On the 16th February 1935 Rangers legend Tom Vallance died at the family home at 83 Pitt Street Glasgow aged 78. Tom is buried in Hillfoot Cemetery in Bearsden and his funeral was attended by Mr. Struth, Chairman James Bowie and his old team-mate James McIntyre who both took a cord. Incredibly, players from the Vale of Leven team whom Tom had faced 60 years earlier in 1877 were also in attendance. That will give you an indication as to how highly regarded Tom Vallance was. Tom was paid the ultimate accolade by the Club in May 1898 when he was made a life member of the Rangers. In 2012 we had Tom put on to canvas by way of a painting by artist Helen Runciman which was unveiled at Ibrox Stadium at the end of our Founders Trail. Tom Vallance took his rightful place at the top of the Marble Staircase alongside his friends and fellow Founders. Some facts on Tom Vallance: Tom had an incredible 60 year association with his Club that he loved. He was a master oarsman, a champion athlete (he set a Scottish long jump record of over 21 feet), he studied at the Glasgow School of Art, had paintings accepted by the Royal Scottish Academy and was Rangers Club Captain and President for many years. While President of the Club it was not uncommon to find TomVallance working the turnstiles on match day at First Ibrox. In 1890 he owned the Club Restaurant at 22 Paisley Road Toll which today is the Viceroy Bar. We have recorded details of Tom Vallance being present at the ceremony held on 1st January 1929 which saw the opening of the Main Stand at Ibrox and also at a Dinner held in the old St.Enoch’s Hotel after a Rangers match in 1933, he was also a guest of the Club that year for the New Year’s day game against Celtic. So, the lad who was present at Fleshers Haugh in 1872 was still attending Ibrox some 60 years later where the Club that he’d helped form and nurture were now playing in front of crowds touching 100,000. Today we remember Tom Vallance.5 points

These last two seasons, the fantasist known as Graham Spiers has taken season tickets at ra Stade de Gadd. He is keen to give both his lads the same football experience he enjoyed with his own father. Of course, this where fantasy begins, his Herald Diary back in the day contained some excruciating pysh. It was around the time when ra Sellik were throwing a slap-up lunch for all the members of the fourth estate who had complied absolutely to MON's tutelage. Glenn Gibbons, Kevin McCara, Mark Guidi,..... including Spiers were all hosted at One Devonshire Gardens. The current Big Cheese from Dunlop wanted to ingratiate himself further into Sellik inspired vicTIMhood and indulged a false memory of attending Ibrox with his Dad, January'76. They stood in their usual place in front of the pie stall in the Broomloan, wearing their Rangers favours. They received no hassle whatsoever, in fact Graham invented a quote, "let the boay support his team". Rangers won 3-zip that day, and old firm games were all ticket; think of the administration involved to make this fantasy true? We must express our concern at the conditioning being offered to two young impressionable lads, perhaps the authorities should intervene. Last week, the Corduroy Crusader took his elder lad fishing. The location being Harelaw Fishery. I am not an Angler myself, but I understand that attendance at Fisheries involves payment. Again, we see Graham has a problem with necessary administration. The loch has to be stocked, the fry reared, fed, and health monitored. This involves employing Gillies. One such, Alex Cairnie is the hero of the story. The former Bootneck confronted both Spiers and son, told him the right to fish required payment. Further, the ten foot high, six foot wide sign that was five yards from his parked car, informed him the Fishery was PRIVATE and payment was necessary. Spiers replied with the robust defence of, "ah didnae see the sign and ah didnae kno' it was private". Now, I must confess that I am surprised any former wearer of the green rag on one's napper can retain such information, but it gets better. Alex Cairnie then told Spiers it was the only sign for five miles, and it had been there on his previous unpaid visits. Spiers reluctantly accepted responsibility and was swashbuckled by being labeled 'a pompous prick' and, 'a silver spoon bawbag'. I hope other Gersnetters will join me in demanding Ayrshire Social Services step in and rescue both young lads from the Corduroy Clown and his fantasies? Absolutely, trout of order!3 points

The dimwits today on radio were all saying Celtic had to lose 4 games to lose the league. They can actually lose 2 games against us and draw one other and they can still lose the league. They really are hopeless. Not one of them picked up on this despite them repeating it several times. We pay small fortunes for their salaries, pensions, expenses and this is the best they can do. Utterly inept, over payed and biased.2 points

Baptist manse, not COS, I'm not having us associated with that slimy, pompous, professional dissembler . Proverbs 6:16-19 There are six things that the Lord hates, seven that are an abomination to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil, a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers.2 points

Considering what Barcelona and Real Madrid get away with this is a ludicrous decision2 points

I think it's Alex Thomson of Channel 4? Yep, that Alex Thomson, lionised as the journo that walked the backstreets of Basra. Those lionising him were Phil McFournames, Captain Haggerty, and DrStu'. Thus, I imagine his arrival is at the bequest of Holicom?1 point

This thread is nonsense. We have improved massively from Ally, Pedro, Warburton, Murty. Since Gerard arrived we have played Celtic off the park in 5 games. We have qualified twice for the EL groups and now the KO. We have been robbed blind in a cup final and been the victims of atrocious refereeing all season. Pre Gerrard the scum were annihilating us. He’s made some mistakes but that was to be expected and part of the package. We have some very good players and we need an ongoing upgrade. We were never going to turn this round quickly unless someone was going to hand over £50m and even then FFP would negate that possibility. The slump is disappointing but SG will know what needs to be done.1 point

The ref didn't give it because of the rain. Apparently the rules are weather dependent1 point

No reward for excellent football. Best I’ve seen for long enough. They played with their brains. I said men v boys but it was the men who were struggling for the last twenty minutes. Mebude MOTM.1 point

Once again officials mistakes aplenty ; Kamberi looked miles onside at the disallowed goal. Like to see Alfredos disallowed goal again as he looked to come from behind a defender. Straight red card for the tackle on Goldson. Guy Lawson lucky not to get a second yellow for tackle on Davis. Ref did well to let play go but should have booked him when we got a corner. Decent win in terrible conditions with Arfield and Halliday the standouts for me1 point

I think we were all waiting on another goal, or two, for some decent points. Everyone who entered gained 1 point for the Correct Result. BEARGER and r_s gained 1 point for the Correct Number of Rangers Goals. compo and FS gained 2 points for Arfield as FGS. BEARGER and r_s gained 3 points for the Correct Score. 3 important points, good games from Hagi and Halliday again, quite a few still carry some winter laziness about though. Kamberi gave them more food for thought, despite them tiring a little (even though it was not that evident late on), as they effectivly had 2 strikers to take care of, rather than blocking the road for runners like Kent and Arfield. Should be Plan A for games like these. 2 offside goals (Morelos should have led Arfield finish it), the last one I need to see again, as it seemed harsh. Interesting eagle eye from the same linesman that didn't see the horror tackle on Goldson 2 metres away.1 point

Halliday has been brilliant. He lacks quality, but you can't fault his effort.1 point

Great strike too, looks like we've got a bigger support than the home team.1 point

Actually, the incriminating e mails were uncovered by a Portuguese whistleblower, in Portugal. He is currently on a charge of computer hacking, which he denies. This charge does not relate to Manchester City.1 point

Braga beat Benfica today 1-0 away at the Stadium of Light. They seem to be hitting decent form just as ours has dipped. It's going to be tough old tie me thinks1 point

Given you yourself were set upon and hospitalized by Celtic fans for nothing more than being a Rangers supporter I would have expected you would have at least a modicum of empathy for someone being attacked for nothing more than having an association with our club. Very poor comment1 point

Don’t you realise it’s one in the same? Doesn’t matter it’s Traynor (If you can’t act civil towards a 66 year old who has been attacked) but a sectarian attack on an ‘employee’ of ours Your comments are repulsive to be honest Open your eyes1 point

That’s a fukin awful comment He’s a 66 year old man who was subjected to a sectarian attack, whether you like him or not that comment is ridiculous1 point
