OK, I think the thread has ran its course for now. I'll reopen it once we have some more news.2 points

Well done. That's the sort of dogged stupidity that ensures the SNP free rein to undermine everything decent about this country.2 points

Cringeworthy, embarrassing and indicative of the "new" type of support we have. If I am honest, the snowflake sentiment behind the applause routine summed up last night very succinctly.2 points

The prospect of yet another false dawn is almost too much to bear. But there's no denying that's now a definite possibility. I very much want Gerrard to succeed but I want Rangers to succeed a whole lot more and it just isn't happening. The thing I can't get out of my head is that those players would never have turned in the gutless performances we've endured since New Year if Walter Smith was the manager. That's leading me to a conclusion I'd rather not dwell on right now.2 points

I think of opening the Summer Transfer Window Thread soon, so we get some excitement for the remainder of the season.2 points

Erm, not sure another loss is going yield positive comments but I thought Aribo played quite well and showed a good attitude last night. He does need to learn to move the ball quicker when he's used in deeper areas though. Other than him, the rest of the team were woefully inconsistent and/or wasteful on the ball. Tav and Barisic tried hard to support the attack but their supply was very poor for the most part. Morelos and Kamberi looked reasonable first half, as did Hagi, but all three feel out of it somewhat after the goal. Sigh.1 point

Correct, it's bizarre to say the least. Where's our shrinking violet captain when the time comes to stand up and be counted. Too many of the wrong type of characters in the wrong roles at the club. For what it's worth, Halliday spoke well and made no attempt to sugar coat the shambles we're in. I can only assume he faced up because no one else was prepared to.1 point

Aye, I do remember that era and it was def not pretty! "Greig must go" was a regular chant round Ibrox. Totally agree re the atmosphere last night. I hung around at the end (Niece body swerve the game) and the toxicity was vicious.1 point

You would have to take into account the ring rustiness of both Kamberi and Morelos. How else to explain the former missing five chances, and the latter two or three?1 point

Three strikers up top now? Wow. For months it's been, 'play two up top, that's the solution!'. We played two up top last night and scored... nothing. If three strikers don't work, do we play four? I agree we've got a conversion problem, but I disagree it's the formation that is the issue. For me, the main reason is a lack of movement, intent and tempo. If you combine that with our clear psychological problems, it's a nightmare; our players look completely inept.1 point
-
We have many problems but for me the formation is a main issue We have a 8% conversion rate. Our answer to that is to create more chances and tweak the formation to increase chances but that does not increase conversion rates. The formation doesn't allow for an increase of players who are natural goal scorer's. We have a single focal point that is easy to defend against. The formation leads mainly to chance creation but leaves those chances at the feet of players who have zero confidence in front of goal. We must change to a formation that emphasise and enhances those players who have higher conversion rates ie Morelos, kamberi, hagi and Defoe and stop playing number tens. Play three forwards across the front line (kamberi, Defoe, morelos) and hagi behind, especially at home against bottom of the league.1 point

I told myself I wasn't going to join any open criticism of our manager, who I still hope delivers success. However, I've been increasingly worried by the tone of his "reaction" interviews after the last two losses. On each occasion he's made a point of assuring us how much he was "hurting" and how disappointed he was. I don't want a Rangers manager telling me how hurt or disappointed he is, that's the last thing I want. I want a Rangers manager being incandescent that his players could even dare to serve up such feckless crap. I want a Rangers manager making decisive changes and flaying anyone who doesn't go along with it. In other words, some sign of leadership. I'm beginning to understand that the players have caught on to this side of Gerrard and there's been a considerable loss of respect for him. And I don't ever want to hear the word Liverpool mentioned again so long as Gerrard is the manager of Rangers. This isn't fucking Liverpool and right now it doesn't look like Rangers either.1 point

Were there two Alfredos on the park last night? Because the one I saw didn't come within a country mile of being MOTM. Next time I'm going to look out for the other Morelos.1 point

Thought Borna was as culpable at the goal ad he was skinned in the build up - cross came in unchallenged, they hit bar then, well, you know the rest. Unless McGregor was having flashbacks and thought it was Papac ? As for MOTM - Aribo best of band bunch1 point
-
I found it strange that he was screaming at Borna after the goal, where it was Goldson and Tav that were far more culpable. Is it because Borna is an easier target?1 point

I thought in the first half Rangers were in control with some good passages of play. We had some half-chances but were just lacking a goal but I thought with the pressure we had this was only a matter of time. We started the second half a bit slow and then after the Hamilton goal we became too frantic with too many hopeful balls swung into the area. I was surprised with the substitutions and considered that Kamberi was having a reasonable game and Kamara apart from a few errant passes was providing good link-up play especially with Aribo. Their replacement by Defoe and Kent did not improve us and I felt that in this type of physical contest Defoe makes little impact and probably at this stage in his career is not good enough for Rangers apart from when no-one else is available. I also think that Morelos was not at his best. We create some good space in the wings with both Barisic and Tavernier seeing plenty of the ball but the latter's delivery is too hit and miss but with a preponderance of misses. Barisic's delivery was better but I think we need more invention from him rather than floating hopeful ball after ball into the area.1 point

There's a difference between moaning and shouting abuse. Agree with the tempo issue. A guy I gave a lift to said that there were a couple of corners that took us 30 seconds to take. It all mounts up.1 point

A show of support for the manager. It started off very subdued but gathered momentum. As Frankie said, strange atmosphere last night and only really came alive when Livi took the lead then was sunk after about 5 mins when we lost our goal.1 point

Yeah, I was not unhappy with that first half performance, although we lacked a bit of quality in the finish. They look terrified. There's nothing much to play for now, so I'd like to see some youngsters drafted in for the misfiring first-team players. The Colts would have won that game last night.1 point

Was a very weird night. I actually thought we played OK for the first hour then, for whatever reason, our defence and Goldson in particular think it's time to take risks on the ball instead of just clearing it and we concede the most stupid of stupid goals when dominating. No wonder McGregor was going ballistic as he'd just made a superb save a few seconds earlier. After that, we created more chances but the lack of confidence was painful to watch and we could still be playing now and not have scored. It's just not happening and I'm now at a loss to suggest how to change it but the manager needs to drop Tav, Goldson and one or two others who are just not playing well. OK, they've done well over the piece in their Rangers careers but, right now, it's doing more harm than good to play them.1 point

Our defenders just need to provide one moment of magic for Hamilton to score.1 point

IMHO, Jones played well enough, then we got Kent and he never get a foothold again. Kent is no left winger, Jones has pace, is direct and will shoot at goal. Barker ... haven't seen anything from him that validates his place on the bench. Why we signed him and Jones and Kent when we had Murphy ... all vbying for on slot is beyond me. Murphy was back from injury and needs competitive footy. He was not going to get it while we had Kent (and Jones), all fit and running. At the time, they were ahead of him. Docherty runs a bit hot and cold at Hibs, as does McCrory. Both do show some grit the current folk lack though. What sent us even more down the mire was not having Morelos, Defoe, Helander and Polster ready to step in after the break, for one reason or another. IMHO, the main reason remains the wrong tactics time and again ... Can't for the love of the game understand why we tried to play that "modern game" against people who sussed it out ging back to MW days. It is as much a luxury as is the European run.1 point

The very least, the absolute minimum, we need to see from our manager before the next game is a clear sign he accepts massive changes are needed if we're to succeed in Scottish domestic football. By far the best way he can signal this is by announcing a new captain on Friday.1 point

Gerrard looks as defeated as i've seen him, but i agree with the comments about the quiet dressing room . I'd to see want to see fisticuffs and baws booted, and a few home truths coming out in the process. Sometimes it's the only way.1 point

The biggest insult tonight was Tavernier going off and handing captain's armband to Goldson having cost us the game.1 point

Think some of these players are struggling with the expectations. I think Gerrard knows exactly what the expectations are and the players are resisting it. If they play Gerrard out of a job I will be fuming. We need to get a shit load of these guys out.1 point

Unfortunately its a lot easier to blame and get rid of the manager than a whole team of players.1 point

A player, and a great loss to Govan's Chosen Few. Mind you, with that size and build he would have been No 1 target for the SPL's significant thugee tendency, unchecked by officialdom, and the risk of his career being derailed, truncated, or finished, to choruses of approval from experts in the various media, very high.1 point
