  1. Play him up top with either Defoe or Kamberi this loan striker is not working teams have sussed us out

  2. Depends on what Alfredos attitude has been since Saturday. If he has apologised for being late, has knuckled down in training and showed an appetite for the game then yes. If he hasn't I'd drop him from the squad again.

  3. I've said it before and I'll say it again. The lack of support for Alfie by the club, both in regards to the abuse he's taken on and off the park and also to the way that he's refereed to a different standard to every other player in Scotland is shameful. It's no wonder his form has suffered. If the club wants the best from him then they need to totally revisit the way that they treat him and don't take the dignified silence approach just because it best suits "brand Gerrard".

  4. We don't know what has gone on, but in any case I think Kamberi has probably earned a start and I wouldn't mind seeing Defoe starting alongside him.

  5. ....THE SFA AND THE SPFL ARE ONTO YOU and it is a Man's Game up here. Would it be cynical to suggest that this Brains' Trust's most pressing concern will be to consider how to manipulate the situation to the advantage of rasellik? Monday 2nd March 2020 SCOTTISH FOOTBALL AUTHORITIES FORM CORONAVIRUS RESPONSE GROUP THE SCOTTISH FOOTBALL AUTHORITIES HAVE ANNOUNCED A JOINT APPROACH TO ADDRESSING THE IMPLICATIONS OF THE CORONAVIRUS OUTBREAK. https://spfl.co.uk/news/coronavirus The Scottish football authorities have announced a joint approach to addressing the implications of the coronavirus outbreak. A response group including the respective Chief Executives of the Scottish FA and Scottish Professional Football League, Ian Maxwell and Neil Doncaster, has been convened to centralise guidance, evaluation and action on the impact the global spread of the virus will have on Scottish football. It will have jurisdiction to consider implications for all professional domestic fixtures, domestic cup competitions, and men’s and women’s national team matches across all age groups. The group also includes the Scottish FA’s Medical Consultant, Dr John MacLean. At its first formal discussion this morning, the group has committed to a joint approach to ensure consistent and co-ordinated messaging to supporters, clubs, national teams, players, match officials, staff and other key stakeholders potentially affected by the escalation of the outbreak. Ian Maxwell, Scottish FA Chief Executive said: “The safety of everyone involved in attending or participating in a major football event is our foremost consideration and given the developing situation locally and internationally, it is incumbent on the football authorities to speak with one voice in providing guidance and reassurance to stakeholders. This applies to matches hosted here in Scotland but also for teams participating in competitions outwith the country. “Our Medical Consultant is in regular dialogue with experts and colleagues across the UK and beyond and we will be guided by the U.K. Chief Medical Officer as well as Dr Catherine Calderwood, the Chief Medical Officer for Scotland. “While it is important to stress that the current government advice states the risk to individuals is moderate, nonetheless we are starting to see the impact the spread of the virus is having, with the postponement of sporting events across Europe. “The response group will co-ordinate activity daily to ensure Scottish football takes the necessary measures to safeguard the wellbeing of everyone involved in the national game amid the outbreak.” Neil Doncaster, SPFL Chief Executive, said: “We are in regular dialogue with our counterparts in England and leagues in Europe to share news and best practice on what is clearly a serious and concerning situation. “At the moment, there have been no indications that match schedules will be affected, but we are monitoring events closely and liaising with the Scottish Government to ensure we are as well prepared as possible. “Together with the Scottish FA, we will coordinate the game’s response to the challenges posed by the coronavirus outbreak in a responsible and planned manner. We will obviously update clubs and fans on any developments.

  6. Alan Morton ,Davie Wilson ,Willie Waddell, Willie Henderson ,Tommy McLean to name a few at one time Scottish football was famous for its wingers usually wee made who could get down the wings run on to passes from half backs and inside forwards take their defenders on get to the goal line cut the ball back wonderful to watch but mostly they could all cross a ball to their team mates head or feet now I watch football and most of the crossing is dire to long to short to high some crosses are like rugby players looking for touch its dire dire dire

  7. Neil McCann was no slouch when it came to crossing. I remember the halcyon days when Tav used to be able to cross a ball.

  8. Tommy McLean was the best crosser of a ball I ever saw. He was also BY FAR the most consistent winger. A wonderful player.

  9. Add Alex Scott and Willie Johnston to that list of notables. Best of them all was Gordon Smith of the Hibs. I’ll be banned now for heresy.

  10. I think it is becoming clear that Morelos will leave in the Summer. That being so, we want to maximise his transfer value. Leaving him out of squads is unlikely to achieve that end and may exacerbate the tension between him, SG and the rest of the squad. If, as CammyF has suggested he has apologised to the rest of the squad and knuckled down in training I would include him as one of the substitutes with a view to putting him on at some stage but would start with Kamberi.

  11. The rest of the squad may just be suffering from the same!!!!, the players are not stupid, they see what is going on in matches and they also see how weak the club are regarding these refereeing issues

  12. The Goldson tackle where he clearly won the ball was unreal

  13. After Saturday's performance were it looked like we couldn't score in a brothel he has to play

  14. Without knowing the answer to these questions, and more, it's difficult to answer. A spell on the bench did work before with Morelos.

  15. I would start him, whilst concurrently putting it out he is available in the summer. He scores a few more goals, takes his figures to around 35; his value could be maintained? Since the break, he has lacked energy.

  16. I think it depends so much on the players response to being disciplined.

  17. IF both Tav and Hagi are playing Tav should be ORDERED to shy away from free kicks/corners as he no longer has the wherewithal to do so efficiently and Hagi be taker. After all in videos of him he has a real talent in this. I know mathematically the league is not lost but SG should do some tinkering with squad and formations ahead of next season.

  18. On a related note, we neither can recall e.g. Docherty, as he has played for 2 teams already this season.

  20. We played Braga on the Wednesday and had 72 hours between matches, more than Celtic actually...

  21. What are you expecting? The player from 10 years ago that played with Suarez and Stirling and scored goals for fun, or the recent journeyman that can't play for more than 90 minutes without getting injured? Kenny Miller is available - he scored a lot of goals 10 years ago.

  23. The term 'hammer-throwers' seems rather meaningless. Hearts are a side with minimal footballing skill, who run themselves into the ground when we play in Gorgie. They aren't a bunch of muscular heavyweights, who kick and elbow everything in their path - which would be a reasonable definition of 'hammer-thrower'. Stevie Naismith is their central motivating force and he's a midget who dives more than Tom Daley.

  24. Well let's think outside the box. If people think there's a mentality problem when being kicked off the park by the hammer throwers have a motivator so to speak in the dressing room who will deal the culprit at halftime. You think those guys are kicking you hard? You don't want to have to deal with this guy.

  25. Whether it has any bearing or not, from the names listed ,there were eight Scots in the 2010/11 side, compared to just two.

  26. That 2010-2011 team is no better that the one we have. The difference is that Walter absolutely knew what was required to win in Scotland. With one exceptional season aside, he had a habit of being found out in Europe but in the domestic game he pretty much had all the keys to all the doors.

  27. Something even more substantial than that. Whatsapp messages.

  28. Is it really worth commenting on referees in Scotland they are so poor that if VAR were introduced we would have games lasting over two hours trying to sort out their failings and would soon have empty stadiums.

  29. His post-match interview when he said he needed 24/48 hours to think things over. Journalists have interpreted this as suggesting he is considering exiting Rangers. This was all said in the aftermath of a defeat so one would not have expected him to be full of enthusiasm for the future. Another interpretation of what he said might be that he needs time to determine how the team and the tactics need to be altered to bring the success he craves for the team.

  30. A lot of Gerrard’s problems come from poor recruitment last summer. The likes of Jones, Barker, Stewart, Hastie, Ojo & Edmundson haven’t made much of an impact for one reason or another. Only really Helander & Aribo have made any real impact & Helander’s been injured for the past 3 months. And ironically the two loaners who arrived in January, Hagi & Kamberi have looked the best of all recruits so far this season in my opinion. That’s not a good situation to be in.

  31. Six weeks ago I would have prayed that Alfie stayed another season but it's looking like he can't wait to get away and we can't go on like this. Davis is a passenger in too many games and Tav has been too inconsistent (when he's bad he's not just below par he's fucking terrible). Chuck Barker and Ojo out with them and you have the start of a decent clear out. Unbelievable that it's come to this after the ecstasy at the Piggery before New Year.

  32. Agree and I would start with Tavernier he has served us well but feel he has reached his peak and on way down and no longer has leadership quality. Davis has come in and helped steady things for a while but his age is a heightening problem. If Morelos starts scoring again he is a cert to go. It will be interesting when season finishes and next window opens.

  33. Tonight certainly seals the argument that this squad isn’t good enough for Rangers Rick. It’s really now a question of how many we can get rid of without starting from scratch. I hope SG takes this challenge. You don’t get through 2 EL campaigns in the manner we have without some good players but SG has to get rid of 3-5 regulars or the entire squad will start to lose faith in him. Quite how he goes about that is tricky with almost 3 months of the season left.
