  1. In a tight 2 horse race, draws are as good as defeats IMO. We just need to make it count tomorrow now and keep applying pressure. Our fate is firmly in our own hands.

  2. I always find it strange when we laugh at them before the final whistle. They get shitloads of late goals/winners.

  3. Still, they dropped 2 points, makes no difference though, we still need to win tomorrow to pile on the pressure. They're stumbling badly keep pressuring them and they'll collapse! 55 on its way if we can keep it going, it doesn't matter what they do now if we keep doing our thing!

  4. I know what you mean but they've won every trophy since we returned to the to top flight (and will easily beat Hearts in the SC), continue to get important late goals and we have completely fell apart post-New Year both seasons under SG. I'm waiting til it's done before I get on the banter wagon.

  7. Strange that you (by that I mean the collective "we") actually prefer a draw to a loss - but I completely agree - the longer Lennon stays the better it is for us IMHO.

  9. They are always good for a late goal so I can't say it was unexpected, but any dropped points against SPL opposition is great. Lennon will be under serious pressure now, a dire European season so far and dropping points in the league. We need to do the business against Aberdeen now.

  10. Michael Stewart never fails to demonstrate what a bitter man he is. He's totally incapable of objectivity or even stating his opinions with a facade of diplomacy. Someone with such a publicly partisan political and football outlook shouldn't be employed by a state funded broadcaster to analyse Scottish football.

  17. I am contending that it was a good thing that they came back from 2 down for a draw - now Celtic will persevere with Lennon instead of getting rid. The longer he is there the more points they will drop and the better it will be for us

  18. Breaking news reference Scotland under 21s testing revealing positive tests and those traveling on coaches and aircraft in proximity to those positively tested, having to quarantine. Two Motherwell players and a player who was at 'Well until recently(Turnbull of Celtic) have been ordered to quarantine. Three Aberdeen players have been ordered to do likewise. The SFA have issued a statement assuring strict adherence, "on coach and aircraft manifests". Imagine, two groupings of players from two clubs sitting next to each other on the bus and plane? Billy Dodds has ranted about infection being down to your luck. Big Dick is fulminating, "there is undiluted fury among the clubs". Michael Stewart is talking about the end of winter, lighter nights, and vaccines being available. Neil Lennon was interviewed, he is angry, "it's a shambles", Gary Holt reminds us it's a pandemic, "don't need to blame anyone", and 'Well's Robertson is unhappy at the timings of passed information. We are promised Derek McInnes later, no doubt the source of undiluted fury? Gersnetters will not be surprised to find BBC Radio Scotland are providing live commentary from Easter Road. Paul Mitchell and Michael Stewart are present to reveal all the happenings from the Hibs/Sellik game. Understandable, both Edinburgh based. Pat Bonner is also in Leith, and he has described traveling through from Newton Mortgage to the Capital. Everything in the west is closed and he is surprised to see busy Edinburgh restaurants and shops. I thought our Dearest First Minister had told us Police Scotland would prosecute unnecessary travel? Couldn't they send Pat to a game in Renfrewshire/Glasgow? It's as well the soothing balm of Rangers financial results have been revealed, "their income is up, yet their losses are up too, we need to dig down into these figures" says mean bean counter, Pat Bonner. Big Dick is already feeling better, "and they made over £20 million from the Europa Cup". There, there, the fury is already being diluted.

  19. The club in their accompanying statement said that Covid will hit revenues by up to £10 million. However, the directors, Park and Bennett (I think it was Bennett) have guaranteed funding the club for the next two seasons, between informal and formal debt facilities. Given they are Rangers men we should be fine. We also could sell a player or two if needed.

  20. I’d imagine, at this point in time, seeing where we are in the league, and how much importance seems to be given to stopping 10IAR, that we would look to keep Morelos until the end of the season. Or possibly even a sale and immediate loan back. if we sold him in January it definitely weakens us - but when Roofe is fully fit and functioning I think Morelos would struggle to displace Roofe - unless SG plays both at same time - which is what I would be doing just now.

  23. ... if only they would give the Yahoo's accounts a similar minute attention. As per usual, while this is "interesting", I leave the business stuff in the hands of the board (which is now no longer just in the hands of one person) and assume they know what they are doing. Let's hope we snatch 55 and navigate a passage to the CL-group stages, as that would essentially wipe out any financial difficulties for some time to come. Likewise, Alfredo's form of late won't be missed by his former suitors, nor any new ones.

  27. Aberdeen are not Barcelona but they’re a lot better than we give them credit for. They know how to beat teams at their own level and how to make it hard for better sides. They even managed a point from celtic. If he’s fit Roofe’s got to play. Morelos can knock them down. Roofe can bang them in. Miller and Brand?

  28. The criticism of McBurnie is ridiculous and you can't help feel his stated club allegiances play a part. It's not like he's keeping someone better out of the team, when Dykes is fit he plays and McBurnie is the sub, it's hard to think of a Scottish striker any better after that. Griffiths, if fit and in form, would probably be picked ahead of him, and it would be hard to argue with that based on footballing ability. But Griffiths is clearly not fit or in any kind of form and it underlines the lack of quality that he's even making the squad currently. The players themselves can see Griffiths isn't fit and must wonder why someone with his attitude is making the squad far less getting game time. For me that's a far bigger talking point for the media, but I won't hold my breath waiting for someone to raise it. In reality Scotland played 3 matches against average opposition, they drew one and lost two, scoring only one goal in the process. Our qualification, whilst very welcome, has helped mask reality. Richard Gordon in particular was highly critical of McBurnie, yet strangely uncritical of the manager who chose and played him. Surprising...

  29. It's another big match (aren't they all). Aberdeen are having a good season and have some decent players, as well as a manager who knows how to set up not to lose. Having said that, we are also having a good season and are in good form and have players who are well capable of scoring goals against far better sides than the sheep. Hopefully the international break doesn't negatively impact us and we turn up and win (an early goal would help). I'd play Kent, Hagi and Aribo behind Morelos.

  30. Steve Clarke is a Genius. The international break lasted a fortnight. Scotland played three games, drew 1-1 in Serbia, and lost 1-0 in both Slovakia and Israel. The Serbian game was a final qualifier for Euro'20, thus went to penalties and Scotland triumphed 5-4. Steve Clarks has managed to accomplish something that George Burley, Craig Levein, Walter Smith, Alex McLeish, and Gordon Strachan could not. Our qualification has been backdoor, and the result of converting ten penalties in a row. Both Israel and Serbia could only manage eight. Steve Clarke is a genius. Steve does not have to satisfy the conditions laid down by ultra-nationalists such as Cosgrove. He demanded constantly both McLeish and Strachan sell their family homes in southern England, "the national manager must live in Scotland". The former Killie boss has kept his family home in southern England and Cosgrove says nothing. Of course, Steve has already thanked Chelsea for allowing his escape from vile sectarianism thirty-odd years past. Maybe McLeish and Strachan attended the wrong school? Keeping the hate warm during long international breaks demands greater creativity. DrStu' has long been a hater of Oli McBurnie. He has taken a number of opportunities to explain his sneering attitude. Despite McBurnie moving clubs on a few occasions for an accumulative £20 million and notching almost 50 goals in over a hundred appearances, Cosgrove is at pains to let the listeners know, "it's not because he's a Rangers supporter". No, no, and thrice no, McBurnie is simply not good enough for the national team. Unsurprisingly, fellow members of the Gang Hut agree with DrStu'. Michael Stewart took his disgust public on Twitter, Big Dick proclaimed McBurnie as being, "disinterested". Ryan Jack's last two performances have confirmed something I have long thought, once he settles into the demands, the slippers and pipe will appear. Now, this is awkward for the Gang Hut, the only H-u-n in the team is performing. McBurnie is an easier target and he supports the H-u-ns. Oli took to Twitter and replied to Stewart with a single word reply, "Helmut". Steve Clarke protects his players and he briefed off the record, asking for the Gang Hut to lay off. Remember, Steve is on record as publicly thanking Chelsea for removing him from Scotland. There's a piece of footage doing the rounds, it's recorded inside PQ during the Serbian penalty shoot-out. Two lines of chairs, the back three contain Steven Thomson, Neil McCann, and Billy Dodds. The front two have Tam Cowan and Stuart Cosgrove. As Marshall sts himself for the Serbian fifth penalty, Neil McCan is already off his seat, clapping his hands in encouragement. As our Goalie saves, there is a back row explosion, the front row has Cowan on his feet punching the air. Cosgrove remains seated and raises an arm. On Saturday, Cowan was speculating on how long it will take before the BBC Scotland schedules have both Craig Levein and Michael Stewart in the same studio? This enthuses DrStu' to run interference. Again remember, it's only a couple of weeks past where Levein calmly labelled Stewart, "a Bully" on their show. Cosgrove decided there was even more tension to be mined between Neil McCann and Steven Thomson, "you have to look closely, but there's something cooking there". Neil and Steven were Rangers team mates, playing together in a Treble winning season. I wonder what we'll see or hear first, McCann and Thommo' having a spat, or Cosgrove getting out his chair. Fast approaching his seventieth year and the hate continues to rip out of him, that's what gets DrStu' out of his chair.

  33. Goodbye Donalda, Hello Steve. Half a century past, there was an annoying chart single(weren't they all) by Cliff Richard, 'Goodbye Sam, Hello Samantha'. The gist was Cliff leaving the boys behind in favour of girls. Also, he waved cheerio to both Joe and Lou for the delights of Joanne and Louise. Confusing really, given Cliff's public admittance of asexuality, the colostomy bag, and his then decade long correspondence with both Kray twins. In the hypocrisy stakes, it's small potatoes compared to the Beeb's tolerance of Jimmy Saville's predatorial behaviour and subsequent cover up. Auntie Beeb is a continuum, soon to be a century of principle. You pay your license fee and look what you receive in return; several national radio stations, dozens of regional radio stations, plus a similar division of TV provision, and the jewel in the crown, the world service. Outstanding value, not replicated any where else in the world. The vast majority of those employed by the BBC believe in public service broadcasting, proud to provide the service. There have been historic notable exceptions, the afore mentioned Saville and the Beeb's live coverage of the Police raiding Sir Cliff's Berkshire home. Did the BBC satisfy public interest? Last month, BBC Scotland announced a substantial loss, the two year old BBC Scotland TV Channel was crashing and burning. The flag ship show, 'the Nine' was on occasion attracting under 5,000 viewers.Voluntary redundancies were required and a couple of dozen well kent, most experienced broadcasters decided to take the packages and run. Gordon Brewer, Isabel Fraser, Brian Taylor, Reevel Alderson, Kenneth MacDonald, Bill Whiteford, ...... etc left the PQ building. Chief Political Editor, Brian Taylor departed in a spirit of bonhommie, still flashing his Arab credentials, but not referring anymore to his time at St Andrews Uni' with Alex Salmond. Bill Whiteford withdrew, continuing to fly the flag of principle high. Bill Whiteford presented Drivetime for two decades, interviewed all the political heavyweights with the same gusto, he wanted to inform his listeners. Educated in Aberdeen, living in Stirlingshire, his interests are hillwalking and motorbikes. I have never heard him express any interest in football. On Friday morning, he presented his last show and his guest was newly appointed Director of BBC Scotland Steve Carson. He succeeded Donalda MacKinnon. Listeners questions were interspersed with those of the Host, and BBC bias was soon to the fore. Whiteford set up Carson by reminding him Rangers had won their Europa Cup game the night before 1-0, further the club's Europa record so far, was a perfect six points. Bill continued, "why would Rangers supporters listen to BBC Scotland when we give them no coverage, we have no interviews with the manager or the players"? He pointed out a competitor, STV had the interviews exploiting a local good news story. At this point, I should mention Whiteford had Tweeted his farewell message, "that's me aff then" alongside two photographs, one of the PQ Clydeside building and the other being the American Embassy in Saigon in 1975. Depicted is the last Huey helicopter leaving the roof of the Embassy. As the rotary wing began to flare, Steve Carson began to splutter. He grasped for, "it's a matter of huge regret" and, "we are making every endeavour to resolve". Choppers have a real whine going as the wing bites purchase from the air, not nearly as high pitched as Steve Carson answering a perfectly reasonable question. Rangers supporters, particularly the elderly, the infirm, those in remote areas, .... etc all pay their license fees, why NO SERVICE? The Gang Hut cabal will love Steve as much as they admired Donalda. He was Head of TV at RTE, married long term RTE Presenter, Miriam O'Callaghan, they have eight children. I suspect uttering regret, endeavour, and resolve will be Steve's comfort blankets? The situation at PQ is akin to the Saville/Richard situations, a cabal have been allowed to deliberately manufacture a situation whereby only those taking the rite of passage get a slice of the economic pie. Inside BBC Scotland, rattling it into the H-u-ns improves your standard of life. Well done Bill Whiteford, a principled man.

  34. I like Levein, reminds me of Jim McLean, not a manager I'd want at Rangers, but speaks his own mind, not what he thinks people want to hear/career advancement nonsense. They were spunking off about Ross McCrorie a few weeks back and how we should have kept him. Levein squarely told them that was rubbish, he'd been allowed to leave Ibrox because he simply wasn't good enough for Rangers, and being good enough for Aberdeen was something completely different. Certainly took the wind from Dick's sails.

  35. Currently, Craig Levein is on BBC Radio Scotland as a guest of DrStu' and Cowan. Levein is shooting from the hip, targets are squealing aaahya, when hit. Mike McCurry has been peppered, Ann Budge lionised, Graeme Hogg got what he deserved, .................... etc. DrStu' prompts Levein, "your relationship with Michael Stewart"? Craig flicked off the safety, levelled the weapon, and sustained his fore finger on the trigger, "I never liked him, watching him with the young players, he would shout at them if they made a mistake, shout at them if they didn't pass to him, if he made a mistake, he was beyond criticism. He was a bully. I have said before, he played for Hearts at a rate of one pound per week, still the worst value of any player I signed". Mikey has been hit with so much lead, I suspect it would be easier to pick him up with a magnet?

  37. Managers are taught various things while sitting their licences. One thing that gets a lot of focus is media management. Neil Lennon demonstrated this superbly last week when he took a public swipe at Maurice Ross. The media loved that story, it dominated the back pages and the football news cycle for a few days after. It's clever management from Lennon because it took the focus away from him, his players and their run of results (2 losses and a draw is apparently grounds for dismissal in some quarters now). He was at it again yesterday when post match he had a go at the referee accusing him of having a poor match although he was unable to provide specifics when pushed on it. While not drawing the fire away as much as the Mo Ross outburst it has helped muddy the waters slightly and given the media something to write about other than Celtic shipping 3 goals two matches in a row. I mention this because the next logical step in this deflection is falling out, publicly, with a journalist or media channel. This often helps galvanise support behind the manager seeing as so many are distrustful of the media these days, and again it fills airwaves, blogs and columns as opposed to perhaps more pressing on-field matters. Of course if Lennon really was angry with Ross he could have called him up and told him so, but that's not what this is about. Celtic are feeling some pressure for arguably the first time in 10 years. Rangers haven't yet stuttered (although there's still a long way to go), Celtic's form is poor, their summer buys haven't yet gelled and they're feeling a draft financially for the first time in a decade or so. Should things continue in this manner expect a circling of the wagons down Parkhead way. BBC Scotland though can't afford to alienate Celtic, losing access to one half of the big two is careless but losing access to both would be problematic and difficult for senior management to ignore. So I expect a softening in criticism towards Lennon, perhaps fire aimed at specific players instead, referees certainly and perhaps the SPFL and SFA should events offer them up. Many of us have wondered how Celtic would react to some sustained pressure. When Deila's Celtic side were played off the park by Warburton's in the cup semi Celtic responded by replacing the Norwegian with Brendan Rodgers. That seems unlikely this time for various reason. Money for one, plus this Rangers side isn't just out of the Championship and filled with free transfers from the English lower leagues, we're significantly better than then. It's a dilemma for BBC Scotland, well you reap what you sow, eventually.
