Update. I was wrong when I said we had never played Millwall Just stumbled across this Millwall Athletic 5, Rangers 1 1st April 1899 RGS Jimmy Oswald Att, 7000 The match appears to be part of a wee tour of England, we beat Liverpool and Southampton either side of the Millwall game.4 points

Same old movie. Waited until the last ten minutes to show a bit of urgency. Failure to win these games is why we have won nothing and will continue to win nothing under Gerrard. Hes turning into Warburton mark II - plan B is to make plan A slightly better or not as is the case most of the time3 points

Wasn't until injury time we decided to up the pace of the game or even go a bit more direct which seemed to work once or twice. Before that continual slow passes between the centre backs and the midfield pivots does not break a low block. When will the manager learn the lesson we need to sacrifice one of Jack or Kamara in these games. He talks about the players being brave on the ball, he needs to be brave in selection.3 points

Terrible performance, hope the players get a good boot up the arse from the manager for their woeful attitude today3 points

The Hollicom Pool of Talent? Where to begin? Wednesday has 3 SPFL fixtures, Rangers are at home against St Johnstone so PQ sat Billy Dodds on the naughty step to watch Rangers TV. DrStu' was at pains to tell us all that Clive Tyldesley had a fifty a day habit of mentioning England's 1966 World Cup win during each commentary. Billy did not confirm, in fact said very little other than to offer brief half-time and full time reports. Pat Bonner was at a loss, used to talking exclusively Sellik, he was sent to Fir Park. The question of ra Sellik possibly fielding an illegible player at Rugby Park was NEVER going to be aired on PQ, so Pat had no Hollicom provided script. He observed the faceless cardboard cut-outs in the Fir Park stands and decided they were away fans and they outnumbered the home supporters? Big Dick had to intervene, of course he had made a complete cunt of the faceless cut-outs at the weekend, he thought they were representative of dead folk . Motherwell have entered into an agreement with a mental health charity and agreed to the faceless effigies to represent those folk in sufferance who go missing each and every year. Maybe PQ should consider replacing both Pat and Big Dick with faceless cardboard cut-outs? You would think Pat would be comfortable with closed stands, he was working for BBC Scotland during Ronnie Deila's tenure at ra Stade de Gadd. Wednesday night's Sportscene also drew on the Hollicom pool of talent. The two guests were Stephen McGinn, grandson of former Sellik Chair, Jack McGinn and James McFadden. Last night's Sportscene had Julie Fleeting rawking the big white sannies. Clearly, Sellik's TV's Michael Stewart had paddled across the Olympic size pool in the sannies and provided Julie with the necessary flotation. Tune in to tonight's show to find out who is replete in the perfectly balanced Hollicom provided footwear? If you read back on this thread, a big part of it was the weekly media review on PQ, involving DrStu' and Dr Eamonn O'Neill. A decade of no balance saw the show moved off the national megaphone, and on to Talk Media Podcast. Friday had Angela Haggerty on with ra twa' nationalists, ooooohhh all warm and fuzzy. They discussed John Swinney and the SQA, and all arrived at the conclusion that John should not resign, should not face a vote of no confidence, because the people of Scotland don't really want it. The tartan trio are imbued with such arrogance that they speak for the common weal. Angela's Twitter feed is excellent, everyday we see another Sellik minded type stepping soaking wet out of the Hollicom pool. As well as Cosgrove and O'Neill being bigged up by Angela, she reveals her new born son, Francis has former Sellik View Editor, Kevin McKenna as his Godfather. Of course, Kevin was allowed to resign that particular designation, in light of the revelation he thought the IRA bombing of the Enniskillen cenotaph was, "a legitimate act of war". Recently, a number of photographs have surfaced of Kevin happily posing with a number of Sellik Boys' club officials, currently in the jail. Further, the benefits of swimming in the Hollicom pool has seen both DrStu' and Kevin pitch up as columnists on the National. Yesterday's Off the Ball had Davie Farrell as the guest, today's show has Connie McLaughlin as the contributor. Even when Sellik are not playing, you have to establish your Sellik supporting credentials to have an opportunity at a PQ standard of life. Michael Stewart appeared on Sportsound on Saturday, he banged on about the unfair nature of the SPFL's dealings with the Aberdeen Eight and Bolingoli. Why were Hearts told to cease training? Further, why was Hull City training at the same facility in Edinburgh allowed to continue training? Well, he would NOT be allowed to voice off on such matters on Sellik TV. Actually, on PQ no one listened. Finally, a wee bon mot from yesterday. Jason Leitch was on for 40 minutes again, I don't know if he's dropped the Professor bit or maybe the SQA have downgraded him? However, he provided the Scottish Government guidelines across the spectrum. The question not asked by DrStu', was asked by Big Dick right at the end of his contribution. He wanted to know if anything was stopping Hearts moving to Hull to continue their training? A stuttering Jason offered, "the First Minister wouldn't like it". Anyways, ra Sellik are back on CL qualifying duty during midweek. The Blarney Bhoys will be reunited at ra Stade de Gadd and no one will deviate from the Hollicom provided script. The Icelanders will also be told not to even think about raising the question of ineligibility of players. The precedence set by ra Sellik against both Legia Warsaw and Sion must not be recalled. The Hollicom pool surface must always remain calm.3 points

Today's game (and games of this ilk) are all about tempo for me. My team talk would focus on going for it from the first whistle and winning the game by half time. No more probing with sideways passing and let's see what happens. Go for the jugular from the off with quick passing from Hagi, Kent and Aribo. There is nothing more disheartening than going in 0-0 at HT away to Livingston. You just know the 2nd half will be a frought affair with our players playing under unnecessary pressure. Games like today have been our downfall over the last few seasons so let's get out there and make a marker while the mhanks are on the naughty step.3 points

Livi's argument would be that they are not paid to entertain us - they are paid to get results2 points

Kamara is just too slow. There was a point where he was on the left wing with Borna infront of him ready to run on, and he just hesitates for half a second before passing by which point the moment has gone - that half a second is what lets Borna get forward and put a cross in. We are always wasting half a second before passing, all over the park, but Kamara is particularly guilty of it. It's extremely frustrating. Passing to feet slowly isn't going to break anyone down.2 points

Must admit I never witnessed any of this “intentionally encouraging violent play” which was stated. Wonder if Gary Holt got the message ? Livvy player within the confines of the game and I can’t say I saw even one foul from them that would constitute violent play, let along intentional violent play. Maybe JFK’s crystal ball needs some cleaning ?2 points

Yep, but we also knew that is what we were going to be up against. We knew we would have to break down a low block with virtually the full team in that low block. We waited too long to change things. But even then we had a couple of chances that on another day would have been taken. Bad day at the office but nothing lost. Just disappointing to not apply pressure to Celtic.2 points

As someone who has "liked" Chelsea since early 80's and who has always had a warm welcome whenever I've visited / attended Chelsea games, historically, if Rangers have a relationship with an English (or London club) it's undoubtedly with Arsenal!2 points

What would call a person who continuously doubles down on failed tactics? A genius? A premier tactician? Quality? How many times you watched this same game over the past three years? How many times has it been the EXACT same thing? And guess what...the result we got last year...we're gonna get again. Rangers fans need to stop lovin the car...and start lookin at the performance.2 points

It's kind of disappointing that we are squandering this opportunity to put pressure on Celtic so early. In fact it's very disappointing but it feels very inevitable.2 points

Hagi has been very disappointing. He's clearly a talented lad but absolutely nothing is coming off for him. In saying that, at least he has put pressure on the opposition after goving away the ball, he's trying but it's just not working.2 points

Didn’t realise that Celtic’s next match is away to Dundee Utd. As much as I dislike Dundee Utd they have started very well on their return to the top flight and that won’t be an easy game for Celtic. All the more important that we win our next two games, put the points on the board, and apply as much pressure as humanly possible to them.2 points

Guardiola's fault then. There's no chance UEFA will retain the one leg knock out. The CL is run by the big clubs in the big leagues and this would only lessen their chances of continually getting to the latter stages.2 points

What do people think of this "knock out" format? I know it was a compromise born out of Covid, but I have enjoyed all 4 ties immensely. Just wonder if it destroys some of the negativity of the two leg approach??2 points

The number of times you are screaming (at the TV ) give it now and give it there. it takes about a minute longer and three passes later to get to where the fecking thing should of went in the first place. I think what is more annoying for me is, we watched this a year ago and, probably two years ago and the same things happen week after week after week1 point

No solutions that were used ... up till the last mins of extra time. We know what will unfold, so why not pack the attack and midfield. I do not know what SG expected from Livi today, but after 30 mins it was clear that nothing was the answer. We should have removed one DM from the fray early doors, send on a winger and/or striker. Likewise, Arfield brought no threat whatsoever, why keep him or actually play him? Of course, you do expect a fight from Livi, but there was none forthcoming. I dare not to hear his comments on the game, for I reckon they will be the same as ever after such games. Which makes it even more frustrating. The only consolation is that they will make it equally hard to the Scum.1 point

I've been saying for ages that SG is just a slightly better version. The problems are very similar.1 point

The way we play at present from the back creates an imbalance in the forward areas. We have Helander and Goldson who pass the ball to Jack who then relays the ball Kamara which Livingston were quite happy for us to do because it results in us having only six forward of the ball whilst they have nine at the back meaning everyone is tightly marked. As Rousseau has suggested one of the centre backs has to break forward and commit a Livi player to create space into which Jack or Kamara can then set up the attack but from a more forward area.1 point
-
Unfortunately, that wasn't possible. The match did remind me a wee bit of the first 15 minutes of Saving Private Ryan due to the sheer scale of violence aimed at our players. It was Hellish in there and I'm surprised there were no fatalities.1 point

Frequently been 21 players in their half. McLaughlin should just get up there and join the crowd for the full 22.1 point

Of course, its always been like that at Livingston, so expecting anything different from them is hopeless. BTW, you WOULD hope that when Kamara and Jack get forward, the actually try a shot themselves.1 point

Its only a matter of time before someone gives himself a very bad injury on these type of surfaces about time the high head the baws banned them1 point

Can they, though? Norwich beat them at the start of the season when they had Silva, Aguero and the other Silva (Bernardo). They did have Stones and Otamendi at the back! Again, my point was, it's not as simple as 'this side is better on paper, so should win'. Tactics play a huge part.1 point

City looked a bit off the boil and Guardiola made a bit of an arse of it with his tactics (the game was lost in midfield). The thought of PSG vs RB Leipzig in a European Cup semi final is a bit grim. I think it'll be an all-German final.1 point

That was a great few nights of football, for me. I can't stand Atleti, Barcelona, nor Man City. All got pumped. (I was rooting for Atalanta too, but you can't have everything.) The arrogance of the pundits and commentators last night was annoying, as if City just had to turn up - they were even saying that Man City will have a field day against Bayern because of the high line the Germans were playing against Barca. It's all so naive; as if teams just play one way. Bayern would not have played with a high line against Man City. Matches are not played on paper. You have two teams, two managers looking to out-do the other; different tactics, different approaches, difference ways of playing. We had a Lyon side who got their tactics spot-on: playing quite a deep block, but aggressive to close down; and then pinged ball over the top for their quick forwards. I think Steve McManaman was saying it's not arrogance, they just now what City can do. Yes, at their best they are superb. But can they do it when they are stopped from doing it? It's not even an English thing: the same thing happened in the Atleti-Leipsig match. Historically there's only one winner; on paper you'd say Atleti have the better calibre of player. But again, the game is not played on paper. Atleti are very stubborn in their approach; there's no real attacking impetus; they defend deep and counter. In contrast, Leipsig are managed by a tactically astute coach, Nagelsmann, and they play some of the most wonderful attacking football you'll ever see; the pace and movement is superb. Another good thing: We pumped Lyon a few weeks ago, so we're basically the 4th best team in Europe!1 point
