  1. I'll always have fond memories of Morelos. He could be frustrating at times, particularly his discipline, but he was good to watch. He scored some great goal and had some great assists. He kept defenders busy all the time. We all knew it was a matter of time before he moved but It still comes as a shock when it actually happens. Good luck to him. I hope he goes to the very top.

  2. Yes I agree with those sentiments. Would only wish him my best. Taking a look at Lille though, I would have thought if he is aiming for the top this is a slightly strange move. Their squad is almost entirely made up of French players or French Africans apart from a couple of Eastern Europeans. No South American or even Spanish players. Club has won La Ligue once before. Little real European pedigree either, although I accept they have been in CL. Average home crowds less than 30 thousand. I think he could do better but maybe he's had enough of the Glasgow fishbowl! However, I somehow doubt he will get the adulation from a Lille crowd that matches anything near what he got at Ibrox!

  4. Craigarino, I thank you sir for that nipple of insight. However, I must give my honest opinion on this matter. If they do not have a very strong line on his replacement, then that is very bad business. Though i understand the fluid nature of trade markets...you gotta plan...you gotta plan man. As my old group commander used to say; "We need to have contingencies for the contingencies!"

  5. I trust our scouts. We need a new striker and an attacking midfielder who walks into the starting 11 and this could give us that chance. It is clear as day to me that there is a lack of quality behind the striker. Personally I’ve always believed Morelos is overrated by our fans. 12 goals in 26 in the league and no goals since December isn’t good enough and make no mistake about it, it cost us. Most of his 12 league goals came in very comfortable wins too. I genuinely believe our scouts can find a player who will score more league goals. I don’t mean to downplay his achievements, but I do believe many very poor performances were overlooked because of his European exploits.

  8. To my mind, Alfie has been gone since the turn of the year. His form before shut down was sensational. I have watched all four friendlies this pre-season and he looks off it. He is contributing in link up play, but the venom in front of goal is not quite there. Yesterday against Coventry, he had opportunities for at least a double. I think the manager has him gone too. My worry is we are six days from starting the season and Defoe's hamstring scan result is due tomorrow. We could be going into Pittodrie and Leverkusen without a recognised striker. If Alfie is for the off, he goes with my every bon chance. He has been an excellent leader of the Rangers line.

  9. From what I van gather Lille have bid £14M we are holding out for £20M with a 15/20%sell on clause. Expect it to be settled at around £18M. 2 players currently in EPL are expected to join up with us this week once the EPL season is completed and the Alfie deal is signed and sealed. Timing not ideal and it needs to be completed ASAP. Replacing Alfie isn't going to be as easy as many think. However £15-£20M for a player we paid £1M for is brilliant business and the sort of business we need.

  11. While it's fair to say they haven't won anything yet I wouldn't say they haven't achieved anything. Last 16 of the Europa league from QR1 is an unprecedented achievement.

  12. Also think the management and fitness team are impressed with his levels and in the shape he returned in. Young lad has a future in the game, that's for sure. If Aribo, Hagi and Kent can continually deliver an end product (goals), then that takes a lot of pressure from our "number 9" .

  13. Since 1888, it's been an insatiable consummation. Six Irish immigrant families, mostly Publicans decide to form a football club, inspired by Edinburgh based Irish immigrants that had formed Hibernian. They found land, rented it for a few months, and filled in the quarry with over 200, 000 voluntary carts of soil/aggregate. a Football field was created, two Grandstands built(one privately owned by the Glass family), and a velodrome installed. Two successful football clubs were invited to play an exhibition match, Renton and Hibs provided the entree, subsequently divided into better halves, they became ra Sellik. The original Hibs were dissolved and Renton succumbed to Junior football. It's how it began. A club that these days claims it was open to all at it's founding, set out in the late 1880s/early 1890s to morally compromise rc players to play for the rc club. This included players originally at Rangers such as Neil McCallum and Doc Kivlichan. The opprobrium faced by the early Sellik was a result of continuous stealing of other clubs' players. Such arrogance so casually displayed was an anathema. The epitome was a priest in Falkirk smuggling a Falkirk FC player(who was rc) out of the town in a hand cart, during silent hours to meet Sellik officials in the morning. Appropriation was in with the building blocks. In my lifetime, ra Sellik have stolen Liverpool's 'You'll never walk alone' and claimed it as their own. Producers at BBC Scotland made the documentary, not telling the listenership they were BBC Producers. They told of the emotion singing the song, visualising their deceased mothers whilst belting out lyrics about suicide. Barcelona FC were next, they were more than a club. However, ra Sellik's sense of vicTIMhood was such, they were more worthy of the statement ie ra Sellik had suffered 40 years of subjugation by Franco. The support wanted to believe it, it became so, as it had for almost 100 years before. Cultural appropriation is their rite of passage. The latest sack of pysh is His Bobness of Marley was a mad, mental Sellik supporter. Yep, a born'n'bred Jamaican from the blue mountains, became hooked on ra green;n;grey hooped horrors in the early/mid sixties by tuning into the BBC World Service. Lying in his cot, he had foresaken rock steady and ska blasted by Prince Buster's sound system, to hear tales of Seezur and Jinky. They crave it, it, it's what they want, it's how it should be. Why? This well trod path of least resistance does not belong to Yahoos in exclusivity. My introduction to Bob was in 1973, he appeared with the Wailers on the Old Grey Whistle Test. I bought 'Catch a Fire' the following weekend. I was in a world of Bob, Bunny, Peter Tosh, Family Man, .....etc. It confirmed my preferred prejudice, Island Records also had Free on the label, and who amplified better tone than Paul Kossoff? My first year at Uni' in 1974 began most days in a flat in Great George Street with 'Stir it Up', first track, second side of the Wailers first Island album. In June'76, we took the Union mini-bus to Bellevue, Manchester to see, more appropriately worship at the altar of Bob. A haze of ganja enveloped the auditorium, but no mention of ra Sellik. Bob's wikipedia tells of a life long support for Santos, he loved Pele. Bob was raised catholic but converted to Rastafarianism. He played football constantly whilst in London but never journeyed 400 miles to watch ra Sellik. He passed 40 years past without mentioning the bad word. What encourages the Yahoos conviction, other than desire? I would encourage the separated entity to continue their next cultural appropriation by focusing their attention upon the Bob tribute act, 'Big Jah Knew and the Wail, Wailers'. Their A cappella rendition of Three little boys by my doorstep, singing sweet songs .... will blow your cheese. Martin Luther King Junior did lots of good things, why don't ra Sellik appropriate him?

  14. Doctor Kivlichan played for Rangers, transferred to ra Sellik, then returned to Rangers. On his return to the Light Blues, he was quoted as saying, "it was good to be home". As for Kos, he possessed the best tone, and our separated brethren are notoriously tone deaf.

  17. If Morelos does go I’d prefer to see us go for a traditional 6ft plus centre forward which would give us the longball option should we need it

  18. Yeh, I’m sure he would do well but I think I would prefer an out and out striker be signed who can link up well with the midfield. I think I’m a bit skeptical too because English players who made their reputation playing at the top of the Championship are notoriously overrated and poor value. If there is truth in the link he would probably fit the bill for one of the number 10 positions though.

  19. I keep hearing people saying he would be brilliant. I have only seen his highlights reel but I don’t see it? He looks a natural winger and not a striker. His record isn’t inspiring either. Is he really hood enough?

  20. Clearly didn't participate in the definitive Gersnet poll on the use of 'Glasgow' in our name.

  21. Don't think attitudes are changing. He clearly wants to leave and had always said we were a stepping-stone. He is our most sellable asset, he wants to leave, its a natural conclusion to his Ibrox career. It's a business model we need to excel in - buy cheap, sell expensive. Every signing is a gamble, time will tell if we replace him with a better player. Sad to see him go, but it was inevitable

  22. Amazing how attitudes change from Alfie being a god at one time now let's get rid of him how quickly we turn. A young man who came and set the heather alight and the when the cluggers found out he reacted sharply to things set out to get him booked/sent off when their actions should have had same treatment.Obviously the manic mhedia highlighted all these traits of Alfie hence no hiding place. As of last season his behaviour became a bit better but as far as the referees in Scotland were concerned he was still a trophy in their eyes each time he was carded. Then came the news of an attempt to steal or bug his car whilst he was under the mhedia pressure and with his wife being pregnant it must have been mentally draining. However IMO although he has not scored in the pre season games some of his passing etc. has shown him to be more of a team person. Finally to those who thought it strange that SG subbed him it was done in light of the sheep game. Should he go it will be with my best wishes and sorrow as is one of the best talents we've had over the past few seasons.

  23. Is it normal for player and club to agree terms before the clubs agree a fee? Seems backwards.
    1 point
  24. Yep, and another way to look at it is Alfie always seems to hit a barren spell during a season.... hopefully this is his barren spell for this season and he goes between now and May in a very rich vein of form.

  25. His strength was always noticeable but yesterday it was his pace that stunned me. For such a hulk of a guy he can move. The boy is FAST. Completely agree.... could easily be our best defender by a country mile - a wee bit better decision making and clean up on the little mistakes and we’ve won a watch with this boy !

  26. No, Only someone who works with them every day could know that. All I’m pretty sure of is it isn’t the current captain

  27. Maybe someone who has won a league title. I agree with Bill. We have good footballers but we also need winners.

  28. Next it will be Gerry Mcnee ,the voice of football ?

  29. Fair and totally agree. Although, I tend to think this supports the view that our team are better at being underdogs than handling the pressure of being out in front. The difficult thing for our club is that we cannot buy 'winners'. We need to rely on developing players into winners. Whilst I cannot deny the improvement under SG, only time will tell if he is capable of turning our squad into 'winners'...

  30. I hear what you are saying Bill, and agree based on last season, however you are not allowing for these players to improve, Hagi, Aribo, Kent all can improve and step up another level, I do still think we need another couple of quality signings, not potential players but quality players who can go straight into the first 11, another striker would be my priority
