The Bigot Test Is this an easy mistake to make? The cardinal sin of assumption Making her maiden speech this week, Sarah Dines, the Tory MP for Derbyshire Dales, said that one of the most important things politicians must learn was not to make assumptions. She mentioned one of her predecessors, Matthew Parris who, in the 1980s, tried to abolish imprisonment for prostitution. To make his case, he invited some ladies of negotiable affection to speak to a select committee and went to collect them from Central Lobby. "Are you the prostitutes from Birmingham?" Parris jauntily asked a likely crew. There was "an awful silence" before they coldly explained that they were, in fact, a Catholic women's group. Though he had identified their accents correctly.5 points

I wrote this in my blog this week & I’ll say it again His remit is the following - sort issues with BBC - sort issues with Fare - sort issues with local politicians - sort issues with our media He has the experience, he has the knowledge and has dealt with many things Am I biased? Absolutely but my opinion (mine) is I’m prepared to give him a go I’d rather a bluenose who was aware of the challenges we face than a big company who know nothing of our current dilemmas3 points

I met George last year in Strathclyde Park, it was a mustering of the Cameronians(honest Richard). He was walking with his Brother-in-Law, extremely happy in his then new venture of helping out installing kitchens and bathrooms.3 points

Think posters should stop the negativity as it plays into the hands of the mhedia,if we cannot support the appointment how the hell can we expect to get fair coverage, not that we get any at the moment right enough.2 points

I would suspect he will be firm but the other sides have to play ball Far from a PR strategy of ‘No one likes us we don’t care’ it will more be like, These our our concerns, we can play ball but you’ll have to play ball also There are some organisations who are beyond repair (Record Sun etc) and some we have to try and repair something with (Fare, BBC etc) for the greater good I am very pro David Graham, he is after all one of us But the proof is always in the pudding2 points

The Roman Catholic church protects itself by banning catholics from joining the OO or the Masons, Islam protect themselves by insisting that you believe in the Quaran and Mohammad, the Hindus insist that you believe moksha, enlightenment, unites the individual soul with Brahman. What is wrong with the Orange Order insisting that the organization is based on the Reformed faith? Can a person not have their own faith and yet still perform a professional job?2 points

I’d be pretty sure that, just like every other appointment at the club, Gerrard simply wants the best person in the role. And none of us yet know if that is David Graham or not.1 point

Just a quick post to shut down the stories about Alfie being over weight and carrying a bit of timber , well he just came into the gym I use on the Southside , not far from Ibrox and a short walk from where he stays . This boy is ripped and is carrying no excess body fat .1 point

Rangers have a position that needs filled. They advertise and applicants apply. Top applicant gets the job after passing interviews. It is common knowledge that he is a Protestant, Unionist, Loyalist, OO member and DUP councillor. This is no problem as Rangers operate an 'Everyone, Anyone' policy. Where is there a contradiction? Now let's see if he passes muster. Let's go, Rangers!!1 point

If we're going to let Highlanders lead the way, we may as well appoint heads of clans and get the battle skirts dusted down. ?1 point

It´s almost inevitable and now more about devaluing what would be a gifted title so as it doesn´t become accepted as 9IAR. Important to lay the groundwork quickly. 2019/20... The Title that Never Was !1 point

The fact that we are talking about whether Orange Lodge members can marry Catholics, or whether Catholics can participate in the Free Masons suggests to me that this appointment could be more hassle than it's worth. We have just launched an Everyone and Anyone campaign - so for me it is hypocritical for David Graham to be part of this when he is a member of a group who openly discriminate against another group.1 point

Please allow me to remind Gersnetters of BBC Scotland's mantra for three years : "Hearts are a model club".1 point

Jim McHarg as Grand Master of the Grand Orange Lodge of Scotland made that statement. I would have no way of knowing which advisors had input into its composition.1 point

As usual the story has been sensationalised for clicks The truth is he is investing, part of the share issue as we were told He isn’t investing £20m and he isn’t buying out King etc He is a new investor, it is new money and it is good news but the rest is sensational bullshit The share issue will be announced very soon, best to wait until then because stories of new ‘sugar daddy’s’ and spin is completely unfair on everyone in the support1 point
