No shame in being beaten by a fine team last night but a pity we looked so powder-puff. Good to see Patterson do quite well in his cameo and signs we can play good, quick football when it suits us. Manager needs to ensure that happens more often along with better decision-making. Disappointed in most players. Only a few showed flashes of what they were capable of with even guys like Jack and Aribo guilty of giving the ball away far too easily. However, no SPFL will come close to the level of the Germans so it's important we regroup, starting with a confident win against St Mirren on Sunday.3 points

Gerrard's achievements in Europe are staggering. The team over achieved this season again and went out to a team we had no chance of competing with.2 points

Pathetic the SFA/SPFL should have taken action before government intervention and awarded the tie to St. Johnstone and set a precedent.2 points

Covid 19 is a stressful situation for all of us. Emotions are running high everywhere that you look. It's easy to overreact to this latest development. An excessive knee jerk response would only harm Scottish football further. That's why I think that Aberdeen should immediately be relegated to the S.P.F.L. League Two.2 points

A Covid19 outbreak within a city’s pubs leads to a lockdown. A Covid19 outbreak in a football club in that city and the club is expected to continue playing matches throughout the rest of the country. Something not quite right here.....2 points

Yahoos blame other people for their own failings. I always thought that was a fundamental difference between us and them. Maybe I was wrong.2 points

We should focus on Rangers and not worry about diddy clubs like Aberdeen.2 points

@JFK-1 previews the first home match of the new season! The first home game of the season and the first competitive game at Ibrox since covid-19 changed the face of football brings St Mirren to the home of Rangers. League wise the Buddies come off the back of a good start after their 1-0 home victory against Livingston while Rangers also recorded a 1-0 win away to the plague infested sheep of the North. Regardless of the Rangers starting 11 both sides are going to be facing a sharp contrast in terms of the class of opposition in comparison to their most recent games. With all due respect to St Mirren they're no Leverkusen and St Mirren for their part will be well aware that Rangers are no Livi and not in a comforting sense. For this reason I would be more than surprised if St Mirren set up with anything other than a highly defensive formation we are all well accustomed to seeing visiting teams employ at Ibrox. This game introduces some unknowns into the equation for Rangers in the shape of two new strikers and debate around which or either of them may play whether be it a start or a substitution appearance. While defensively It's been many a year since I felt so confident in the Rangers defence and especially so in terms of the wealth of CB's we now have at the club. Such an over abundance of riches even with Nikola Katic out injured potentially for up to 6 months I have no great worries about whatever CB pairing Steven Gerrard may opt for. Connor Goldson is a stick on with a number of reliable alternatives available to play alongside him. I'm expecting to see Goldson and possibly Balogun after a sterling debut performance last week with Tavernier and Barisic either side of them. Beyond the defence there are also top quality options in the shape of Aribo, Kent, and Hagi etc but in the middle of the formation there are also a variety of alternatives which make it something of a guessing game regarding the starting line up. Then when looking at striker options there's the question of will one of our new strikers play? Will Morelos start? If one of the newbies take a spot either from the start or a substitute I expect it be Itten since I have doubts about the availability of Roofe fitness wise. If we go with the usual one striker a part of me wants it to be Alfie since there's always the chance this may be the last time we see him in a Rangers jersey and it would be a fitting farewell if he could play and bag one or two. On the other hand Alfie hasn't been quite himself of late turning in relatively lacklustre performances and showing little in the way of a threat. None of us are going to forget the contribution of Alfie during his time at Rangers. He was key in our Euro qualification run and our qualification for the knockout stages and a lot more besides. All of us will wish him well in the next stage of his career. But if he's likely to be leaving in the next week or do might it not be best to try to fit in say Itten for a start to get him bedded in as quickly as possible before tougher ties than St Mirren at Ibrox appear on the horizon? Obviously the manager will decide what's best for the team on the day. On paper no matter who plays this should be a comfortable standard home win for Rangers with at least a couple of goals in the St Mirren net by the end of it. While i'm often reluctant to be too over confident my expectation is that this will indeed be the case and i'm feeling at least 3 goals may be on the cards for Rangers with hopefully 0 in reply. We all know how absolutely vital every point is this season and maybe especially so home points. Despite it being early there is no wiggle room given that there's always the possibility we may again face a curtailed league. This is just another of many must win games to come. Go Rangers, 3-0 and hopefully 5 or even more to match the yahoo tally of last week. We need to get that GD difference down. Possible team (4-3-3)1 point

What rules , there was government guidance no more , also , what do we do if a player of any team who has done everything correctly , catches this and infects a squad , do they get points deducted . I cannot stand Aberdeen , but this is political posturing , suddenly no one is talking about exam results …….1 point

I see Arsenal have sacked 55 members of staff, a week after winning the FA Cup. https://uk.reuters.com/article/uk-health-coronavirus-soccer-arsenal/arsenal-to-sack-55-staff-as-covid-19-hits-revenues-idUKKCN2512BK Modern football is constantly moralising to its 'customers' about diversity, inclusion, equality and other societal matters. What a joke.1 point

Not nice when you see them paying a dud £350,000 a week and supposedly considering offering an out of contract Chelsea player £170,000 a week and their owner increasing his personal fortune during the virus lockdown.1 point

Like most others, it is a toss up between Goldson & Helander. I have went for Helander in the end due to the fact he has played no competitive football for so long. Impressive 90 mins all things considered. With the 4 CB's who have played pre season and 2 competitive games so far, I think we look as strong in central defence than we have for some time.1 point

Just to clarify, I don't think people losing their jobs is a joke. It's the lecturing about morals and sheer hypocrisy of football clubs and authorities that are a joke (and not a funny one).1 point

Irrespective of what anyone thinks of Aberdeen, you’ve hit the nail on the head. This is just more inept leadership from the SFA andSPFL. No one believes this would be happening if it was Celtic.1 point

Helander gets it for me. I thought he was excellent, he made so many blocks and won everything in the air. One or two of the blocks looked like they were certain to be goals. I actually thought Barisic was good too. He was denied an assist by Alfredo miscontrolling the ball in an excellent position and I thought he was our best chance of creating something all night. Barker wasn't up to much, just hassling and harrying. Kent was better but a bit of a standard Kent performance, looking dangerous and giving us an outlet with his pace but time and time again it ends with nothing. I thought Aribo was generally very good too. He did have a few blips but he stood out in the centre of midfield beside very average performances by the the other two. He again showcased his skill and strength.1 point

Gerrard said those rumours weren't true. I still wouldnt' be surprised to see him go though. He is a handy player in Europe away from home but isn't at the required level domestically in my opinion.1 point

If you are hoping Aberdeen are the difference between us winning or losing the league on goal difference, I can assure you you will always be disappointed. We should have scored more against them on Saturday. We took the foot off the gas.1 point

He had no option last night given Defoe is injured and both Itten & Roofe were ineligible. Morelos was the only viable option last night. Wouldnt be surprised to see him dropped this weekend (assuming he is still here).1 point

That's what I thought too, but they've obviously changed it if one of the teams they need to play is Celtic.1 point

Some Aberdeen players allegedly went out after Rangers game to aforementioned pub with virus outbreak. If they are to play St Johnstone this weekend who’s to say other Aberdeen players won’t be affected too after training this week?1 point
-
BBC are saying the St Johnstone game is in doubt. So who knows. It's a lesson for the entire league if we're going to have any chance at all of having a full season. They can't pretend this virus is in retreat and we can all act normally. It isn't and it isn't going to be for a long time to come.1 point

Anybody can take points from the yahoos on the day, and if they can't do it who can? It's like saying nobody can given they're rated third best. We want all sides who play them to be at full strength. Outside that I don't care about their problems.1 point

Even when one of those games they have to play with EIGHT players out is Celtic at Parkhead ? You won’t be saying that if we lose the league by a couple of goals on goal difference and the Tims have pumped Aberdeen 7-0 in that same game !1 point

simply beaten by a much better team . The next part of the rebuilding must be the midfield , saying that that Bayer team are class . On another note I really hope the Morelos transfer goes through , if it doesn't and the fans turn against him we will end up with a player that we wont get a bean from , either on or off the park .1 point
