  1. The current Scottish football Compliance Officer, Claire Whyte has indicated she wants to avail herself of a new, exciting opportunity in the New Year. The SFA have her resignation, however Claire has assured Ian Maxwell she will remain in post until her successor is appointed. When appointed, Claire was wife of then Head Teacher at St Cadoc's Primary School. St Cadoc's football club has largely filled the vacuum left by the demise of Celtic Boys' Club. Claire and her husband had season tickets at Parkhead for many seasons. Further, she was employed as a Solicitor at Sellik's Lawyers, Harper McLeod. Both of Claire's predecessors as Compliance Officer had similar backgrounds. Tony McGlennan was also a former Sellik season ticket holder and as recently as March of this year, went public in his desire to see his beloved Sellik crowned champions in a Covid suspended season. Tony believed there were no obstacles to the award of the league flag, based on sporting merit. Tony succeeded Vincent Lunny, another former Sellik season ticket holder. Vincent is on record as saying his appointment to the designation, "was down to pure luck". So, who will be the next beneficiary of Peter's pure luck? Below is the approved short list : 1. Jum Spence. 2. Gerry Adams. 3. Angela Haggerty. 4. Cardinal O'Brien.

  2. Michael Stewart must be in contention, given he prompts most of the cases for consideration (via Sportscene) anyway.

  3. Will there be a replacement CO? The SFA were having redundancies were they not? This could be one of them. Not exactly an essential role is it if all things are considered?

  4. That's the one I found ... We went to Wolverhampton We went to Wolverhampton, not so very long ago And to the local Englishmen, we did put on a show. We marched along 10,000 strong, you'll know us by our noise, For we're the lads, the lads who follow Rangers. So on Rangers on, victory is nigh. From the terraces you will hear the cry. ’Come away the Rangers!’, you'll know us by our noise, For we're the lads, the lads who follow Rangers.

  5. ... fair enough. You will note the absence of all the (tons of) Loyalist and "banter" songs (Nakamura ate my dog; Jorge Cadette, he's got hair like spagetti et al), as well as those with no "direct" connection to Rangers, e.g. Penny Arcade, Simply the Best and the like. ? And methinks it depends of the intent of the book, rather than how many songs are in there. The above of mine was collected with purely football related songs in mind.

  6. For some reason I feel slightly uneasy about this. Perhaps it's because football songs and chants belong in the stands and pubs, not in a book. They're fluid and often irreverent, open to spontaneous change. They seldom stand still and several versions can exist. More than anything else, they're aural rather than visual. Once you put them in a book you cast them in someone's idea of what they should be and it's almost never what you'll hear where fans gather.

  8. Put in a couple of fictional over-qualified CVs, but with very different sounding primary and secondary schools, and see which of your fictional characters gets a call to come for an interview.

  16. OK I'm fascinated to see what I must have missed. Tell me when we ever made it out of the group stages. Did I imaging Peru and Iran. Or Costa Rica and Morocco? Eight WC finals and failed at the first hurdle each time. The odd creditable match changes nothing - in a results business we long since passed the stage where qualification for a tournament should be celebrated as an achievement. Wales, and Northern Ireland have achieved what we still haven't been able to. When we do, that will be the time to dance in the streets.
