like most true Rangers captains, led by example on both sides of the ball. As for other nominees, for me it would have been Kent, Barasic, Morelos all ahead of Davis, Kamara, Aribo, and then Goldson and McGregor who was a spectator for large parts of the season before having a few spectacular games as the pressure mounted showing his class. The amazing thing about this season is that there are so many outstanding candidates and about 10 of our players could easily make a 4 man shortlist. I’m reading my fellow Gersnetters comments in this thread and can easily accept that the cases put forward are perfectly valid ones for any number of our players this season, even the likes of Goldson & McGregor who I have 8th & 9th I can see why others have picked them as POTY. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a season like it, but I hope we are having the same happy problem next year, and the year after,.......1 point

I take a different position on these players. The point of developing fringe players isn't to produce candidates for our first team. It will happen from time to time of course but in general we go out and sign players we expect to turn out for the first team. In my opinion like most other big clubs, the main point of the rest is to develop and trade - a process we're only starting to implement. Talk of the likes of Kelly coming from Ross County to replace Steve Davis is just nonsense - it will never happen and if we have any ambition to improve then neither should it.1 point

I was hoping this would be the case when he joined RC at the beginning of the season but I'm afraid it looks very unlikely now that he'll make the cut with us. He has only played more than half an hour 14 out of 36 league games with them, and many (if not all) of those appearances were due to injuries to others. It has been a similar story with McCrorie, I had hoped he was ready to step up but his season with Livingston hasn't gone to plan at all.1 point

It also highlights the problem they have creating content while refusing to deal with us. Normally there would an in-depth interview with the league champion's manager, maybe some of the backroom too. There would certainly be interviews with key players and I suspect they'd like to speak with directors either on the business or footballing side. Likewise a review of the key moments in the season should be accompanied with quotes from those involved. But when the national broadcaster chooses not to engage with the champions of the nation then we're left with Jane Godley's memories of the Scottish Cup, and who wouldn't want to hear that... This is the nightmare scenario for Pacific Quay, they could get away with ignoring us when we weren't winning anything, but for BBC Scotland not to have an interview with Steven Gerrard, something that would syndicate all over the BBC and probably beyond due to his profile, is seriously negligent. The other problem they have is nature abhors a vacuum, others are filling the space they're leaving. If radio coverage could be done by someone else on a free to air basis and across the main digital or FM networks then BBC Scotland would become completely redundant. For me that's the last piece of the jigsaw.1 point

Can't argue with BD's order of selection.1 point

That's definitely the correct four players. My order FWIW 1. Goldson 2. Tav 3. McGregor 4. Davis although I could easily swap 1 and 2 and swap 3 and 4.1 point

This is really pleasing to note and you could easily make a case for someone like Kamara and Kent as well. Very difficult to choose one player as this season has clearly been a fantastic team effort. In a couple of weeks I'll finalise our own forum votes so it will be interesting to note those results which are free from recency bias.1 point

How are we going to do improve this team if we don’t replace some current starting players? And we have a lot of improving to do.1 point

When he first came in he was excellent, however he has struggled this season a bit, most players take a good while to settle into Scottish football, I do like him but if we were to sell him I don't think we would miss him as much as we would with regards to any of our better players & one I think we could replace fairly easy!. I would like him to stay though, unless we can bring in a player with similar quality and make a good profit on selling Hagi.1 point

Given we've already got Joseph Oluwaseyi Temitope Ayodele-Aribo, Adedapo Awokoya-Mebude and Calvin Bassey Ughelumba, we should be deal with Nathan no problem.1 point

A large percentage of social media names aren't real and it's quite easy to use random IP addresses. Most of the abuse Roofe is getting is from the Czech Republic, according to the report and I'm not sure their Police would pay much attention to a complaint about online abuse from a foreigner.1 point

Be it Instagram or whatever, they have a name and an account, most likely an IP. Report that to police and bar the IP/name/whatever from any future accounts. If they don`t, they are complicit in racism et al, and should be charged for damages instead. That`ll probably teach them.1 point

Agreed 100% On a side note, great to see Falkirk missing out on a playoff place tonight - karma1 point

Stein is a classic example. Won a cup at Dunfermline, changed Hibs into a football team and transformed a bunch of also-rans in the east end. Failed at Leeds but that wasn’t surprising in the circumstances. I wonder what Hibs would have achieved if he had stayed.1 point
