Interesting news indeed. He's only in his early 60s so I'm not sure I'm buying 'retirement', there's clearly been a lot of stuff going on in the background for a few months for this to be delivered. I don't know Dominic McKay but I've not been impressed with how Scottish Rugby has been run in recent years. Their inability to turn Edinburgh into a European powerhouse in club rugby has demonstrated ineptitude on a grand scale. They have been good at finding sponsors and corporate partners, very different demographic though. Be under no mistake though, this is a reaction to what we've achieved on the pitch this season.5 points

I can't see someone from outside of football stepping in and being able to exert the same influence as Lawwell, which has to be a good thing for us.4 points

You are correct, Clerr left her position last Friday. Her current employers are the Scottish Government. According to this morning's Daily Record(printers of ra Sellik View and match programme), a three person panel of former top Referees and players convened this morning to decide upon retrospective action for both Morelos and McGregor. Wouldn't it be simpler if Michael Stewart was given the job? He could begin Sportscene each week, announcing the punishment handed down to Morelos and Rangers. Then, he could explain his reasoning, utilising the national broadcaster's specific visual aides, and conclude by reaffirming his admiration of the Green Brigade(a big knowing wink straight to camera). Ah mean, Michael is doing most of the work, he should be remunerated for it.3 points

i don't see us having Barasic post summer. That lad could go play for anyone.3 points

I think that's him finished at Rangers. Probably for the best.3 points

Katic won't be fully fit until the start of next season. We may see him feature towards the end of this campaign hopefully but he's not going to be properly back to normal until the summer I'd suggest.3 points

rangers should have this on a big TV behind gerrard at the next press conference2 points

Didn’t come as a shock. It’s clear Liewell’s time was up. Once Gerrard (eventually) built his own team I always wondered how they’d react to a serious challenge. But it will be interesting to see where Liewell goes from here. Will he retire? Or will he land one of these EPL jobs his Scottish media cheerleaders had been touting him for in recent years? Never heard of his replacement Dominic McKay( I’m not a rugger chap) but how he handles a lot of the issues Liewell’s left behind will make or break him in a very short space of time. Finding a new manager will be his first task but I’ve always been led to believe that their ‘limited lifespan’ stadium will bite them on the backside in the near future. Be interesting to see if that develops into anything It could be said liewell leaving is now Steven Gerrard’s first major success asRangers manager. Perhaps not a football trophy for the ibrox trophy room but a very major scalp indeed2 points

It's possible we will see several first choice players leave this summer and from a financial standpoint I hope we do. Candidates for the exit door will almost certainly include Kamara, Barisic, Tavernier, Goldson, Morelos - as well as squad players like Jones, Stewart, Edmundson, Middleton, Defoe and Barker. They won't all leave and some that do might not want to but we need the money and we can't compete on personal terms. Gerrard will also know that we can still improve in most positions.2 points

A few interesting score comparisons with 3 differing views (obviously my prediction against the oldies is more reliable ? ? ) West Brom v Fulham: Scott - Away win. Me - Draw. Compo - Home win. Arsenal v Man Utd: Scott - Home win. Me - Draw. Compo - Utd away win. And the most difficult which I did switch. Southampton v Aston Villa: Scott - Draw Me - Home win for the Saints Compo - Away win.2 points

Cosgrove has been awful this season tbh, he looks more like the big cairthorse that he did before his one season wonder period. Hibs will end up with Thumb heid again, once that lot finally realise he's no interested in getting himself fit once again. He'll be even more of a nitwit at Easter road, as hard to believe as it is.2 points

Yes, the SRU is hardly a model of excellence, and, if it ever was, has not been for some time. One wonders, then, why a football club would take someone from there for a very senior position, aside from the obvious. (As an aside, my mate texted me to say that McKay follows La Sturgeon, the pope, and rasellik -an unholy Trinity, some may remark- on Twitter, although he did not clarify the order of precedence, if such there is.)2 points

There's been a suggestion that Lawwell was planning to step away after this season after they achieved their "10". However, you're probably right in that any decision has been removed from him, given the issues that they've been having.2 points

Aesthetically Pleasing. It's a thing of beauty, easy on the eye, just aesthetically pleasing. Of course, I'm talking about Alfie's goal at Easter Road on Wednesday evening. It begins with Morelos a yard from the Hibs corner flag, he passes back up the line to an advancing Tav', and he lays off inside to Jack. Ryan looks up and sees a retreating Steve Davis and when the Northern Irishman receives the ball, he reverse passes to a waiting Aribo on the eighteen yard line. Joe is facing the ball, back to goal, his peripheral vision notes Alfie off to his left and he reverses the ball with one touch from the outside of his left foot. Morelos does not break stride, he steps on to the ball and sweeps past the Hibs keeper at his near post. The goal is the epitome of rapier like penetration. It has added lustre, three Hibees are left lying on the turf. Boy wonder, Ryan Porteous is on his arse, Hanlon is prostrate, and Marciano is getting there, having dived after the ball hits the net. Indeed, for those of us wearing blue tinted glasses, a worthy match winner of a goal. The PQ Gang Hut were initially too busy feasting on their oft served cerebrally hatred of all things Rangers. Morelos is the Devil and Irvine Welsh is the Lord of the Flies. Machetes are being wielded and hungry seagulls await at the four corners of the Leithers' globe ie Newhaven, Portobello, Muirhouse, and Port Seton. Pieces of 'Sticky Bun' are on the menu. Morelos is guilty, they all said it, several times. Who the fcuk is McGregor and what did he do? The goal passed under the radar, well apart from the bit where the guy that notched, should NOT have been on the pitch to score. Gersnetters will not be surprised to find one BBC Radio Scotland panelist, Michael Stewart returned the discussion on three different occasions to the Buff's winner. Immediately after the strike, Michael was unsure in being sure, "there's a mishit pass, it's a bit fortunate". At the end of the game, he returned with, "it's a mishit, a deflection off a Hibs player, and Morelos looked offside". He qualified by adding, "ah need to see it back". Thirty minutes on and he started, "I've not seen a replay, but that goal ........"? It was third time unlucky for Mikey, Big Dick stepped in and took him through it. Morelos was a yard and a half onside because of Porteous, there was no bobble nor deflection, to say otherwise would be to detract from a good goal. Mikey finished with, "as said, ah need to see it back". Sportscene arrived before midnight and again, Alfie was guilty. They also showed McGregor rag dolling Kamara on to the track, before standing on his calf. Chris Iwelumo found McGregor guilty too. Then, wee Jonathon, Shelley Kerr, and big Chris went on to pay true homage to an exquisite Morelos goal. Get in step Mikey?1 point

Whether he'll ever be international class is still very much unknown, but if he keeps scoring goals this season I suspect he'll get his chance, we're not exactly spoilt for choice up front. I've been impressed that he's been able to step up each season to a higher level. From East Stirling to Raith Rovers to Dunfermline and then Hibs, where he's currently joint top goal scorer in the SPFL this season. Hibs have been our most difficult domestic fixture this season, a draw and two 1-0 victories. I don't think any of their players were awful against us. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't swap him for Roofe or Itten, but I'm not surprised he's attracting interest and as a young Scot I wonder if we've considered him.1 point

Not a great idea for him, from what I hear when he was at Killie he was never away from Middlesborough after games. Another good player wasted by his own inability to take his career seriously.1 point
-
Yup, in that last game he was clean through and bore down on our goal with the conviction of a junior centre hauf! ?1 point

he said players know where they are putting there feet and can avoid players. Does it matter which incident he was discussing at the time. He clearly knows where he is putting his feet. Alfie who knows what he can and can't do.1 point

I read this morning that Birmingham have made a bid for Nisbet from Hibs. I've been impressed with him when I've seen Hibs this season, thought he linked up play really well on Wednesday but fell away after half time. His career is interesting. Released by Thistle then working his way through the leagues at various different sides and now looking like he's going to the English Championship for a couple of million and possibly the Scotland squad for the Euros. Losing him will weaken Hibs and if Aberdeen sell Cosgrove too then I suspect Celtic won't have any problems securing second. Shame.1 point

I wonder if the "club for everyone" (or whatever lie it currently employs to describe itself) considered any BAME, or women, or LBGT candidates. Another white, middle class male, of a particular religious background, in a senior position does nothing for diversity, or inclusiveness, but does send out a signal, as easily read as a puff of smoke from the Vatican lum.1 point

So he can now take up the role of SPFL AND SFA boss full time and correct the obvious failings of Doncaster and Co. this season.1 point

I didnt realise Balogun was that age. Considering Simpson is 24 it seems like its one for the long term. I am a Katic fan, the lengthy spell out will mean he is maybe off the pace for a while - which you have mentioned - but I do hope he gets back to the level of performance he is capable of. The defence has almost been flawless this season so to be strengthening it is interesting to see what develops but its good to see the club thinking ahead with the aim no doubt being Champions League Group Stages. Tavernier top goalscorer / Goldson immense and a leader and contributing with goals / Barasic best crosser in the league / McGregor as awesome as ever / 7 league goals conceded is ridiculous.1 point

Having watched the game back, it's hard to pick anyone other than Kamara - he was on a different level last night. However, it was a very good team performance with Helander, Goldson, Davis, Kent all putting in excellent performances. Also worth mentioning the part the subs played last night, they closed the game out brilliantly.1 point

I think he's being bought to boost the homegrown players and to replace Stewart/Jones. Nothing to get excited about.1 point
