According to The Times, once a newspaper of record, but, as they used to say, "You let wan in......." Perhaps it is just that rasellik has had the Transfer Window smashed open (presumably by the green brigade). Non-stop Roofe leads the way for Celtic ‘He’s like the Duracell bunny,’ says Gerrard Michael Grant Friday December 04 2020, 12.00am, The Times https://www.thetimes.co.uk/edition/scotland/non-stop-roofe-leads-the-way-for-celtic-b0hfv2vnk Kemar Roofe is drawing superlatives from manager Steven Gerrard Rangers’ glowing statistics are well-documented but Steven Gerrard likes an entirely different set of numbers which go unreported. His team is unbeaten in 24 games, through to the last 32 of the Europa League, is top of the Premiership by 11 points, and still has four fronts to fight on at home and abroad. But Gerrard — yesterday named SPFL Premiership manager of the month for November, with James Tavernier taking the player’s award — is equally impressed by other figures. “I have to pay credit to the fitness department and the sports science lads,” he said. “The numbers that we are hitting right now are really impressive. Kemar Roofe certainly helps on that. He doesn’t stop, he is like a Duracell bunny. He is hitting numbers that you don’t really expect from a forward player. He is running more than the midfielders and running the most in the team at the moment. “He is really setting the example in terms of what we need to put into a game to get the results we are getting. Everyone is hitting impressive numbers, but Roofe has raised the bar with the last couple of performances he has put in.” Roofe did not score in the 3-2 win over Standard Liege at Ibrox last Thursday night, which eased Rangers into the last 32 of the Europa League with a game to spare, but his intelligence, movement and technique were again impressive in a powerful second half. Rangers’ opponents will be drawn on December 14 and will be influenced by whether they proceed as group winners or runners-up. On TalkSPORT yesterday Roofe suggested the other 31 will respect them. “We have to take it game by game but what we’ve shown so far is that we are good team, especially in the Europa League,” he said. “I think teams and players will start taking notice of that.” Rangers face Ross County in Dingwall tomorrow determined to extend an unbeaten run which includes 15 league games, one in the Betfred Cup, three Europa League qualifiers and five group games since the start of the season. “I still think there is more to come,” said Gerrard. “They’re in a good place. The challenge for me is to try and keep them all healthy and keep the squad good, try to offload people at the right time and remain as fresh as we can because the schedule is about to get even more challenging over the next six to eight weeks. “The pitches are going to change, the weather is changing, as you saw last night, [and] the challenge for us is to stay where we are for as long as we can and can we show as a group that we are capable of going the distance.” Continuing in Europe will be financially rewarding but Gerrard said of the January window: “I predict that there will be a few more going the opposite way than coming in the door. I don’t think we need a number of incomings, if you like, but we might need maybe one or two to try and freshen it up.” County would have “more belief, more confidence” about them after their stunning Betfred Cup victory away to Celtic last weekend but Gerrard already had been impressed by them when they lost 2-0 at Ibrox in October. Ryan Jack, Filip Helander and Nikola Katic are all still out for Rangers. If County concede a penalty they may as well head towards the centre circle and prepare for their restart. Tavernier has scored nine out of nine this season, among his 15 goals overall. When he was taken off penalty duty last season, after uncharacteristic misses, he committed to improving. “I just kept on working on it after training,” he said. “Free kicks and penalties. That’s something I’ve always done after training. “Even when I wasn’t on them I kept on working hard to improve myself. I always go into a season wanting double figures on both goals and assists. The boys are really performing well up top. The movement they are creating and the problems they are creating for defenders is giving us the opportunity to have penalties.”4 points

The word platitude sums it up. I see our players are wearing rainbow laces tomorrow. Another of society's ills fixed by footballers making a forced symbolic gesture.3 points

In that case I stand up as a confirmed racist because I see knee-taking as another example of using contrived victimhood to achieve personal justification, usually perpetrated by weak woke arseholes. I'm convinced most players only do it because they're terrified of being labelled racist. This kind of social bullying is out of hand and few seem to have the guts to stand up to it. The sooner we get fans back in stadiums to re-introduce reality, the sooner we'll see an end to this demeaning crap.3 points

Finally managed to embed a tweet! Thought this one was worth the effort, fantastic audio and shows everything about what we are all about this season. The hardest part of this clip for me is to stop watching it, I’m hooked on it!3 points

I would think most players probably have had enough also but players and more so clubs dont want to be seen as being the first to stop which is why the league should officially make the call for it to end.2 points

For goodness sake why all the talk of selling at Xmas?. Surely if we keep them all they will be of more value in the summer when holders of a title and cup medals.?2 points

Did not realize that 3rd placed teams / failures from the CL get into the Europa League. As if they haven`t received enough cash from UEFA already ...2 points

Absolutely brilliant. Both the clip and being able to embed a tweet at our age2 points

Splitting hairs here but maybe a split end could be off-side as well. If it takes a television still of a slide rule decision then we may as well do away with on field referees etc. and let technology rule things.2 points

Apparently O'Merta FC has refused access to The Courier AND the Press Assocn. Wtf is it up to? More pertinently, what is the response from other outlets, reporters, and the NUJ?1 point

It's tricky. Davis was good second half, but not so much the first. Arfield was quite quiet, I thought, but then stepped up second half. Kent worked his socks off, and slotted into the 4-4-2 and helped out a lot defensively when it was needed. Morelos worked hard too, but nothing came off for him. I don't think there were any real standouts, but Kent did more than anyone else, for me, so I'll pop for him.1 point

Arfield for me, although yet again there are a few candidates for MOTM, Tav! Kamara, Davis, however I thought Arfield has been outstanding lately and was involved in everything again vs' Standard and his goal was a cracker, he started the move then finished the move.1 point

Topping this group would be absolutely massive , getting seeded gives us a massive chance of getting to the last 16 , that’s possibly our lever right now , last 8 though and anything can happen as we have previously seen .1 point

Winning the group would give us a great chance of progressing. Second place would make it very hard.1 point

Will Cosgrove cross over toward the crash barriers as the Saints go marching in ? Peter needs all the friends he can muster........1 point

I note Peter has ordered the construction of a metal fence around ra Stade de Gadd. Apparently, the thought of revolting Green Brigaders has stimulated this action. St Johnstone, a team undefeated in the last eleven games are visiting the chamber of secrets to face ra Sellik, two wins in the last ten matches. Peter appears fearful1 point

I signed up to it i did so as i believe fan ownership is vital up to a certain point. The same reason I backed the RST all those years ago. We nearly lost Ibrox not so long ago. It's money I can afford and if rangers have a share issue i can match it with them. No question Club 1872 has a lot of work to do to improve governance.1 point

I'm on holiday this week so not online as much as I'd like. That has allowed me some time to think about the debate. Firstly, as always, I expect people to respect differing points of view and avoid playing the man, not the ball. We all want to same outcome here: a successful and sustainable football club. FWIW, I think both camps make very decent points. King absolutely deserves our respect and thanks but I'm unconvinced he - or at least Club1872 - deserve our £13million instead of the club at this stage. Nevertheless let's not forget King is, especially after tonight's result, offering a discount and a level of shareholding that can protect supporter interests (25%+1 or not actually). That deserves some positive acknowledgement alongside the suspicion I've noted. I'm obviously a supporter of fan ownership but at the scale involved at a club like Rangers (come on we're talking tens of millions) we need everyone to be beyond reproach. That means transparent fan organisations, credible board representation and an understanding shareholding base when it comes to dealing with day-to-day business and the privacies/politics involved. We're still some way from the latter two points but without the clarity mentioned above they'll never be achieved. Surely they must recognise that? There are valid doubts in that regard and doesn't necessarily mean a luck of trust but, in actual fact, when we talk about #neveragain it means recognising we're all accountable and our intentions worthy of examination. Finally, the incumbent board are in a difficult position here. They can't openly advise a course of action but they should find a way of publicising their thoughts that can traverse the bizarre battle-lines we often see across forums, websites and other 'fan media'.1 point
