  1. Anyone who states that someone isn't suitable for a non-religious job because of their religious beliefs is a bigot in my book.

  2. As many others have said recently .... fuck the rest of the premier league clubs and Dundee Utd too. I hope the damage is deep and lasting. I'd give them as much help as they gave us when we needed it. As for the lower leagues, we did our bit for them as you say. The only thing I care about is that Rangers survives intact through this crisis and that we're in a position to hit the ground running when things restart. So far Robertson hasn't come across as particularly impressive as an MD but it might just be that he's a better manager than a leader. Hopefully the wider team running the club will see us through this.

  3. John I understand your concerns about it but I don't think rangers need to be building any bridges, we have seen over the last 8 years how many clubs aren't willing to build bridges and kick us when we are down, actually in the current climate I hope a few of them go to the wall. The appointment does fee like we are going on the offensive a bit, which is good because I feel we have been passive for to long. Not knowing much about him other than what I have read and hear on HH podcasts we will see how he goes.

  4. I take my hat off to the author of this. If any students of Creative Writing seek an example of unctuous, sanctimonious, and hypocritical prose, look no further. Nailed.

  5. Unless the season can be completed within a reasonable timescale it will need to be declared null & void. I’d suggest the end of May would be the time by which the season would need to be completed because players will be ending their contracts & being released. I read today that La Liga have stated Barcelona will not be given the title despite being top of the league if the games don’t restart.

  6. Historically, people - eg politicos, civil servants, media- found it difficult to deal with Ulster Unionists, for the reason that their core, some might argue only, principle was non-negotiable, and paramount; everything was seen in relation to that rock-like, fundamental position. Whether power sharing, and the Chuckle Bros, now both deceased, have changed things remains, I think, something of a moot point. Nevertheless, if Mr Graham transfers some of the elements of Unionist intransigence and single mindedness to the representation and promotion of RFC, then he will, I think, do for me.

  7. It's a guess based on 20 years working in Northern Ireland and a career in professional communications. Delighted if I'm wrong.

  8. I think you have to acknowledge the post he's taking up in all this and why that matters. He's not been appointed the head of catering, or finance or head of facilities management, he's been put in change of PR and so he'll be in daily contact with the media, so we have to expect the media to take an interest in him and question his background. This man's job will involve working with, and managing, the media. In the same way eyebrows were raised when Traynor got the gig so they're being raised now. Does no one think that's worth considering before it's written off as the work of bigots? A question for you, who is head of PR at Parkhead, or Aberdeen, or Hibs? Or indeed at Man U or Liverpool? I guarantee most of us have no clue and that's how it should be. Good PR is accomplished below the surface and away from the spotlight. Supporters have (rightly) complained about our PR for years, and that's because it's not been managed at all well. PR is a skill, and for an organisation as high profile as Rangers working with a large local media demanding content and access that requires experience and know-how. I'm not sure how being a local councillor in Belfast gives you any of that. My concern is Mr Graham sees us a stepping stone on his way to getting a chance to stand in a safe seat for his current employers. Having a couple of years at Rangers on his CV won't do his chances of that any harm. Employing someone who is closely associated with any political party was always going to cause a stir. Politics is polarising, even more so than football. Whatever party he'd represented he'd have drawn criticism from some. Having lived in Northern Ireland I never felt the DUP were any good at PR, indeed I felt they were pretty poor at it, the only group I can think of worse than them at PR was/is the Orange Order. I doubt Mr Graham was personally responsible for that to be fair but it's the background he's coming from. Anyway, my concern over this appointment isn't that he's an Orangeman or must support most of the DUP's policies, some of which are anathema to me, he's entitled to his own views whatever I might think of them. No, my concern is the direction this suggests we're taking as a club PR wise. At a time when I think the club needs to be building bridges and making friends, I fear Mr Graham's skills lie in the opposite direction. I suspect many of our support won't share my concerns, and that this appointment is being made with them in mind. Fine, but in my opinion that's a very short-sighted strategy. Rangers remain toothless in influencing Scottish football and indeed greater society, I don't see how this appointment will address that.

  9. It looks increasingly like the next several months are going to hold brutal consequences for a lot of people and that the notion of a normal season 2020-21 is as unlikely as expecting this season can ever be completed. Either the football authorities are completely out of touch with what's going on in the world or, as usual, they're waiting for someone else to take the decision out of their hands. It seems to me the need to limit social gatherings isn't just going to last until the end of this season but could still be in place well after next season is due to start.

  10. Anyone who disagrees with another persons convictions and beliefs is a bigot, no?

  11. I’ve never heard of David Graham but wish him well in his appointment. My only concern about him is whether he had sufficient PR experience for will be a very difficult role at times in dealing with a very biased media in this country

  12. Neil should have deferred. Asking for tolerance then castigating David Graham for being a Northern Irish Unionist and member of the Orange Order is Neil's problem, and numerous others in both the Scottish print and broadcast media. Rangers have appointed David Graham, why not give him a chance? In the open spirit that Neil calls for, why doesn't the current part time Journo tell of his preference on bed sheets? Egyptian cotton as opposed to Irish Linen? You see Neil took his redundancy last year, suffers from the black dog. He ploughed his hard earned into a Boarding House on a west coast island. Does Neil prefer his guests start their day with honey or marmalade? Should Neil's guests know Neil's background? We know when the OO marches, the DUP are a legitimate political party pursuing a perfectly legitimate political agenda, and David Graham has never pulled on a balaclava. Compare and contrast with Neil's favourites, has anyone at Sellik Park gone into land deals with Slab Murphy? I think Neil knows the answer to that one; maybe he can help out with this one, when's the date and time of the next Opus Dei march? You know that organisation founded by Franco's personal Bishop? Bang another gong, your guests are waiting on their dinner.

  13. Have to be honest, I thought his article was fairly balanced. Aside from calling for a "jobs for the boys" at the end.

  14. If the new head of PR was a RC and a member of the SNP then the press wouldn't mention it. Apparently being a Protestant and a unionist is some sort of crime in modern Scotland that the press have to emphasise someone's political and religious views and suggest that they are unsuitable for a job because of it. Imagine the uproar if someone was branded unsuitable for a non-religious job because they were a RC and a nationalist. Neil Cameron is a bigot.

  15. I genuinely don't believe they can relegate Hearts any more than crown Celtic winners on the matches still to be played. This is unprecedented circumstance and is unlikely ever to be repeated and there should be no winners or losers. I should have added as fans we did not pay for our season tickets to have to accept being shafted by the authorities. I would hope the club would be making their and our feelings known. We should not be rolling over and handing them a title without winning it.
